Urgent help needed - drugs posted to my house

I’ll keep it brief - package came , my address , random name not related to anyone in my house (I’m in U.K. ) had old postage label on back for an address in Canada - the surname was “postage” ..this looked to be from a previous package , basically the packaging was being re used . My address was on a declaration label stating it contained a hat . I opened package as no one in my house claimed it , an old hat , 2 odd socks and inside one of the socks a substantial amount of white powder in a bag ! Postage label says October 6th . It was on my doorstep yesterday . I want to go to the police but I’m worried someone’s going to turn up at my house looking for this . How would it end up at my house - is there such thing as a scam where it’s used my house as an address For some reason ? I just want to know why it’s here , why my address ? I am a childcare provider and have a house full of children ! Thank you for advice

I’d definitely go to the police

Didyouhavethelastcoconut · 20/11/2023 18:23

Police.

Blueeyedmale · 20/11/2023 18:24

Absolutely police and ASAP

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/11/2023 18:25

I’d call the non urgent police number straight away.

Usernamechange1234 · 20/11/2023 18:26

Police - now - don’t think twice. Now!

milkysmum · 20/11/2023 18:26

Definitely the police. What else can you do.

lasswibenefits · 20/11/2023 18:27

yeah you need to go to the police

TheresaCrowd · 20/11/2023 18:28

As if you couldn't just go to the police and deny the package was delivered if someone knocks for it.

I mean if it was missdelivered you'd be in the same boat wouldn't you?

What drugs and how much?

Be prepared for the police to turn against you and search your house upside down and inside out on a warrant (As in ripping up floorboards, back of electrical switches, under insulation etc)

Don't be ridiculous.

"I want to go to the police but I’m worried someone’s going to turn up at my house looking for this ."

And if someone did (pretty sure they won't) that would be better for you if you hadn't called the police? In what way?

Or are you worried it was for someone in your house who hasn't owned up?

Sparklysunshine · 20/11/2023 18:30

I don’t know about drugs - it’s white and feels kinda gritty - like washing powder ? I’m just scared that someone will turn up angry looking for their package

Contact police, they'll arrange safe disposal and look into what's happened.

If anyone turns up looking for a parcel just say you don't have it.

Usernamechange1234 · 20/11/2023 18:32

Call the police. Why on earth haven’t you done that yet?

… and not fix it.
Kicked down my front door years ago. Massive damage and nothing to do with anyone here, this address or any tenuous link for actually doing it other than it was a complete mix up.
Gave up trying to get the money out of them for fixing it, let alone the lost wages having to deal with it. Ditto the site gate a few years ago. Teen running away from themjumped it, followed by An attempt by a tall heavy set officer who broke it even though it was obviously going to be unsuccessful that he’d ever get over it

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 20/11/2023 18:32

I would go to the police. Also please stop handling this item. It might be lots of things and drugs is only one of them.

the police will NOT turn your house into a disaster zone btw

If the police have been tracking the package they may very well know it's with you already. You remaining quiet will appear like you are involved. Ring the police and ask them to come and collect it. Don't drive to station without contacting them first in case you are for any reason stopped and searched on the way as they may not belive the line "I was bringing it to the police station".

wokbun · 20/11/2023 18:35

Stop touching it!

Surely it’s even more important to call the police if you are worried about someone turning up? What would you rather do? Wait for them to turn up and give them an open package with an apology?

DogInATent · 20/11/2023 18:40

Police.
You really have to ask this?
