Urgent help needed - drugs posted to my house

I’ll keep it brief - package came , my address , random name not related to anyone in my house (I’m in U.K. ) had old postage label on back for an address in Canada - the surname was “postage” ..this looked to be from a previous package , basically the packaging was being re used . My address was on a declaration label stating it contained a hat . I opened package as no one in my house claimed it , an old hat , 2 odd socks and inside one of the socks a substantial amount of white powder in a bag ! Postage label says October 6th . It was on my doorstep yesterday . I want to go to the police but I’m worried someone’s going to turn up at my house looking for this . How would it end up at my house - is there such thing as a scam where it’s used my house as an address For some reason ? I just want to know why it’s here , why my address ? I am a childcare provider and have a house full of children ! Thank you for advice

Rack up a huge line, then you'll know.

These are drugs - UPS ecstasy tablets. They contain high levels of MDNA and are three times stronger than the standard pill

Do not put them in the bin. They are very toxic.

Those were the ones I found in the street- They were handed in to police. Never heard anything about it afterwards.

It’s not someone’s ashes is it? 😱

found a black cloth bag on the pavement a few years ago, Picked it up and it was obviously 'Drugs'- some sort of E or stimulant.
**
It was a Saturday, and police were out and about due to a football match.
**
I handed the pills to them

oh grow up

Sorry? Why does someone need to grow up because they hand drugs into the police? Is that not the grown up thing to do?

CarPour · 20/11/2023 23:31

Maybe the sender just included the washing powder to wash the socks?

I seem to remember a newspaper story about a damaged parcel arriving with no clue about its sender. The recipient had spoken to a friend who promised help with a Christmas cake recipe.
The spices were added in with the usual cake ingredients and the result was agreeable, if not exceptional.
A week or two later, two delayed letters arrived; one containing a special cake recipe, the other bearing the tragic news that great aunt had died while visiting relatives abroad and advising that her ashes would be following in due course. Following a family conference, the uneaten portion of the cake was solemnly interred in the garden.

Before reading this I was of the mind that if I ever received a mysterious package of white powder I would have to have a sniff and then a little lick if I still couldn't work out what it was.

I've now decided that any suspicious white powder I receive shall be returned to the sender. Anthrax wasn't enough to deter me but this was.

What drugs and how much?

Be prepared for the police to turn against you and search your house upside down and inside out on a warrant (As in ripping up floorboards, back of electrical switches, under insulation etc)

Yeah this isn’t going to happen.

They may put the OP in 'custardy'

😂

Banana1979 · 20/11/2023 23:46

Why are you asking on here? Obviously the person failed to intercept it Before the postman got it to you. It’s Best to call the police. Because now you are in possession of an illegal substance.

Don't be ridiculous.

unfortunately, she is not being ridiculous. I once met a woman who was imprisoned along with her husband because their son was dealing drugs in the family home.

“Grow up?”
@Xmaswomble You sound like the one who is desperately immature.
Would you have given them to a teen to have taken?
Police have safe ways to dispose of these, but hey, you are the “ cool mom” who would share with teens, no doubt.

Street drugs contain all sorts of garbage.

I mean, you can’t necessarily trust what anyone tells you in prison. I thought everyone learned that on the first day.

Dustyblue · 21/11/2023 03:04

I've bought MSG online & it arrived in an unmarked suss-looking bag like that. Not with a hat and odd socks though.

JoanOfAllTrades · 21/11/2023 03:07

Since you’re a childminder, you need to call the police ASAP and forget about trying to work out what this white powder is yourself, or who may have sent it.

It may be that the police have flagged this as it went through customs in a sting operation.

I wouldn’t take the chance of a sting operation, and I wouldn't want to be an unwitting drug mule either!

JFT · 21/11/2023 03:08

I have drug convictions and I know how the police work. Depending how particularly moronic and gung ho they are in your area, they would love to bust you for holding drugs. So, be careful how this is reported.

Take photos of the package, then store it and lock it up safely where no-one could access it, report ONLINE to the police with photos and explain exactly what happened in your own words. Do not ring them, anything could happen verbally (they have extra special phone morons).

They could even be tracking that package and watching your home if they'd identified it contains drugs that they've 'let through'.

Whoever said it above, yes, it's true, they come in your house and take floorboards up and pulling things apart looking for more. So you need to get in there first and keep it very sane, very rational, very witnessed, and recorded (use secret audio function on your phone). Do not agree to making a recorded witness statement without a solicitor present. Cos guess what now they're going to want to know what took you so long.

Either that or get rid of this package like burn it so there's not a single particle of it left. Never mention it again. If people come looking or police come knocking, you don't know anything. Forever.

Can't delete above post, apologies

You need to report THAT to the police.
absolutely unacceptable and incredibly scary that a package like that is arriving to a home where young children are being cared for.

this reminds me of a story that recently made headlines (in NYC) re small babies overdosing and some dying due to exposure to fentanyl at the day care!

And in the future OP, you never open packages that aren’t addressed to you. Even if they show up at your address.

I receive mail all the time to my home from previous occupants and I return to sender/ wrong address the parcels.
