I can't remember feeling so unwell before. I'm coughing up horrible green stuff (sorry tmi), my throat is agony, my chest really hurts when I cough, I have zero appetite, haven't eaten properly in 6 days now, and instead of getting better I'm feeling a bit better one day and then 20x worse the next. I've tried to keep going at work this week despite feeling so awful so maybe that hasn't helped, I've possibly pushed myself too far. I'm at home today and feeling absolutely rotten. Im in tears with the pain all over my body and my throat and chest 😢

Anyone else got this ?? It's absolutely floored me. I've called the GP and they're ringing me back this afternoon but in all honesty they'll probably just say it's viral and I have to ride it out. 😢

@Jadeee123 I really hope they completely get rid of it for you!!
That's true, the antibiotics probably aren't doing great things for our bodies either!! Might invest in some probiotics!!!
The cabin fever doesn't help does it!! What with covid then this, I've had something like 3 days in the outside world since Christmas eve!!! We need some seriously funny threads on here to keep us going! X

Thank you I hope they work for you also. Honestly since I’ve been ill I’ve never stopped looking on mums net to see if anyone else is going through being unwell! No I usually like to get myself out and about but being stuck in this house is driving me insane!!

Thisisnotmyid · 23/01/2024 16:29

It’s hit our house too. My youngest ended up with pneumonia and I’m the last to come down with it. It’s pretty rough😕

Oh never! That’s what I’ve got also! I didint acually think it was that common until I came on here! What’s your symptoms?

StrawberryJellyBelly · 23/01/2024 17:00

Well two days in to being started on antibiotics im
mow feeling a whole lot better. Thank God.

My doctor told me that where I live they’ve been seeing this virus since September and it’s taking people weeks to get over it.

And I’m assuming it’s the same the world
over because my family in the Uk have been
hit with it pretty badly also.

@StrawberryJellyBelly are you in the States? I know a few laid low with a suspiciously similar sounding virus there!
SO thankful for antibiotics!! Hope you feel back to normal asap!!

That doesn't sound silly at all and I'm going to try that! I've found it one of the worst parts, feeling like this is never ending!! Definitely worth a bit of positive visualisation!! 😊

TheBayLady · 23/01/2024 17:21

I have been like this since New Years eve, coughing so much my insides are aching even when i breathe, headache from hell and my glands are swollen, feel better for a day then back to feeling like the living dead.

Auldspinster · 23/01/2024 17:25

I've been in hospital for a week. Tested negative for flu and covid, Drs have taken numerous blood cultures but can't find out what's going on. Temperature keeps spiking. My inflammatory markers were very high but are coming down and they have me on broad spectrum. It's just the pesky fever that won't shift.

Just so weary of it all, was sick for two weeks before I was admitted. I lost my mum just over a month ago to pancreatic cancer which was awful as you'd expect, so feeling this unwell is the last thing I need.

Thisisnotmyid · 23/01/2024 17:26

Mine was caught by pure chance while I was having my youngest checked. Temp of 40/41, productive retching cough (green phlegm), extreme fatigue and I mean extreme as in I barely had the energy to brush my teeth. I’ve had no actual food for 9 days now it’s all been soup’s and a horrific headache. I thought it was the flu until the GP saw the colour of my face and listened to my chest and heard the crackles in my lungs.

If you’re worried at all definitely call and get checked. Even if it’s just to put your mind at rest. I wish I had done it sooner but I was more concerned about getting my kids through it

Barney16 · 23/01/2024 17:32

We all had it over Christmas and New year. I didn't get the cough but all my bones really really hurt. I couldn't get comfy either sat up, lying down or standing up. I haven't ever felt that before. It was awful. I hope you feel better soon.

Lolololololololxxx · 23/01/2024 17:36

I've got the virus too, I'm so fed up. Awful coughing, ear ache, chest hurts from coughing, can't sleep properly. Constantly tired. Throat feels swollen. Really drained. Single parent too and I'm still doing school run. My child has a club this evening and I'm far too unwell to take. So missing this week. Been signed off work currently.

That's awful, I'm so sorry for your loss. I really hope you are out of hospital soon. It must feel like the most horrendous nightmare. 😔

Auldspinster · 23/01/2024 18:25

Thanks. I'm just going with the flow as much as I can. In the best place and getting well looked after.

edissa · 23/01/2024 18:27

Sympathies to all still suffering. I too am still coughing violently most of the day. When does this end?? I'm beginning to think I'll never get well 😢

ShatParp · 23/01/2024 18:33

@edissa do you have a temp? If there's no improvement in a couple of days try again for the GP. I had seen a physician associate who said it was viral but 2 days later I felt so awful I went back and saw a GP, who heard the crackles. Don't let them fob you off!!

hummmmm · 23/01/2024 19:27

I'm curious, how many times have you all had covid and are any of you taking precautions to avoid catching it when you're not ill with mystery viruses?

Stringofpearlies · 23/01/2024 19:45

I'm in NZ and this gives me worries about the coming winter !

Auldspinster · 23/01/2024 20:08

I've had covid once and have been masking all winter, I think I must have caught this hellish bug at my mother's funeral.

43ontherocksporfavor · 23/01/2024 20:17

Just had a text from my GP surgery to say that due to high Covid levels they can’t run their drop-in. Odd that the place you go to get well can’t see you but schools are being told to accept chn with temperatures! Why do teachers have to be infected but GP surgery staff are protected? It’s all going on but the government would have you think Covid has disappeared.

43ontherocksporfavor · 23/01/2024 20:19

I’ve had Covid twice in the last two three years. I’ve had three jabs. I have a chesty cough after a cold last week that had seemed to get better. I haven’t tested because my school says there is no guidance and to just come in unless bedridden!

topgirlalways · 23/01/2024 20:22

We had it. DP got a chest infection first. I then got it. Floored me for 5 days when ill I like to have a shower and feel sorry for myself out of bed. This I slept for 5 days.

DP couldn’t get over it. Cough lasted 5 weeks and he was so poorly. Think we had flu

No temp, just a hideous hacking cough that leaves me breathless😭

just to point out that if you've been placed on antibiotics (and they are working), your illness is not a virus. antibiotics are not prescribed for viral illnesses .

You're aware that the bacterial respiratory infections necessitating antibiotics are often secondary to a viral infection?
