Big boobs

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 12:00

I'm five foot 3 size 12, I have massive boobs. I've been wearing a size 38FF lately. This is the only one that fits me . Which is a bit tight. I think that I'm actually a size G. But they don't stock 38GG in my local shops. I'm going to have to buy online.

I'm just a bit fed up of having big boobs! If I visit my mother she tells me to get a better bra as I'm very "booby". I look booby in everything.

I feel like I can't wear a t-shirt as I look so busty. My boobs look huge in everything. I don't mind them personally if Im just by myself.

But I just think that people over sexualise me everywhere I go. If I go to a meetup group, the men all talk to my boobs. It's very hard to dress myself without looking extremely sexual.

They are also heavy. Sometimes I just wish I had smaller boobs for an easier life!

When you say the 38 back fits OP - if you turn it around (so the cups are at your back), how much can you pull the band out? It shouldn't be very far. The back size is the measurement around your torso. I'm a size 22/24 and I wear a 38 back, to give you some idea.
What generally happens is that you have a cup size that is too small, the band feels too tight, and you assume the band is the problem and go up a band. This then offers you no support (because the majority of the support is in the band) and so bras are unflattering and often uncomfortable too.

HappyAsASandboy · 12/12/2023 13:49

A quick check for your band size is to put your bra on backwards. The band size is nothing to do with your boobs; just your torso. The band should fit comfortably but not loose when you have the bra on backwards.

Once you have a starting point for the band size, you'll probably find you need to go up a lot of cup sizes because up until now you've been wearing a big band to compensate for too-small cups.

Go to a shop like bravissimo where they'll have a lot of larger sizes for you to try.

Vuurhoutjies · 12/12/2023 13:51

But you haven't said if while you were trying on the 34, you also went up a cup size (or two). That's really important as it's all about proportionality. I couldn't get a 38 B round me if I tried. But 38 E is fine.

If you were buying a plain t-shirt from somewhere like Next or M&S, what size would you buy? If you have any in your cupboard, put one on and look at it objectively in the mirror. Are the shoulders way too wide for you - this is something I have to be careful of and even more so pre surgery in that if I went up too many sizes to accommodate my breasts, it was droopy and big on the sleeves because it was made for someone with a much larger overall frame than me.

When you look at yourself in the mirror, I assume you are top heavy because of your breasts, but look at the rest of your body - is your waist/back/bum significantly wider than your hips/legs? And what size do you wear on bottom? Because again, that will give you a better sense of whether you are wearing a bigger size due to your breasts, or because you genuinely need it.

Keroppi · 12/12/2023 13:52

Go to bravissimo or speak to them online

Mine aren't particularly massive but I have a small back and can't for the life of me find anywhere that stocks cup sizes larger than a D with a small enough bandsize, even looking at some websites a lot of them start at a 32, I need 28/30

Try Belle Lingerie - they have 28 and 30 up to K
https://www.belle-lingerie.co.uk/

They have a big range of sizes up to KK in some styles

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 13:54

@Vuurhoutjies I wear a size 10 on bottom.

You said about the bras.

I went in and tried every 36 back bra. I tried dd , e and f. None of them fit me. They were all too small

Then I tried 38 dd - was too small, 38 e was too small, 38 f fit.

Yeah I'll have to try to get properly measures somewhere

Oliotya · 12/12/2023 13:54

If you put the 38 band on backwards, is it still tight?

Seeline · 12/12/2023 13:54

Just measure round your body right up under your boobs with a tape measure. That would give you a very basic start point for your back size.
The band can feel tight because the cup size is too small, not because the back size is too small.

3Tunes · 12/12/2023 13:57

@YeahIsaidit Bravissimo sell 28 back bras up to H cup (I wear them) and probably beyond, though I haven’t looked. John Lewis are also an option. M&S thinks that size doesn’t exist…

Vuurhoutjies · 12/12/2023 13:58

@Mooshamoo I think it does sound like if you ARE wearing a size 16 on top, that's most likely the result of your breasts. I think when I was at my thinnest, I was wearing a size 8 at the bottom and a size 10-12 on top (post surgery) and size 12-14 on top (pre surgery). now that I am, frankly, overweight, I'm wearing a size 16 on bottom, sometimes 18 as I do have a thick tummy, and a size 16-18 on top. (luckily I don't gain weight on my breasts at the same proportion as elsewhere on my body).

Seeline · 12/12/2023 13:58

YeahIsaidit · 12/12/2023 12:31

Try Boux Avenue -their bands can come up a bit small, but start at a 28".

Winederlust · 12/12/2023 13:59

I know you're saying not but I genuinely don't see how you can be a 38 back based on your size (even size 16).

Does the back strap sit flat across your back or does it ride up as you wear it? That's a sure sign the back is too big. It should be snug with just enough give to fit a couple of fingers underneath.

And as PP have mentioned, when you go down a back size you need to go up a cup size to get the same cup volume. So instead of 38ff you would try a 36G or a 34GG.

The shape of your boobs also makes a difference to the bra style/shape that would fit best.

I don't know what brands of bra you wear but I can't recommend a bravissimo fitting enough. They really know their stuff and the bras they sell (expensive, but once you've found a style that works you can search for them cheaper elsewhere) will change the way you feel about your boobs. Cheap supermarket/M&S/Next bras just don't cut the mustard when it comes to support for bigger boobs.

toddlermam · 12/12/2023 14:00

I truly understand. I had E cup boobs at 14 years old (they're an F/G now) - I've literally been sexualised since I was a child. Some tops/dresses I see others wearing and they look amazing, I try them on and my boobs just spill out no matter the size!

I'm looking into getting a breast reduction tbh but I'm only 24 and I'm not 100% sure if I'm done having kids yet so it's difficult.

Thenewmags · 12/12/2023 14:01

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 12:47

Hmm maybe my dress size isn't accurate then. I wear size 12-14 tops as I have done for years , but they are baggy big tipa anyeay, I think I've put on weight and am nearer a size 16 now.

Size 36 bras don't fit me at the back at all. I tried on loads of bras. Size 38 at the back and ff at the front fits me now.

You could definitely be size 14-16 and be 38F. I’m 5ft 2, was size 14/16 and wearing a 38F and now I’m 36E after losing a bit of weight (more 10-12 now) so if you are a size 14-16 at a short height it sounds right that you are a size 38 in the back.

I know it’s not the end of the world and I’m grateful my breasts are healthy but like you I’d prefer smaller boobs too. It is what it is though! An ex made a throwaway negative comment about them which hasn’t helped either.

The only thing I could suggest if you want to reduce them is to lose weight. When I’m a size 8-10, I find I’m a size 32/34 DD. It might help.

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 14:02

Hi @Winederlust I'm not arguing with you but someone else on here said that she is a size 14 and wears a bra with a 38 back.

38 backs are not just for people who are over size 18, I think they sometimes fit people who are size14-16 too

Floooooof · 12/12/2023 14:03

People are so funny about bra sizes. There was a whole thread about it a while ago, I am roughly the same height and dress size as you OP and there's no way I could be anything less than a 38. I could just about do a 36 up and be insanely uncomfortable. Anything smaller literally won't go round me, I physically can't do it up.

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 14:03

@Thenewmags thank you!

BeerScientist · 12/12/2023 14:03

Yup 36f here currently and hate it, been a DD since i was a young teen though. Day to day they are heavy, sweaty and grt in the way. Nightmare not to look slutty or matronly in clothes :( big bras are expensive too!

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 14:04

@Floooooof yeah I find a 36 back to be too tight qnd uncomfortable. 38 is good.

Merryoldgoat · 12/12/2023 12:02

I would be very surprised if you are a 38 given you are a size 12.

You need a proper fitting bra - it will do wonders.

FWIW I’m a size 24 with 38J breasts and whilst they’re massive they are fine in a good bra.

When much slimmer at a size 16-18 I have a 34 back. 38 is very unlikely.

I’m a size 10 and wear a 34 back. Your bras must be very tight. Mines probably a bit loose, I’m probably actually a 32, but I really hate tight clothing and I don’t have huge boobs to support so rather go a bit bigger.

Winederlust · 12/12/2023 14:06

Well I'd argue they're wearing the wrong size too. Approx. 80% of women do after all!

You haven't answered any of the questions on the actual fit, or whether you've ever had a proper fitting though so it's impossible to tell.

From what you've posted you don't sound sure about your size at all so just wanted to give my advice that, when you have big boobs, half the battle to accepting them is to find the right bra in terms of size, shape and support.

StoodySmithereens · 12/12/2023 14:09

I’m a size 10-12 & a size 38, so I’d ignore the comment from the person who was doubtful about it seeing as they also wanted a pic. Honestly some people!

SnapdragonToadflax · 12/12/2023 14:09

Are you anywhere near a Bravissimo, or could you travel to one? They will fit you and if you don't want a super tight back, they will take that into account.

The OP who wears a 38 back at size 14 does say she's had broken ribs, so understandable it might be more sensitive. I'm a size 20 and wear a 38 back, and I have quite a wide ribcage. The band around the ribcage is what does the most support, so you want it to be fairly firm otherwise all the weight is on your shoulders which causes back and neck pain.

When you go down a back size you go up a cup size - and if your boobs won't fit in the cup, you'll have to order online unfortunately. But do try to get to Bravissimo, they're brilliant.

Bubbleshoespop · 12/12/2023 14:09

Where you are buying your bras is an important point. If its somewhere frankly rubbish like M&S you will be a bigger band size there as the bras are crap and they also don't go up to high enough cup sizes. I too recommend bravissimo. Even if your size is correct the bras will be 100x more flattering and they will help you find ones that suit you

professionalnomad · 12/12/2023 14:09

I feel your pain! I hate hate hate having big boobs. I think it makes me look fatter than I actually am (5'5 size 18). If i wear shirts or vest tops or anything with a neckline below my collar bone i look like I'm flaunting myself. I look droopy and gross in swimsuits and have basically given up any activity involving jumping or bouncing. Or i wear two bras. I was a 38F but after breastfeeding two babies I dread to think what they are now. I've been saving money to get a breast reduction as soon as i finish breastfeeding. I hate even looking at my boobs - they are so large and gross. Not attractive at all. They give me the boak.
