Friend washed up the dog bowl with our dinner plates

This happened a few months ago but has just came up in conversation IRL.

Went round a friends casually for some dinner. As she put our plates & cutlery in the washing up bowl she also put the dog's dinner bowl in there and washed it up together with the SAME sponge.

I do laugh at this now, but at the time I was like 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳.

AIBU to think is this absolutely disgusting?!

Supposedly she washes it each time it's used. And she's feeding her animal meat (which a lot of people also eat) the only thing that could be unsanitary is the animals saliva, which the majority of people allow their dogs to kiss them so really I don't see the issue. As long as the bowl is washed after the other dishes and it's very hot soapy water.

It’s more that an animal has licked the bowl, not that dog food is the issue.

It would perhaps give me a little bit of an ick but I also don’t think it presents any sort of risk or danger whatsoever, and the items will all be adequately clean afterwards.

My dog sleeps on my bed yes. I don’t think this is uncommon! He isn’t allowed to lick faces though.

I am fairly laize faire (or however you spell that) about things to do with dogs that some mumsnetters apparently think is gross, but I absolutely only wash the dog bowl after I've washed the human things.

It's not just the contact with remaining dog food (which isn't all safe for humans, many dogs are fed a raw diet), it's any medications but also any dried saliva from them licking the bowl!

Honestly this place is mental, it’s perfectly normal to wash pet bowls the same way as human ones.

No it's proper grim. All my animal bowls etc get washed separately and with separate sponges/cloths.
