I can't remember feeling so unwell before. I'm coughing up horrible green stuff (sorry tmi), my throat is agony, my chest really hurts when I cough, I have zero appetite, haven't eaten properly in 6 days now, and instead of getting better I'm feeling a bit better one day and then 20x worse the next. I've tried to keep going at work this week despite feeling so awful so maybe that hasn't helped, I've possibly pushed myself too far. I'm at home today and feeling absolutely rotten. Im in tears with the pain all over my body and my throat and chest 😢

Anyone else got this ?? It's absolutely floored me. I've called the GP and they're ringing me back this afternoon but in all honesty they'll probably just say it's viral and I have to ride it out. 😢

I have had this for eight weeks (minus the cough) I tested five times over two weeks for Covid, all clear.

I am exhausted, in my head I have planned tonight’s dinner, but I know I will have to push myself to do it. It is only shepherds pie, mash and veg FGS.

My sats are fine, I get tired just walking up the stairs 🙄thank God I am retired because working would be a challenge.

Someone mentioned anxiety, yesterday my breathing was so shallow I thought I was in further heart failure, I then allowed myself a sneaky blub and felt better, so deffo anxiety.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

I'm week 4 into a new job.

So far, I've had 4 days off sick and it looks like this week is a write-off.

I answer phones for a living!!

Giantdog · 06/02/2024 14:08

I’m back to work tomorrow, dreading every second. I can barely get myself up half the time!

43ontherocksporfavor · 06/02/2024 18:32

Sore throat gone after two days. Just a bit sniffy now. Hope this is finally the end!

Gingernaut · 06/02/2024 23:15

My eye (bacterial conjunctivitis) is less sticky, but still looks vampire-y, so they eye drops are working

My cough is painful, my throat is painful ( have trouble swallowing) and my voice is all over the place.

I feel like such a failure - this job, shit though it is, was supposed to be a new start...

My eye infection which I self-diagnosed as viral conjunctivitis is just receding after a week. I'm so pleased to hear this is a symptom and not just me. I've been ill almost constantly since mid November.

While I was in A&E, there were rooms blocked off saying flu A positive and whooping cough positive. No covid though.

Allofaflutter · 07/02/2024 15:03

Apart from me! They had positive pressure rooms. The dr I overheard was saying how this long illness is whooping cough.

Allofaflutter · 07/02/2024 15:04

A sign in adults was red faces I heard him say.

Allofaflutter · 07/02/2024 15:08

He was basically saying how whooping cough is suddenly everywhere.

Allofaflutter · 07/02/2024 15:18

He wasn’t talking to me directly but I could hear him clearly.

Well today is the first day I haven't had to stop myself entertaining the thought of going back to bed.

Now granted I am retired and didn't elevate my arse until 11.00, but once up, I dropped DS to his mates a thirty mile round trip, came home and sorted out the bins, unloaded the dishwasher, reloaded the dishwasher, made chicken soup, attempted to make a tomato and fennel sauce but burnt the onion. 🙄

I am currently queueing for Premier Inn, I have needed to do this since before Christmas, today is the first day that I was happy to do it as opposed to eat it.

Any minute now, Dh will have his wall to wall rugby removed and I am going to have a glass of wine and watch a New Life in The Sun.

Today feels like progress. Softly softly catchee monkey.

6 weeks later I am finally fully better APART from not being able to sing a note. Which is a pain, because I'm a singer.

It's been a very long road.

When I was in hospital (for 5 days), everyone on my ward was in with the same infection.

Gingernaut · 08/02/2024 05:52

This fucking cough has has me awake since midnight.

Add sleep deprivation to the list of symptoms

Gfozzy · 08/02/2024 15:51

So my son started with it Friday eve, me Saturday. Had a nasty viral infection for 2 weeks prior but got antibiotics last week for chest infection but on Saturday I took a turn for the worst. I am so unwell, body aches, sweats but no fever, fatigue and headaches plus this relentless cough. Went to docs yesterday who sent me to a&e with suspected pulmonary embolism. Had chest Xray, bloods, ECG etc and no signs of infection other than a high CRP level so been put back on antibiotics but I feel so much worse today 😭 didn’t help that they put me on the flu/covid ward despite them swabbing me and me being negative for both. Son went back to school today and got a call at lunchtime to collect him as he was too poorly. I actually don’t think I can manage much more of this…. 3 weeks in and counting and now the risk that I caught something else in hospital last night! Fed up

Thank you ☺️

Gingernaut · 12/02/2024 13:50

Feeling a bit better, my voice is almost back and I now have pustules at the back of my throat.

Quick trip to Urgent Care and I now have antibiotics 2 tablets four times a day.

Jesus. Does this ever end???

AntonFeckoff · 12/02/2024 14:03

I think I've had this. Tested for Covid on day 2 and day 5 but negative both times. It started with a streaming nose and razor throat, followed by a violent cough to the point of almost vomiting, constant sneezing, tearing eyes...

Today is day 12 of it. I feel a lot better than I did (still have all the symptoms but much milder now) but I can't seem to shift this awful head fuzziness/pressure/slight vertigo. I feel in a daze. Does anybody else have this?

Gfozzy · 12/02/2024 18:38

Yes, head pressure feels a bit like someone is squeezing my head from both sides. Still have extreme back pain and coughing up such crap to the point I’m actually vomiting. This is hell. Managed to get out for a bit today but since 3pm I’ve been hit with extreme exhaustion but still an improvement on previous days!

Giantdog · 12/02/2024 19:24

We are 2 weeks in and all suffering fatigue really badly. Finished antibiotics though at least but we are all still snotty and have bad chests.

Has anyone else had various random skin infections with it? I’ve had an awful skin infection on my face, all the DC have conjunctivitis and impetigo! Why would that happen with flu/Covid or whatever this is?!

AntonFeckoff · 12/02/2024 19:52

@Gfozzy yes, that’s it, feel like my head is being squeezed. I’m also coughing lots up and my nose is still streaming.

@Giantdog My friend has just developed a skin infection while recovering from Covid. It can be because immune cells become dysregulated by the initial viral infection which leaves you more vulnerable to secondary bacterial infections. The bacteria that live naturally on your skin that normally do you no harm (and even do you good) can suddenly have the opportunity to infect you.

Merluzzo · 12/02/2024 20:10

I started with this in the middle of December and was so ill over Christmas. The violent coughing was so bad I couldn’t lie down, I slept sitting up for nearly 3 weeks. I felt better after about 5 weeks but it then kept coming back, this happened 2 or 3 times.

I finally got amoxicillin which seems to have done the trick . My GP did get my blood tested for whooping cough as she said there’s a lot of it about, but it was negative.
I also got conjunctivitis quite badly, which a few PPs seem to have.

I’ve never known anything like it.

I hope everyone starts to feel better soon.
