Do you know anyone who considers a wet sink ' messy ' ?

And has to wipe it dry after each use ? We are talking kitchen sink, as well as bathroom sink ?

Are you like this ?

My mother is like this and it drives me insane, as she gets mad if you haven't completely dried the sink after each use.

Of course, food in the sink is gross. A dirty sink is gross, but a sink with just some left over water drops in it ? It's a bit much, surely ?

Or is this a common thing ?

not in my house its not i obviously keep the sink clean but no way do i dry it every time i use it

Spacie · 11/11/2023 19:41

I was once given a telling off at work because I left water droplets on the sink. I quit fairly soon after.

Doseofreality · 11/11/2023 19:42

I always wipe the sink down after using it, takes seconds.

FannyBawz · 11/11/2023 19:42

I’m guessing display towel lady from the other thread would have a fit 😂

normal people - not so much

Is it stainless steel? If so, it should definitely be dried.

Luckily I have a Belfast sink which looks fine when wet.

Makemydaypunk · 11/11/2023 19:43

I do, I like a shiny sink.

Never do this

May rinse it but not drying it

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 11/11/2023 19:46

I doubt it. Life's too short. Why should a stainless steel sink be dried? I literally never dry mine and it's fine <awaits inevitable sink disaster>.

juicelooseabootthishoose · 11/11/2023 19:48

My mum dries the shower bone dry after every shower.

Life is too short!!!

DappledThings · 11/11/2023 19:49

No, that's ludicrous.

AhBiscuits · 11/11/2023 19:50

Life is too short to dry a sink, has never crossed my mind even once in my life to do so.

Isseywith3witchycats · 11/11/2023 19:51

i dry the shower cubicle after each use because its brand new and i want it stay looking that way and we use soap in the shower which is definitely more streak making than shower gel

PTSDBarbiegirl · 11/11/2023 19:51

I would obsessively dry around the sink, draining board etc after every use but not the bottom of inside the actual sink.

RethinkingLife · 11/11/2023 19:51

Yes. Drying sinks seems standard in parts of Germany.

PlaidCushionProductions · 11/11/2023 19:52

Airlines! Always puzzles me that there’s a sign asking you to dry off the sink for the next person 🤷‍♀️

thistimelastweek · 11/11/2023 19:52

I use the sink, I drain the sink and sometimes I give it immediate attention. Like when it's obviously grubby.
More often than not I walk away and deal with it when it's obviously grubby.

CousinGreg55 · 11/11/2023 19:53

I have never even heard until this thread that drying a sink is even a thing

DrNo007 · 11/11/2023 19:54

I once stayed with a Norwegian family who expected everyone to dry the entire shower after using it. Exhausting. 😟

MarmitePizza · 11/11/2023 19:54

Yes - my old boss was obsessed and told people off for leaving so much as a water droplet on the stainless steel sink or draining board.

He was fucking mental though and totally unreasonable about many, many things.

Cindy1802 · 11/11/2023 19:55

This thread is blowing my mind

Matilda1981 · 11/11/2023 19:56

Blimey my sink isn’t ever empty long enough to even think about drying it!

Mamma1982 · 11/11/2023 19:57

I hate having a wet mess around the sink. I wipe it down on the counter top and draining board after every use. It's really lazy and frustrating to use after someone whose left it in a pool of water. I don't understand why people do it and how it doesn't annoy others too. I don't wipe the inside of the sink dry though as who has time for that?! The inside of the sink is supposed to be wet!

idontlikealdi · 11/11/2023 19:58

Always dry it. None of contention in this house. DH wipes down the worktops and sink and leaves water all over the place. It's infuriating.

Which parts of Germany would that be? I'm German but (thankfully) don't know anyone who would dry a sink. Might just be the company I keep, though.
