What are you doing tonight if it's just you and your partner?

I've been married for 18 years. My DH and I have decided to spend new year at home just the two of us as we will be working tomorrow (self employed!)

We don't seem to have fun together anymore. We just go through the motions.

We don't laugh as much. :(

I'd love some inspiration and to hear about how you are spending this evening if it's just you and your partner.

Well... we just had quite a long discussion about AI, what defines 'intelligence', how this differs from consciousness... and only had one can of IPA between us to fuel the debate.Grin

We had to be up at 5am this morning so probably want an early night interrupted by half an hour or so cursing noisy fireworks

He's reading a book and I'm about to get mine out. We'll have some bubbly at midnight with our DD and her friends and then off to bed by half past. (28 years married.)

MiL passed away a few days ago so morale is low in our house. Probably watch eastenders and go to bed 😂

DH has just pointed out that hopefully the bad weather will turn the fireworks into damp squibs. (He didn't put it as well though).

Today is also our 9th wedding anniversary. Watching Antiques Roadshow and considering making bananas and custard to go with small bottle of champagne. Touch of the fomo at the moment but will get over it when we head to the beach for an early morning walk tomorrow.

He’s just opened a bottle of zerosecco (I’m on an 14 h shift tomorrow) and brought a glass for me (I’m in the bath. He’s watching some shite on YouTube). There is a pasta bake in the oven with garlic bread, I can smell it!
We’re watching Dune in a minute, eating and then bed.
We spent the afternoon in bed doing sudoku, having a nap and chatting about how much we annoy each other, and how it’s all his fault 😂. It wasn’t a fight, we just honestly talked about what we need to do when we feel like strangling each other.

Going to bed as soon as the kids are asleep. 😂 Honestly, I cannot be asked with losing an extra couple of hours of sleep to stay up til midnight. It’s been a hell ish Christmas (a tree fell on my car, in laws that way overstayed their welcome, a veterinary emergency for the dog, I’ve been completely run off my feet putting out one fire after another, and now I’m sick with a chest infection). I’d rather be in bed than celebrating NYE, so that’s where I’m headed. 😂
