Do you think men seeing escorts is common?

I was just reading the ‘do you think affairs are common?’ thread, and it made me wonder about sex workers. Do you think it’s more common for married men to visit escorts than to have full-blown affairs? Maybe I’m completely wrong, but I’ve known several women (all friends of friends) who’ve caught their husbands messaging or googling local escorts. It’s just so ridiculously easy these days. A man can lay in bed and scroll through dozens of local prostitutes on his phone. His wife could be asleep next to him as he does so. If a married man wants more sex, an escort is a much quicker and easier way to get what he wants. He’s also less likely to be caught.

I’ve heard married men at work joke about visiting escorts. Whenever one of them has to go abroad for a few weeks on business, the others joke about looking up the local escorts, or having escorts come to the hotel, etc. Somehow, they don’t quite feel like jokes. Sad thing is, I generally like these men. They have always been very pleasant to me, and don’t come across as seedy or lechy.

You must realise being one yourself your view will be heavily influenced by your experiences. Just like Dentists believing people with bad teeth are more common than they are in reality

yeah I get your point...I suppose for me it's just the amount of people I see from all different walks of life as in old, young, rich , poor, single, married....whatever. I guess there are some people out there who wouldn't consider it though...

I actually know two escorts/sex workers. One is an attractive late 20s female who has a mixture of clients with some admitting to being married but most being high earning single men. The other is a M2F trans sex worker who is preop. The majority of the clients are men who claim to be straight. Of those ‘straight’ men, my friend says about 90% of them are married to women. And a surprising amount of the clients of the trans friend claim they follow a particular religion which is known for being somewhat anti LGBTQIA+

what would you say the common reasons people use the services are ?

To my knowledge, I don’t know anyone who has ever used a prostitute, although it wouldn’t surprise me about a couple of men I know.

A friend of mine, years ago, worked supporting street prostitutes in Manchester. Their ‘rush hour’ was 5-7pm, when on their way home from the office, popping in before getting back to the wife.

factually it’s rare for men to see escorts, even rarer for it to be a regular occurrence

Facts are it’s rare. 1/4 using paid sex workers at all means the vast majority of men have never used one, even less will use one regularly

I'd guess so. Hard to know since most wouldn't admit to it, and most wives would be ashamed to tell anyone too.

I think it is probably fairly common but would imagine that some of the banterists in the office are trying to be laddy and in reality would be terrified and intimidated by sex workers in person rather than on a laptop screen. As DH would say, some of them are just giving it the big one in front of their mates.

Maybe I'm completely off on this, but I've always thought that two types of men get escorts... those who can afford it (quick, easy sex), and those who don't have the looks/charm.

Those who cheat tend to be those WITH the looks and charm because they can get the 'real' girls, and are more than likely going to encounter them, and the opportunities on a daily basis.

Got to say I agree with this. The naivety really is astounding. For a start, the vast majority of men never tell anyone (I should think). And whereas affairs are often exposed, it would be easy to get away with visiting escorts. The internet has increased the temptation and made it easier.

My otherwise apparently normal middle class professional husband who liked a nice cup of tea was having threesomes and anal several times a month with escorts for over 10 years and I had no idea whatsoever.

Well, if your co-workers discuss it at work and in ear shot of literally everyone around them - without fear of being overheard - that certainly gives every indication of it being utterly blasé and widespread…. 😳

I can’t even begin to imagine my male colleagues discussing this at work, and not giving the slightest shit who hears them…. 🤯

Well, literally every single man you encounter professionally uses your services, so of course you would see it as common.

That doesn’t necessarily follow that it is common for men to use escorts.

I’m not saying it’s not! It may well be, and we women may well be completely in the dark about how widespread it is.

But just because every man you service uses escorts, doesn’t mean it’s common across the board.

Loads of different reasons....not getting intimacy off their partner, not having a partner, not wanting committed, a prostitute can actually be cheaper than a girlfriend lol 🤔, no Strings, stress emotional commitment. The list goes on....

@Annacondas very true I can only speak of my own experiences. I do have at least 20 regular clients/punters (what ever you want to call them!) that I see weekly/monthly, some of which I have been seeing for 5 years or more...

Use of escorts is very common among … men who use escorts.
