To ask if anyone has this awful virus at the moment?

I can't remember feeling so unwell before. I'm coughing up horrible green stuff (sorry tmi), my throat is agony, my chest really hurts when I cough, I have zero appetite, haven't eaten properly in 6 days now, and instead of getting better I'm feeling a bit better one day and then 20x worse the next. I've tried to keep going at work this week despite feeling so awful so maybe that hasn't helped, I've possibly pushed myself too far. I'm at home today and feeling absolutely rotten. Im in tears with the pain all over my body and my throat and chest 😢

Anyone else got this ?? It's absolutely floored me. I've called the GP and they're ringing me back this afternoon but in all honesty they'll probably just say it's viral and I have to ride it out. 😢

@auntyElle where I live they are very strict about prescribing antibiotics and I know they only prescribed them because there was a need. And yes what was explained to me sounds like what you said but the Dr also mentioned the glue that was clogging up my chest and my nose etc can also be bacterial.

Update: Day 16 since this illness began and I am STILL uncontrollably coughing up green stuff at times. Still very little appetite but forcing small things down. And still very fatigued a lot of the time. 😪

How's everyone else doing?

I had a break of two days where coughing improved a bit. Now it’s back and I’m not sleeping again. It’s a horrible bug!

I had 2 days where I felt a bit better but now come down with awful cold can’t breathe through my nose and headaches!!

So DH had this a few weekends ago, turned in a chest infection for which he got amoxicillin and is now better. I had it too but milder and got better then got the cough which I still have , the next week. Really weird . I’m not as bad as he was and no green phlegm yet so hoping I don’t need any antibiotics. Deep phlegm though that’s hard to get at. Keep having coughing fits in the car on the way to work and arriving all watery eyed! Luckily I don’t feel ill .

started 29th dec,never felt so ill as first 2weeks, monday just gone 22nd jan went to severe sinus on antibiotics, these made me feel really sick,just finished them today, sinus better, still worn out will we every feel 100% again

I am so sick of these illnesses , and it only ever seems to be me that catches it out of the whole house! Pneumonia now flu I just don’t know how much more of this shit I can take! I pray every night to just wake up feeling even the slightest bit normal so I can do something with the kids! 😭

I'm much better now, only took the five weeks Considering myself lucky it didn't go to a chest infection but still feel pretty tired after a fairly easy day.

i agree ive never slept so much.not hungry,just worn out,feel like when i walk my dog and meet someone everyone else is well. i feel like im moaning if i say im still ill, but i do have a problem with my immune system,been through boxes of hankies, taking vitamins trying to eat more fruit ro,, on summer i might be better

Yes. 5 weeks in now. Feel a bit better this week but had 2 lots of antibiotics.

My teenager has been really rough for days, temperatures almost reaching 40c and incredibly lethargic. Nothing really else which is weird - slight tickly cough and red throat but nothing that you would think would cause him to feel so dreadful.
Turned a corner today, but then this afternoon has felt flat and had a couple of small nose bleeds

I've been prescribed a further week of antibiotics to get rid of the last bit of pneumonia. I first got sick in October, took a couple months to get the right medication, and still rebuilding my strength. It's been a long recovery. I'm taking zinc, b6 and magnesium, as well as fish oil. the number one thing that has helped apart from medication is sleep and rest. Followed by gentle walking when I felt up to it.

AHH, apologies, just read all thread now, not COVID.

How did you find your symptoms? I’ve been on 2 lots of antibiotics now and feel like I’m going to have to go back to gp for more! Feel so floored it’s unreal but flu symptoms have seemed to come after the pneumonia started. Don’t know what’s going on!

I'm still in hospital and probably won't get out till the end of next week. Being a medical mystery is a pain in the bum.

@HousePlantNeglect these are exactly my symptoms! I assumed it was just a cough and cold but the nausea thing threw me.

Are you taking any medication? I’m on the Lemsip which is helping a bit. Not sure what else to do. DH and DC have it also.

@Jadeee123 I had three rounds of the wrong antibiotic before they changed it and put me on Doxycycline. I had absolutely no improvement in symptoms until I had Doxycycline

I feel briefly better at points and then the next moment I'm coughing all kinds up again 😪
My ribs hurt now when I breathe which I assume is from the frequency of coughing. It keeps me awake at night too.

No antibiotics - I saw a nurse at my GP surgery on Monday and she didn't want to prescribe them, she said I needed to wait 6 weeks and if I was still unwell they'd send me for a chest x ray and investigate further. I've been unwell now for 2.5 weeks, so have a while to wait before they'll do anything for me 😭

Update: I am now on antibiotics and naproxen for the pain as i apparently now have pleurisy on one side of my lungs 😭 The pain on breathing in / coughing is unbearable. When does this end?!

I got ill with covid on nye. I just had a double pulmonary embolism on Sunday night which could have killed me. Please look up the symptoms just in case. It’s a fast killer. Hope you all feel better soon.

How long has this went on for you? I’m on week 3 or 4 now

Today is week 3 since I first got unwell. The sharp pain in my chest (apparently pleurisy) has only been the past couple days, so this is my first course of antibiotics since all this started. It's just miserable isn't it 🙁

@Allofaflutter that's terrifying! Hope you're feeling better now. The doctor asked about swelling in my legs etc and said I don't have any of the risk factors for a PE so he thought pleurisy instead. Apparently he could hear crackling on my lung on the side where the pain is.
