Big boobs

I'm five foot 3 size 12, I have massive boobs. I've been wearing a size 38FF lately. This is the only one that fits me . Which is a bit tight. I think that I'm actually a size G. But they don't stock 38GG in my local shops. I'm going to have to buy online.

I'm just a bit fed up of having big boobs! If I visit my mother she tells me to get a better bra as I'm very "booby". I look booby in everything.

I feel like I can't wear a t-shirt as I look so busty. My boobs look huge in everything. I don't mind them personally if Im just by myself.

But I just think that people over sexualise me everywhere I go. If I go to a meetup group, the men all talk to my boobs. It's very hard to dress myself without looking extremely sexual.

They are also heavy. Sometimes I just wish I had smaller boobs for an easier life!

Hello, I agree with others about making sure you're the correct size.
It sounds as though your chest size would reduce if you lost some weight - easier said than done I know!

I'd also suggest there are ways to dress more modestly , I am 30G/H size. I find that wearing knit dresses or dresses that have that expandable stretchy section at the back help. Wrap dresses.

Then tops which have a 'boat neck' style are really helpful, high waisted jeans etc

BaronessBomburst · 12/12/2023 13:22

A properly fitting bra will make your boobs look smaller. As will wearing v-neck t-shirts and jumpers. Go to Bravissimo and get a proper fitting. I've always been busty and was J/K cup when BF so trust me! Grin

Vuurhoutjies · 12/12/2023 13:23

if you have very big breasts and are wearing size 16 or 14 or even 12, that's probably to accommodate your breasts. So I agree with everyone else, I think you're not wearing the right bra size.

Having said that, I had a breast reduction in my 20s and it was life changing. At the time, I was about a size 10-12 but on top I routinely wore a size 14-16 because of my breasts. The surgeon did not take as much as I wanted, but after the surgery, I went down to a 32D. Sadly, having gained weight, I'm not a 38E and I definitely have big breasts, but I remind myself that if I hadn't had the surgery they'd probably be a 38J or something!

So my advice is 1. look into better fitting bras that are more supportive and 2. if it really really bothers you, consider surgery.

Ohnoooooooo · 12/12/2023 13:25

I echo others worth getting an expert bra fitting. You keep going up sizes in your posts for a 12 to a 16….buy I am a size 20/22 but I wear a size 38 like you think you are. You mum seems to be trying to tell you too to get a bra fitting so obviously something is not right with your bra.

Merryoldgoat · 12/12/2023 12:08

Can you post a pic of you in a bra (obviously cropped) so we can see how it fits?

Do NOT do this! I can't believe people post shit like this on a public forum.

StrictlyComeSnoozing · 12/12/2023 13:25

You need to be properly measured as you're undoubtedly wearing the wrong size bra, which will make you look more "booby" as you aren't supported properly and they won't be sitting right.

Don't do this, OP. Even cropped.

NonPlayerCharacter · 12/12/2023 13:27

If you're going to show anyone your bra for fit, go into a shop with professional fitters and do it there.

Cas112 · 12/12/2023 13:27

You really wont be a 38 op

The band is supposed to feel really tight at the beginning as you wear it in and you wear them on the loosest notch then as it gets looser with time you put it on the next notch so its tighter again and so forth until your on the final notch when that starts to get loose your due a new bra. Your bra's are supposed to be firm fitting and supporting

Toddlerteaplease · 12/12/2023 13:32

Go to bravissimo. It was a revelation! I'm size14-16 and a 36g. So no way are you a 38z

Redcrayons · 12/12/2023 13:33

As everyone else says, get a proper fitting. Bravissimo do it really well, they don’t measure you, just bring loads of sizes in to work out what you need. John Lewis is pretty good too.

Im 12/14, and have a 32 band.

Agree, there is absolutely no reason for her to post that picture.

Elphamouche · 12/12/2023 13:34

Bravissimo are brilliant. I’m a 38K

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 13:36

Yeah I thought I was a size 12-14 as that is what I have been wearing for the last two years and they still fit me. But I tend to wear baggy tops. Now I think about it I think I've put on a bit of weight and am size 14-16. I need to check my dress size!

But I've tried on lots of bras and 38 at the back definitely fits.

I just asked because often the bands are too high and the front not into the sternum and the existing bra can be a good starting point for the starting point.

Of course suddenly OP is a size 16 and not a 12 so it’s all a bit ridiculous anyway.

FairytaleChristmas · 12/12/2023 13:40

Please get measured. I've regularly been measured since a teen and I've still gone from a 32G to a 30JJ! And I'm a size 10-12.

If you have a bravissimo local to you they can really help you.

But your feelings about being 'booby' are very valid, I've never minded really but the last couple of years I've come to hate how they're always in the way, clothes just don't sit right on me and they're always 'out' even when I've trying for them not to be.

You know that if you are wearing a 38 EE and you try a band size down, you need to go a bra size up? So you can't just try a 36 EE. You'd need to try a 36 F or a 34G.

After I had my reduction, a few years later having gained a bit of weight I put some real effort in and lost a lot of weight. Probably the only time since my early 20s I was properly slim. I remember crying my eyes out as on one of those bra measuring services, I was now down to a 30EE or something like that. It felt so MASSIVE, even though objectively, I was smaller, in all ways - including my breasts - than I had been since I was a teenager!

crozzfit · 12/12/2023 13:43

I'm a size 14 and although I've tried the 'go up a cup size and have a smaller band' thing several times I just can't tolerate a tight band round my back. I've broken ribs before and after a couple of hours my back is really hurting. So I wear a 38 band too.

Ryeman · 12/12/2023 13:44

As others have said, you need to go to the boob or bust site and measure yourself, or visit somewhere like bravissimo. You likely need a much tighter band (as a starting point, measure around your rib cage under your bust and pull the tape really tight - that should be your band size) then adjust cup size upwards accordingly.

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 13:45

@Merryoldgoat I wasn't a 12 and now a 16.

I'm saying that dress sizes are not accurate. I go up and down in weight and I still always fit into my size 12-14 clothes.

I don't think dress sizes are that accurate. Especially some shops make clothes quite large.

So I don't know exactly what dress size I am.

However I do know what bra size I s most comfortable on me.

I spent over an hour trying on bras last week. 34 at the back was an absolute no.
36 I could just about get on but it was uncomfortable.
38 at the back gives me support.

See @crozzfit is a size 14 and wears a 38 back.

Like me.

Sympathies OP.

Putting in some time and research will pay off. Bravissimo for high street bras in wide range of sizes and styles, and they have well trained fitters who you can phone/ask online if you can’t get to one of their shops.

Ample Bosom - mail order, very old fashioned website, they do some makers that Bravissimo don’t do, including the expensive but wonderful Ulla Dessous from Germany.

Then dress to flatter your curves - it’s a paradox but if you wear fitted things and v necks, or low square necks, and things that taper at your waist, you look slimmer and better overall. Some people like Fairlie Curved for clothes. If you don’t want to expose your chest in cold weather with a v neck, divide up your chest vertically with a thin open cardigan.

The oversexualising of your boobs dies down as you get older IME.

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 13:47

Anyway thanks for all the well meaning advice about bra size. I know it is important to get the right bra.

Frasers · 12/12/2023 13:47

I really dislike boob or bust and figure it’s why so many women on here dislike wearing bras and feel they are uncomfortable, you always end up with a too small strap digging in.

NonPlayerCharacter · 12/12/2023 13:48

I've never got on with Boob or Bust. I'm narrow backed with big boobs. It doesn't work for me.
