Do you know anyone who considers a wet sink ' messy ' ?

And has to wipe it dry after each use ? We are talking kitchen sink, as well as bathroom sink ?

Are you like this ?

My mother is like this and it drives me insane, as she gets mad if you haven't completely dried the sink after each use.

Of course, food in the sink is gross. A dirty sink is gross, but a sink with just some left over water drops in it ? It's a bit much, surely ?

Or is this a common thing ?

I don't like lots of water left on sinks or taps so I dry them

Blimey my sink isn’t ever empty long enough to even think about drying it!

This! 😂

CousinGreg55 · 11/11/2023 21:59

A radiator wouldn't be on in the summer to dry a damp cloth in the summer. You would have to have multiple cloths sitting on the radiators all day.

largeprintagathachristie · 11/11/2023 22:00

Hang on. What about when various people in the household run the tap to get a glass of water or fill the kettle? Do they all get trained up to dry the sink each time? What with? Where does that cloth live and is it a different one each time?
My mind is blown.

Yes but do you then have to clean your radiator where the wet cloth has been? With another cloth maybe? Then where does that cloth go? 🤔

No.

My radiators are on twice a day every day of the year

Honestly, when you are on your deathbed the last thing you will be thinking about is whether you dried your sink - what a waste of life!

I'm terminally ill and little things like having my sinks dry, honestly do help my stress and anxiety

Sandysandwich · 11/11/2023 22:05

I don't dry the sink after every use but I will if I've just washed it and cleaned the taps and the drying rack, just because it looks nice and makes the job feel 'finished'.
I do it with a little squeegee that we use to get the condensation off the windows and its quick, I don't have a sink drying towel

It's really not, when I'm terminally ill and always freezing as I'm well below the normal BMI and have to get 6 pints of blood every 3 months due to constantly losing it

MasterBeth · 11/11/2023 22:11

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

Drying the sink??????

StrictlyComeSnoozing · 11/11/2023 22:13

My mum does this. I don't dry anything that's designed to be wet.

Snowdropanddiddums · 11/11/2023 22:13

Hang on… but I use a plastic washing up bowl inside the sink. So should I be taking that out, drying the stainless steel sink, probably should dry the underside of the washing up bowl too, every time the tap goes on?!!

MsRosley · 11/11/2023 22:16

I don't think it has ever occurred to me my whole life to dry a sink. Nor has it occurred to me that anyone else would bother.

Snowdropanddiddums · 11/11/2023 22:17

The random damp cloth permanently on a radiator would annoy me more than a wet sink ever would tbh.

Sallylovesdaisy · 11/11/2023 22:17

We've got a black plastic type sink. Oh god I hate it so much. If I don't wipe it and dry it it starts to turn a horrible grey colour. It's just relentless, and I find myself drying it like a crazy woman after DH has rinsed something and sink has splashes everywhere. Every time it's used, I have to dry it, it's a complete nightmare! Next job is a nice new stainless steel installed, will make life a lot easier, and I can't wait!

Blessedbethefruitz · 11/11/2023 22:23

I knew my mother's people must be somewhere! Only a 15 year age gap between us, but I can't take the kids to stay, partly as we're not allowed food or water (including breastmilk for the youngest or prescription high calorie milk for the eldest, who still feeds overnight) upstairs... Try leaving a single tea spoon in the sink, or farting in the toilet, I dare you 😏

Mrsmch123 · 11/11/2023 22:23

Yup my husband🙄also insists on drying the bath.....well the edges and the taps after a shower as it sprays/splashes a bit. The actual bath is fine to be wet not sure why it's ok for that to be wet🤷🏻‍♀️

Caswallonthefox · 11/11/2023 22:26

What about leaving bubbles in the kitchen sink?

SallyWD · 11/11/2023 22:31

Same

GG1986 · 11/11/2023 22:33

Eurgh my mum is like this! I'm afraid to use her sinks! I couldn't give a shit if my sinks are wet at my house!

buckeejit · 11/11/2023 22:36

I don't consider the room messy if you can see the sink. Howzat?

OdeToBarney · 11/11/2023 22:42

I do bathroom sinks so the limescale doesn't dry on the chrome and then you need to use chemicals to clean it which ruin the chrome plating. Not the kitchen though, that's stainless steel and can stay wet 🤣 shower gets dried too. That was fitted 5 years ago and still looks brand new.
