Do you know anyone who considers a wet sink ' messy ' ?

And has to wipe it dry after each use ? We are talking kitchen sink, as well as bathroom sink ?

Are you like this ?

My mother is like this and it drives me insane, as she gets mad if you haven't completely dried the sink after each use.

Of course, food in the sink is gross. A dirty sink is gross, but a sink with just some left over water drops in it ? It's a bit much, surely ?

Or is this a common thing ?

My mom is like this !

So how do you dry it? With a towel? Does that then go directly into the wash?

I've literally never even considered doing this or seen anyone do it in my 40 years on this planet 🤯

MissAmbrosia · 11/11/2023 20:09

My dh does this. It drives me bananas and I run the tap asap. It's a sink.

namestuck · 11/11/2023 20:16

Eeeek I do this Blush

wellOkayIsh · 11/11/2023 20:19

Some of you people are animals!
Next thing you'll be saying that you don't dry the toilet after flushing it!
Savages!

DwarfPlanetFiend · 11/11/2023 20:20

I had no idea this was a thing.

FrankieStein403 · 11/11/2023 20:21

We've got very hard water - if you don't dry the sink and especially the drainer - you end up with white stains that then scrubbing :(

I have never even heard until this thread that drying a sink is even a thing

Me neither and its not something I ve ever had a conversation about but I do know someone who is very houseproud and now I imagine that she probably would do that

Zanatdy · 11/11/2023 20:22

Wow, people do this? Why?

Motheranddaughter · 11/11/2023 20:23

I do dry all sinks off every evening
Was brought up by a very tidy Mum

AtomicBlondeRose · 11/11/2023 20:24

Not only do I not dry it, I don’t give the smallest of shits if it’s stained or has watermarks on it. Just don’t look at it 🤷‍♀️ it’s a functional item, not a precious artwork.

Lollipopsandcandycanes · 11/11/2023 20:27

Yes my MIL dries the sink.

CheekyHobson · 11/11/2023 20:29

I dry it (most of the time) because I like it that way but I would never have a crack at someone else for not doing so.

I might tell them I find a dry sink pleasing so if they want to do something small and easy to make me happy (because I know it is totally a matter of personal taste), I will notice and appreciate it.

sipsqueak · 11/11/2023 20:31

A wet sink is the least of my worries I'm afraid

HangTheJib · 11/11/2023 20:32

I bet even Julia Roberts' wrong 'un psychopath husband in Sleeping With The Enemy wouldn't have insisted on the sink being dried.

All of this! Drying sinks sounds like busy work to me!

I always wipe the sink down after using it, takes seconds.

Cleaning the sink before use can take minutes, filling the sink takes minutes, washing the dishes takes minutes, drying the dishes takes minutes, putting the dishes away takes minutes. And so does emptying and cleaning the sink after. Why tf would anyone spend even ‘seconds’ drying the bloody thing afterwards when it’ll dry itself within a few minutes?

BananaSpanner · 11/11/2023 20:35

What are you all drying sinks with? And where do you put that item afterwards.

I had no idea this was a thing.

AuroraForever · 11/11/2023 20:35

Nope. Didn’t even know it was a thing. So after you’ve filled a kettle and water droplets may be in the sink, you have to dry it? And in the bathroom, you’ve washed and brushed your teeth then dried the basin? What about a bath? Does that get dried afterwards too? Bonkers!

PickAChew · 11/11/2023 20:36

Life's far, far too short (and I have too much of a battle with DH over leaving bits of cabbage in the plughole, never mind drops of water in it)

Twillow · 11/11/2023 20:36

BecauseTheWorld · 11/11/2023 19:43

Is it stainless steel? If so, it should definitely be dried.

Luckily I have a Belfast sink which looks fine when wet.

What, why?
What do you do with the cloth you've dried it with, because I wouldn't be using it again without washing it. Or do you keep a special sink-drying-cloth? But then you're wiping a dirty cloth over a clean sink...
It dries in the natural air. Plus the tap's on and off every 5 minutes in our house. I really don't get it. Better things to do and all that.

Changednamesforthis22 · 11/11/2023 20:37

I'm like this with the kitchen sink but not the bathroom, it doesn't look as bad on ceramic but annoys me on stainless steel.
Dh thinks I'm mad for little things like this but also praises me for how lovely our home is.

gravitytester · 11/11/2023 20:39

My mum's sink is stainless steel and I always dry it after I've done dishes there- I hate water marks on it!
Mine is black and composite, so I don't bother at mine.

Isseywith3witchycats · 11/11/2023 19:51

i dry the shower cubicle after each use because its brand new and i want it stay looking that way and we use soap in the shower which is definitely more streak making than shower gel

You need Method shower spray. Game changer. Just a few squirts on the glass after each shower and IT NEVER NEEDS CLEANING!! (apart from the conditioner gloops of my messy child.)
