Big boobs

Mooshamoo · 12/12/2023 12:00

I'm five foot 3 size 12, I have massive boobs. I've been wearing a size 38FF lately. This is the only one that fits me . Which is a bit tight. I think that I'm actually a size G. But they don't stock 38GG in my local shops. I'm going to have to buy online.

I'm just a bit fed up of having big boobs! If I visit my mother she tells me to get a better bra as I'm very "booby". I look booby in everything.

I feel like I can't wear a t-shirt as I look so busty. My boobs look huge in everything. I don't mind them personally if Im just by myself.

But I just think that people over sexualise me everywhere I go. If I go to a meetup group, the men all talk to my boobs. It's very hard to dress myself without looking extremely sexual.

They are also heavy. Sometimes I just wish I had smaller boobs for an easier life!

@Usernameundiscovered when you say tailored do you mean you get measured by a seamstress and your clothes made to measure? Isn't that awfully expensive?

I can sew so I adapt items myself. I don't buy fast fashion so yes it seems expensive but I probably spend similar to people who buy huge amounts from Primark or Shein.

Hubblebubble · 21/12/2023 17:41

@Usernameundiscovered thats a handy skill to have! Unfortunately I can just about sew on a button.

Like PP said, if you are a size 12 it's highly unlikely you are a 38 - as a rule of thumb, you add 20 to your dress size to find your bra band size.

Try www.booborbust.com/ - booborbust which has a measuring guide which should give you a more accurate starting size.

I did not know that about the "add 20" but actually that completely checks our for me! Ta very much, that will be so much bloody help going forward because my weight fluctuates so much!

I thought I was still a 38dd but since losing weight I am now a 32f after finally getting measured, it's made such a difference....brastop do great bras

Snippit · 21/12/2023 18:40

I once went for a bra fitting at Debenhams. She guessed my size by just looking at me and got it completely wrong 🤦‍♀️. I told her I’m a 36b, she was adamant I was a 34c. Lo and behold I ended up with a 36b. Since the menopause I’m now a 36c, I’m 5ft 3” weigh 10 stone and a size 12/14. I have a broad back due to lots of swimming when younger, I believe you could be a 38 but it wouldn’t hurt to go for a measure. Also different makes and sizes vary so much, which is very bloody annoying 😋

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia sports bras really shouldn't be affecting your breathing negatively. They're designed to help stop your boobs bouncing around while you run, jump, play team sports and so on. Which all gets the heart racing and involves lots of rapid breathing.

Sports bras seem to achieve the lack of bounce by putting strong elastic straps around my ribs and squashing my breasts against my front ribs.

I'm a brass player, and when I come to breathe in during a loud passage (think John Williams film music) I cannot breathe in enough in a sports bra. They might be OK for rapid shallow breathing but they are no good for trumpet players or any other brass player.

OhwhyOY · 21/12/2023 21:35

Bravissimo are amazing. I went from looking fat due to large boobs in massively oversized clothes to actually having bras and clothes that fit and accentuate my curves. Though I'm also now fat 😁

This doesn’t work for me, I am a size 14 and west a 40 bra. When I was a size 10 (years ago when
size 10 was smaller) I wore a 34 bra. I worked in a lingerie shop and was properly measured.

They obviously did the plus 4, which is outdated as bras now have stretch.

The stretchy band is a huge problem for me, the stretchier the band, the more it cuts in for the same amount of support. The most comfortable "bra" I have ever worn was a belly dancer's bedlah top in custom sizing, no stretch at all in the back strap and you stitch the hooks and eyes on yourself in the correct place for you. The next most comfortable was a bra-sized bikini top.

To be honest, I’m a similar height and think you could possibly lose weight which may help here. That’s not to be horrible either, I know from experience that weight doesn’t carry well on women our height. Also there’s loads of clothes you can wear that don’t make you look “sexual” (not that’s a bad thing). If you think your clothes are always highlighting your silhouette, buy a bigger size

heyheyheyy · 22/12/2023 02:29

that doesn’t really work for people with single figure dress sizes

cheeseandbranston · 22/12/2023 04:18

I'm little and had naturally big boobs. It made me look heavy and overly sexy. I really didn't like it so I had a breast reduction. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

Why wouldn't it? A size 8 would have around a 28in underbust? Sounds about right to me.

Little with huge boobs here. I am a walking pair of boobs and I hate it. They wreck the line of me in everything. The tips like wear v necks are pointless when the bloody bra just shows in everything that doesn't have a miles above boob neckline. And I have been decently measured. I know I actually have very nice boobs in themselves but that doesn't help!

Yeah, V neck is fine if the bra doesn't show, but if you're petite that can be really hard. Have you tried wearing a vest underneath? You still get the dip and divide effect to break things up a bit but there's a bit more grace for bra hiding, and covering cleavage if you don't want that on show (go you if you do, of course).

Have you tried ruching? I know the instinct is not to add ruffles and fuss to an already attention-grabbing area, but a mid-bust gathering can break up that vast expanse and stop the uniboob look, and they're usually cut a bit higher which will help hide the bra. Or ruching that gathers at the side of your waist, from all over the top/dress.

It's a total bugger, I know. I used to look at women on TV when I was younger and think, "I could have amazing stylists who could do wonders with my hair, makeup and clothes and really transform me, but what would they do about the BOOBS?? They'd hide everyone in the background whenever I was in profile! And it's no good losing weight...it never comes off the chest so they would actually just look BIGGER!"

It might “sound about right” to you but in reality shops don’t really stock sizes smaller than 30 inch. I am slim and short and wear clothing between size 4-8. 30-34 inch underbust fits me fine - I couldn’t imagine buying a size 24A bra as I’d imagine it wouldn’t fit me. Not that I’ve managed to come across one in that size.

I agree it's not easy to find smaller than 28 bras. But that doesn't mean a bigger band is the right size. If you're comfortable and don't need masses of support it doesn't really matter, but at a size 4-8 a 34in band is absolutely not your size.

Can someone explain why you couldn't be a size 30A or 30B and be a size 6-8 in tops?

My dd actually is that size. She’s petite, and I think a 26C would be a better fit, but since nobody makes those, 28B is what she wears.

The band measurement which is the 28/30/34 etc number is the measurement around the ribcage under the point where breast meets rib if that makes sense.

There are obviously variations for body shape but a 30in band size would likely be too big for that dress size

Size 6 is 30in over the bust, which is generally fuller than band size.

I mentioned earlier I’m a 38 band but very fat - size 24. However I have (when slimmer) a very pronounced hourglass shape and narrow (proportionally) back. but massive boobs so K cup - so a lot of actual breast.

shearwater2 · 23/12/2023 05:06

@Merryoldgoat But surely say if you were 30A, depending on the shop, you could be 30" underband and 31" full bust, and size 6 clothes are about 31/32" chest, so you'd be a size six.

It seems to me that there are size variations between shops and personal differences on how we prefer bras to fit, and actual cup size makes a massive difference with clothes sizes. So it just annoys me (not you specifically) when someone on here blithely tells someone else that they must be wearing the wrong bra size, as you can't be a 30 underband and a size six, or a 34 and a 12, as when I look at the various measurements given across multiple stores online I can easily see how you could be.

halfshutknife · 23/12/2023 05:43

The smaller backs didn't fit because you were trying on tiny cup sizes. You tried smaller cup size in the smaller back size than you did in the larger one. You need to go down a back size or 2 and up a few cup sizes.
For reference when I started working as a bra fitter I was wearing a 34c. Didn't all 80s kids?! I was fitted at a 30f. Fit like a glove.
General re of thumb size 10-30back, size 12-32 back etc. that only works with the right cup size though.
The right size bra will change your life.

shearwater2 · 23/12/2023 06:37

What I don't get is why the back size varies if you are an A or F cup? What a stupid system. I don't find it does anyway. I can't get a 32 back bra on comfortably whether I tried an A cup or a G in it, as my underbust is 33". I am perfectly happy with a 34DD being a size 12 and it certainly fits properly according to any bra guide out there, but threads like this make me wonder and try other sizes. And some bras try and hoik my tits up to under my chin, or push them forward so much than tops looks stupid or lumpy. Personally I like my breasts to be more or less where they sit naturally, and not hoiked up, scooped, or pushed forward uncomfortably.

MeadStMary · 23/12/2023 07:24

I spent all of my teen years and most of my 20's hating my boobs. They always made me look fatter than I actually was, and they just looked so big and were the most noticeable thing about me.

And then I started wearing the correct bra size and wearing clothes to flatter my body shape, and everything changed. I used to wear a 38dd as a size 12, now I wear 32GG or 34G depending on the bra. I used to wear round necklines and clothes that went straight down over the boobs, all to try to "hide" them. Now I exclusively wear v necks and make sure to buy clothes that go in at the waist, and my whole figure looks so much better. My boobs kind of blend in with my body and don't look anywhere near as noticeably big any more.

I used to want to have a breast reduction, and this was pre kids so my boobs were actually a bit smaller then. Now I am absolutely fine with my big boobs and the pain and stress of a reduction just doesn't seem necessary.
Obviously some women have boobs that are just way too big and cause problems, and I can totally understand wanting/having a reduction. But I think for most women with "big boobs", a well fitting bra and wearing clothes that flatter your shape can make the world of difference.
