Big boobs

I'm five foot 3 size 12, I have massive boobs. I've been wearing a size 38FF lately. This is the only one that fits me . Which is a bit tight. I think that I'm actually a size G. But they don't stock 38GG in my local shops. I'm going to have to buy online.

I'm just a bit fed up of having big boobs! If I visit my mother she tells me to get a better bra as I'm very "booby". I look booby in everything.

I feel like I can't wear a t-shirt as I look so busty. My boobs look huge in everything. I don't mind them personally if Im just by myself.

But I just think that people over sexualise me everywhere I go. If I go to a meetup group, the men all talk to my boobs. It's very hard to dress myself without looking extremely sexual.

They are also heavy. Sometimes I just wish I had smaller boobs for an easier life!

What's your under bust and full bust measurement (the latter wearing a bra)?

I'm a size 12 and a 34DD, my under bust is 33 inches (84cm), full bust 38" (97cm)

https://boobydoo.co.uk/how-to-find-your-bra-size-using-a-tape-measure/

If you are much more than 38" around your bust, size 12 is going to be a squeeze in most shops, and size 14 is up to about 41 inches/102cm.

If you are wearing a 38GG you must be about 47" inches around your full bust and 36-37.5 inches underneath, so you'd be about a size 22 not a 12.

I'm puzzled by this. I wear 38A bra but am size 12? Rib cage/back expanded during menopause. I've had a fitting at John Lewis.

Floooooof · 12/12/2023 14:10

We're not all made to the same proportions, I don't think it can be worked out with a formula. Maybe we just have big ribs 😂they seemed to get bigger during pregnancy and never shrank back, I'd stand no chance getting into my pre baby bras

I echo getting a proper fitting, OP, and I feel your pain. When I was younger I got heartily sick of men and women assuming I was a bit of a slut because I had big boobs and yes! I will make everything look booby because they are BIG! Don't let men talk to them, pull them on them, pull them on their behaviour and if they don't behave, walk away. So fecking rude!

Edited

I ask men to speak to me not my boobs. That usually pulls them up sharp ☺️
42DD and well used to the male gaze despite being modestly dressed.

That makes sense - see the Boobydoo chart I posted earlier. Your full bust measurement will likely be no more than 37" or 38" - size 12 clothes are usually 37 or 38" round the bust, sometimes up to 39".

I’m a size 10-12 & a size 38, so I’d ignore the comment from the person who was doubtful about it seeing as they also wanted a pic. Honestly some people!

You're not fitting into a size 10 with a 38inch ribcage. Either the clothes or bra are the wrong size.

You could be a 38A and a size ten. Band measurement could be between 36"-37.5" for a 38 back. So say if you were 36" ribcage and 0-1 inch difference as an A cup you could be a size ten in tops (36.5" on Oliver Bonas website).

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 13:54

@Vuurhoutjies I wear a size 10 on bottom.

You said about the bras.

I went in and tried every 36 back bra. I tried dd , e and f. None of them fit me. They were all too small

Then I tried 38 dd - was too small, 38 e was too small, 38 f fit.

Yeah I'll have to try to get properly measures somewhere

Right, so you tried on ones with too small a cup size. If a 38f fits, then a 36f would be too small (and dd and e far too small), you'd need at least a 36g or even 36gg (which is basically the same size as a 38f, but will offer better support).

MsMarch · 12/12/2023 14:18

I think am important consideration is also the shape of your breasts - I have to find bras that support the sides rather than underneath as mine tend to sprawl outwards rather than downwards. A push up bra is actually a good choice for me, but now that I'm almost 50, overweight, I'm just not willing to go there! Grin

OP I agree with everyone else that you are very unlikely to be a 38 but unless you get a proper fitting, and probably with a cup size that is way in excess of what you are currently wearing - eg a 34JJ or something - I don't think you are going to solve this problem.

pandarific · 12/12/2023 14:19

Same! I have a wide rib cage and small boobs, 38A, as confirmed by proper bra fitters.

people do come in all shapes and sizes.

Right, but if your ribcage measures 36inch, then you're not a 38a.

And also if she is a size 22 around the top then wearing a size 12 top will definitely get you noticed.

I hate mine as well. I wish we didn’t have them.

Oliotya · 12/12/2023 14:24

If you add inches to your underbust measurement you won't get the right amount of support from the band. If you measure 36, then you are a 36.
People can wear other sizes if they want, but that doesn't mean it's the right size.

BettyBakesCakes · 12/12/2023 14:26

Well, you've been told the problem and solution op but it seems you don't want to accept you're probably in the wrong size bra so 🤷‍♀️

SwordToFlamethrower · 12/12/2023 14:28

That bra size seems wrong. I'm a size 12 and I wear a 32G.

Consider getting refitted. A 38 would be too loose for me.

shearwater2 · 12/12/2023 14:28

Size 38 back and cup sizes. You can be anything between a size 10 and a size 32 depending on cup size.

5'3", size 12, 32H. Even when I lost weight and was a small size 8 I was a G cup, very out of proportion! I have a love hate relationship with my breasts, more hate than love overall. They're heavy, bras are uncomfortable, people notice my breasts no matter what I wear.

I buy bras from Ann Summers mostly, they're surprisingly good. I only look nice in balcony or plunge though, full cup separate my breasts too much and I look wider. Nothing will make them disappear, but clothes help.

Baffledandalarmed · 12/12/2023 14:28

Get a proper bra fitting OP and then try decent bras if you can afford it. Ultimately, you get what you pay for with bras and cheapo ones are never going to be flattering as they are not properly made to measure.

Bravissimo are great. But, actually, Rigby and Pellar G+ bras are beautiful, supportive and comfy - far superior IMO and they keep their shape after they've been washed too. That's what I use. They usually have a very good post-Christmas sale.

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 14:29

@BettyBakesCakes eh where did I say I don't want to accept I'm the wrong size? I said I'm going to wear a 38 for now as it fits, then I will get a fitting next year and see what they say

The chart/measuring guide does not suggest adding inches, it gives the correct measurements for each cup and band size.

"Correct" according to that website.

Sodndashitall · 12/12/2023 14:32

A big part of the support for boobs comes from the strap and many people wear bands that are too loose. I'm a size 12 and used to wear 32G

I would add that I got a boob reduction a few years ago (paid for privately although probably qualified on NHS due to pain) and I've never looked back. It has absolutely transformed my life in every way. Worth every penny

shearwater2 · 12/12/2023 14:33

Oliotya · 12/12/2023 14:32

It works for me and makes sense with clothes sizes too. Much more than people telling me on here "You can't be a 34DD and a size 12" or trying to get me into 32 back bras when clearly there is a two inch gap and they don't fasten. Or they fasten but cut me in two and I can't breathe.
