What are you doing tonight if it's just you and your partner?

I've been married for 18 years. My DH and I have decided to spend new year at home just the two of us as we will be working tomorrow (self employed!)

We don't seem to have fun together anymore. We just go through the motions.

We don't laugh as much. :(

I'd love some inspiration and to hear about how you are spending this evening if it's just you and your partner.

Just played “monopoly for sore losers” which was a present to us (DH, DD14 and I) from Santa. It isn’t any better - still lots of arguing (and confusion as some of the rules are reversed)!

Also I kept calling Mr Monopoly, Mr Motivator. I guess the wine kicked in 😂

Went to our favourite restaurant for a late lunch / early dinner, then on to Kew for the lights. Now watching a film. I am struggling to stay awake but I hope to manage till midnight.

Married 12 years and DH usually has to work but hes on standby.
M&S Pizza dinner followed by a game of monopoly with DC.
DH snoring on one couch, DC playing nintendo switch and im on mumsnet!
Rock and roll we are not!

Had ready meals for dinner. I've been working on uni assignments all day. Deadlines 3rd January, and I've 5 assignments. Left it late. Put DS to bed. Had a disagreement with DH about letting DS sleep in our bed. DH won. DS cried. DH now watching TV. I'm still working on assignments.

My partner is upstairs watching Bond films, he came down 20 mins ago, frowned at my empty glass and went back up.

I’m downstairs watching Ghosts with our dogs and trying not to cry. Another crappy end to another crappy year.

We decided to use our Christmas presents - a smores hamper, a virtual escape room and a bottle of prosecco. Now we're watching a film on prime.

We had planned to go out earlier today for lunch with friends but little one is poorly so had to cancel that.

We had some sushi earlier, took the dog out for a windy walk, DH and Ddog now fast asleep whilst I finish the prosecco, watch Carrry on Screaming and snaffle a pile of Ritz biscuits. I'll wake them both at 12.01 to go to bed.

Tbf DH is usually a bit more lively but he had a crap nights sleep last night.

We’re having a chilled out evening - lovely steak meal & just finished watching “ Pretty Woman”. The bunnies are in because of the fireworks so we’re being entertained by them 🐰🐰🐰🐰

Homemade mushroom risotto with with all the left over stilton mixed in. Sharing a box of Hotel Chocolat tipsy truffles and steadily working our way though the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Will probably finish it off tomorrow.

Went to pub at 5pm to meet some friends early then came home and cooked pizza. We have worked our way through a bottle of caramel rum, finished a bottle of Baileys and we've done the best part of a bottle of crema di limoncello. Not to mention the drinks we had in the pub.Watched Your Christmas or Mine 2. Now watching watch Rick Astley to see in 2024.

I know the world is going to hell in a handcart but on a personal level, 2023 has been a fabulous year for me and I will be sorry to see it end.

Had a Chinese takeaway and caught up with Coronation Street. We've now got Jool's Holland on a we're having cups of tea.

Probably because I watched Fiddler on the Roof and Hello, Dolly! earlier whilst repotting a couple of plants, DP has decided he's now choosing another musical - The Producers.

He's also eaten two huge Aeros and I've had half my bodyweight in olives and pickled garlic, so it's been alright as NYEs go.

Went for a long walk earlier which was lovely. Came home and had a luxury everything shower with my many new products whilst he went in the gym. He had a shower and made us fillet steak. Just had some snack/pudding and now watching jools until 12. Will call my mum at 12 and then promptly go to bed!

We both have that seasonal bug/lurg floating around so ordered in takeaway, been watching films and he is currently snoring his head off on the sofa with the cat curled up at his feet.

DP cooked roast beef which we had for dinner while listening to music, then we played a quiz game while tipsy. Probably going to bed at about ten past midnight, which ironically is actually earlier than we go to bed on a normal night.

We always stay in on NYE. Granted we have 2 little kids asleep upstairs these days but it’s still as it ever was….

Couple of drinks, a takeaway, TV and we just had a shag on the sofa. Just waiting now to see the New Year in, then we’ll eat posh Christmas chocolates in bed before sleep (and numerous night wakings from youngest no doubt!)

Married 4 months but we are not rock and roll!! No children

Tidied the under stairs cupboard as it was annoying us

Chose the wedding photos for our album

Were going to do a small Lego set but photo choosing was quite hard so will do it tomorrow

Played a co op game with me on (his) playstation and him on (my) switch - he's better than me so can make do with the smaller screen 😂

Neither of us wanted to go out, way too expensive and busy. Also while the housecats are generally fine with fireworks, I prefer to be around when there's lots expected (our area seems to love them for some reason) just in case, especially as it's quite windy. Last time I actually went outside to check everything as it sounded like one ended up in the garden. I thought we'd got away with it due to the weather but they're now being set off

We live not far outside Edinburgh , so have been watching the fireworks at the castle from our window ( beautiful by the way) spent the evening watching corny films and grazing on whatever we fancied with Prosecco for me and cider for him - married 43 years so past the rock n roll stage -happy new year to you all and hopefully it’ll be the best it can be for everyone

We had a little party and a disco with our 3 small DC. DH demonstrated his dancing and DJing 🙄. Then they went to bed and we played cards and had a drink, something to eat, listened to some music and had a laugh and a few dances together. Then we had a glass of champagne for midnight and now we're watching Mullholland Drive - except it's boring me silly so I'm on mnet. I have also cuddled the cats and said happy new year to them. I'm off to put the plates and glasses in the dishwasher and we're going to bed. Not rock and roll but we've had a nice time.

MIL is visiting. So there was a big argument about religion (dh is an ex Christian now atheist) and MIL believes that God is an alien and Mary was artificial insemination project, Jesus had super powers due to being part alien.

I am living in a perfect idea of my hell, trying to get through to when she leaves again.

If she hadn't been here, I'd have had a perfectly lovely time with DD and DH, few drinkipoos and maybe a nice bit of TTRPG.
