I can't remember feeling so unwell before. I'm coughing up horrible green stuff (sorry tmi), my throat is agony, my chest really hurts when I cough, I have zero appetite, haven't eaten properly in 6 days now, and instead of getting better I'm feeling a bit better one day and then 20x worse the next. I've tried to keep going at work this week despite feeling so awful so maybe that hasn't helped, I've possibly pushed myself too far. I'm at home today and feeling absolutely rotten. Im in tears with the pain all over my body and my throat and chest 😢

Anyone else got this ?? It's absolutely floored me. I've called the GP and they're ringing me back this afternoon but in all honesty they'll probably just say it's viral and I have to ride it out. 😢

It came on in fits and starts for me - a day of pains, a day of dizziness, a day of headache,a morning of nausea, then what seemed like a slight cold, then Wham, it hit me full on. I haven't lost my appetite, but did lose taste and smell for 24 hours. I've blew my nose so much, it's bleeding everytime I try now. My DC has it, my DP is now starting with it, and wider family have it - one has been hospitalised and 3 on antibiotics. I'm going to force myself out for a walk tommorrow.

Ergh, it’s back.
Was just starting to feel better after 2 weeks (other than being knackered) but now it’s back with a vengeance. Sweats, nausea, shakes. My poor kids can hardly open their eyes for conjunctivitis.

How can I get rid of it!

I have the eye infection back. It cleared up after a week and stayed away for 8 days. Today it won't open without help and the muscle is surrounding my right eyeball is so painful and watering like a tap.

pickledandpuzzled · 16/02/2024 09:03

I’ve just applied to see the GP. On and off since Jan 1st. Feel breathless and wheezy.

No concentration. Blooming cough getting better then worse again.

HellsBells67 · 16/02/2024 12:07

Thank you. I called my doctor this morning who informed me that they don't deal with eyes and recommended a trip to A&E!!! I went to my nearest pharmacy (with sunglasses on) and they sold me some bacterial eye drops. I'll see if it starts getting better after 48 hours and if it doesn't I'll go to my local opticians.

@DirtyDuchess if it doesn't clear up, the optician can refer you direct to a hospital ophthalmologist so no need to sit in A&E. Or at least they can in Specsavers!

ShatParp · 16/02/2024 18:45

I'm 6 weeks on and just been given a second antibiotic and steroids and I'm to have a chest x ray! 😫

Lunab18 · 16/02/2024 18:49

I’ve been ill for over a month now. Been to the GP three times and had three courses of antibiotics, first two for a chest infection and the third because it had become Pleurisy. I’m still ill and the pain in my ribs/lungs is awful so I’ll be going back the GP next week to see if I need a chest Xray. Just really want to feel better.

Just short of 4 weeks now since I had to take to my bed for a week with it (see much earlier post!). I've still got an annoying cough. Some days I feel worse than others. I can only really manage work shifts & rest/sleep. Partly, I think, because I'm not completely filling my lungs with each breath, because if I did I would literally be coughing every time I breathed!

cheapskatemum · 20/02/2024 08:37

@pickledandpuzzled same! Lack of concentration definitely a problem at work.

Gfozzy · 20/02/2024 11:52

Still coughing to the point of throwing up (sorry!) waking in the middle of the night choking and still coughing up a lot of mucus. On my third round of antibiotics due to getting tonsillitis! Christ knows where from but hey ho! Think I’m on week 5 or 6 I’m not sure. Feel better in the morning and then by the afternoon I’m back to feeling shivery and exhausted. Praying I wake up one day feeling back to normal but so far no luck!

Bless you x

Apparently even benign bacteria can suddenly cause an infection as the immune system is so focused on dealing with covid, so secondary infections can kick in (this is how a doctor explained it to me - apologies if that’s wrong!).

You will get better, it’s just taking longer with these current bugs.

Lunab18 · 20/02/2024 11:58

I’m on week 5 now, just been for a chest X-ray and also been diagnosed with Costochondritis which is causing the awful pain in my ribs.
Hope we all feel better soon.

SheriffofRottingham · 20/02/2024 12:01

Week 8 (roughly) - a lot better. No longer confined to just the bedroom.

Still struggling with fatigue low stamina getting breathless and feeling jittery. Eyes chest sinus no longer infected. Each week there’s a bit more improvement though, so we will get there 👍

Gfozzy · 20/02/2024 12:02

Yes costochondritis here too! I feel your pain literally. We will get better soon, we have to! X

Giantdog · 20/02/2024 17:05

Still really unwell here, I’ve slept for 3 days solid! It’s no good, I have 2 babies and an older child to look after.

I desperately need to get better but each day I wake up and no improvement. I’m just so exhausted even the stairs feel like Everest.

ShatParp · 20/02/2024 17:58

Joining the costochondritis crew! 😂 it's SO PAINFUL. I could cope with 6 weeks of rank cough until this. On a second (different) antibiotic and steroids now so fingers crossed. Got a chest x ray next week! @SheriffofRottingham thats interesting as I wondered how I'd ended up with a bacterial infection as I've never had one before!

I feel like a really decrepit 99 year old.

Any tips to help the rib and sternum and back pain are much appreciated...heat, rest and cocodamol are just not doing it for me!
