Urgent help needed - drugs posted to my house

Sparklysunshine · 20/11/2023 18:22

I’ll keep it brief - package came , my address , random name not related to anyone in my house (I’m in U.K. ) had old postage label on back for an address in Canada - the surname was “postage” ..this looked to be from a previous package , basically the packaging was being re used . My address was on a declaration label stating it contained a hat . I opened package as no one in my house claimed it , an old hat , 2 odd socks and inside one of the socks a substantial amount of white powder in a bag ! Postage label says October 6th . It was on my doorstep yesterday . I want to go to the police but I’m worried someone’s going to turn up at my house looking for this . How would it end up at my house - is there such thing as a scam where it’s used my house as an address For some reason ? I just want to know why it’s here , why my address ? I am a childcare provider and have a house full of children ! Thank you for advice

lol at ordering drugs off the “dark web” with “bitcoin”- people frequently get them in the post with nothing more than WhatsApp and a debit card

What drugs and how much?

Be prepared for the police to turn against you and search your house upside down and inside out on a warrant (As in ripping up floorboards, back of electrical switches, under insulation etc)

Don't be absurd!!

sherloc · 20/11/2023 21:15

In the days when we had a police station (to be fair, only three murders in a town of 50,000 since they closed it in 2016), I handed in a purse that someone left on the roof of their car in a petrol station before zooming off.
I have received much criticism since as, though it had ID in it (address 15 miles away) I wasn't offered and didn't ask for a receipt.
The same 'service' had to refer itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct over more than two dozen issues last year, so for those aghast at the suggestion that the OP might be treated badly, it does happen. Hopefully, the posting here indicates outstanding moral fibre.

For other similarly upstanding citizens, a former work colleague who was in desperate financial straits, was approached by the Met police to see if they could use his flat for surveillance. He wasn't offered, but asked for and received a very nice day-rate for accommodating them.

Mycatisdrivingmemad · 20/11/2023 21:30

No it happens really!

Lovelyjubbbly · 20/11/2023 21:32

Oh dear I would contact police

BeigeChair · 20/11/2023 21:37

BorisIsACuntWaffle · 20/11/2023 18:55

Take to police station. Ask to speak in private

No you don’t do this, and why the need to speak in private? Don’t be silly. All you do is phone up 101 and explain and ask what they want you to do or can someone collect.

BorisIsACuntWaffle · 20/11/2023 21:39

@BeigeChair getting through on 101. Good luck

BorisIsACuntWaffle · 20/11/2023 21:40

@BeigeChair in private if there if anyone in waiting area what if drug lords find out you have it

GirlOfTudor · 20/11/2023 21:43

Firstly, you shouldn't have opened a package that wasn't addressed to you. You should e stuck it back in the post box with 'not known at this address. Return to sender.' Written on it. Then you'd have never known what was inside, wouldn't have been stressed and if it couldn't be returned to the sender, it would be royal mail's problem to deal with.
However, as you did... Obviously you need to go to the police. That's not even a question.

DwarfPlanetFiend · 20/11/2023 21:51

Can I have it? 😂

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 20/11/2023 22:01

Why did you open it? I would have wrote Return To Sender on it and send it back?
Just call the police or bring it to a police station.

Gotanygrapes84 · 20/11/2023 22:02

do you have anyone living with you with a history of depression or mental health challenges OP?

that looks distinctively like a substance that sadly people are known to order from abroad to have delivered here to take their own lives. Canada is one of the places where it can be sourced.

glad you handed it in and the police took it seriously, you did the right thing.

CrapGoat · 20/11/2023 22:02

What do folk think the police'll do?
They're likely to say to bring the package to a poilice station and that's that.
If OP says she's very scared of doing that, they might send a couple of PCSOs to pick it up in six weeks' time.

Winterinwonderland · 20/11/2023 22:03

These are drugs - UPS ecstasy tablets. They contain high levels of MDNA and are three times stronger than the standard pill

Do not put them in the bin. They are very toxic.

And yes, THIS! Bank transfer to local dealer who's often in a nice leafy suburb. If you're lucky he'll deliver.
Drugs are everywhere. Dark web, indeed.

Well if that's the case, someone handy with a pestle and mortar has had a right good go at them (see OP's pic) 😬

Winterinwonderland · 20/11/2023 22:11

They smell of vomit and are home made.

Winterinwonderland · 20/11/2023 22:15

They are crumbly because there home made.

There is old advice from the police on the internet saying to dispose down the toilet

IDontHateRainbows · 20/11/2023 22:15

topnoddy · 20/11/2023 20:38

It's semolina by the looks of it .

Best call the pudding squad

They may put the OP in 'custardy'

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 20/11/2023 22:17

Sorry, I just read the update and saw that you did bring it to the authorities. Very strange it got through customs, wonder if it was the old gf as you mentioned, trying to get someone in trouble?

Smineusername · 20/11/2023 22:18

Don't go to the police fs!

People on here are so naive. Say nahin!

A certain amount of intelligence is needed to get a warrant. If the OP is a run of the mill, law abiding citizen then they have nothing to worry about.

SmudgeButt · 20/11/2023 22:31

I agree contact the police.

for fyi - hemp/marijuana is legal in Canada and can be sold/distributed under certain conditions. As far as I'm aware that doesn't make it legal to post to anywhere else in the world. And hemp/marijuana/TCH or whatever isn't white powder. It's liquid or something like a vape or it's the old fashioned baggy of herbs.
