Do you know anyone who considers a wet sink ' messy ' ?

And has to wipe it dry after each use ? We are talking kitchen sink, as well as bathroom sink ?

Are you like this ?

My mother is like this and it drives me insane, as she gets mad if you haven't completely dried the sink after each use.

Of course, food in the sink is gross. A dirty sink is gross, but a sink with just some left over water drops in it ? It's a bit much, surely ?

Or is this a common thing ?

Yes I dry all sinks, bath and shower after every use

Winnipeggy · 11/11/2023 21:22

I've never dried a sink in my life

TammyJones · 11/11/2023 21:22

Bathroom no, but my new kitchen sink has a black glass top.
Beautiful but , yes, you do really have dry the bit in the middle (wish I'd got a regular one)

PictureOfFlorianTray · 11/11/2023 21:25

I have never dried a sink in 40 odd years.
What madness is this?

I once stayed with a Norwegian family who expected everyone to dry the entire shower after using it. Exhausting. 😟

My new shower has acrylic splash back. Looks amazing. I dry it after use as one wipe and it's done- no buffing needed. So it's easy.

After every use?! I suppose it depends on how many are in your house but our kitchen sink would be used dozens of times a day.

C152 · 11/11/2023 21:32

This is reminiscent of high school cooking class where our (batshit crazy) teacher insisted that one should always dry the inside of a sink after every use, but never explained why. I couldn't understand why anyone would do that then, and it still baffles me now.

betterangels · 11/11/2023 21:32

I do, the shower too. Veey hard water here.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 11/11/2023 21:33

Please will one of the sink driers tell us what you dry it with and what you do with that after. A special sink drying cloth? Does that get washed every time or live somewhere (where? It would be damp) to await the next dry?

I just can't imagine how having a wet cloth that needs to be dried or washed is more convenient than just having a wet sink

Yes every use. There's four of us. Sinks and shower get used multiple times daily. I do have diagnosed OCD though and even with 60mg of fluoxetine daily, I just can't stop lol

Special cloth, put straight on the radiator. Gets changed daily

WrensAreAllDinosaurs · 11/11/2023 21:38

Ex military. Trained to always dry a sink, shower or bathtub.

I also clean the washing machine regularly

TammyJones · 11/11/2023 21:41

I use a bowel so don't dry under that.
I only dry the top.

Me too. Also have an air compressor for cleaning the filter of the hoover

allhellcantstopusnow · 11/11/2023 21:44

Jesus Christ this is insane. Drying a bloody sink? "A Belfast sink looks fine when wet"?!

It's a sink! They're MEANT to have water on/in them.

Do you think men debate whether they should start drying the sink after they've used it? Of course they bloody don't!

Mischance · 11/11/2023 21:45

Honestly, when you are on your deathbed the last thing you will be thinking about is whether you dried your sink - what a waste of life!

rainyskylight · 11/11/2023 21:46

Jesus Christ. And women complain about all the housework falling to them. If you choose to do this nonsense then that’s on you. I bet you all iron your jay cloths as well, because they look nicer all folded up in flat squares.

mrmagpie · 11/11/2023 21:47

What the hell is this now?! I've never dried a sink in my life, I've never even thought about doing it, it's a sink, what's going on?!?!

largeprintagathachristie · 11/11/2023 21:47

I have never even heard of this!

TheKeatingFive · 11/11/2023 21:49

It would never have occurred to me that anyone bothers with any of this crap before I came on mumsnet. 🫠

A special sink drying cloth?! I can't even...

Some people on this thread definitely need hobbies...

I dry all our sinks and the bath/shower after using it, to prevent mould, I also use a stainless steel cleaner after washing dishes and all clothes go in the wash after use

Da Fuk? The sink is not going to go mouldy in the few hours before you use it again.

snowyowl22 · 11/11/2023 21:55

I have to admit I do like to see my bathroom sink wiped dry after use. I don't think it's dirty to leave water droplets in it but it just looks tidier somehow when it's dry. I find myself doing it subconsciously now.

Yes but do you then have to clean your radiator where the wet cloth has been? With another cloth maybe? Then where does that cloth go? 🤔
