To think this is a lot of money?

£100.. for balayage. I'm in the north. I've never paid more than £70 for my hair.. maybe £80 absolute max so I nearly hit the floor when she said £100. I don't dislike it but it's not what I showed her.. photo is what I showed vs what she's done.

Is this the standard price now for balayage? I'd been to same hairdresser for years but I moved away.

I think that what you got is nicer than what you wanted tbh.
It’s a decent price.

ShutTheFrontDoor · 14/10/2023 16:20

It’s not the same colour at all, yours looks lovely but the first photo is gorgeous.
I don’t think £100 is too bad.

SisSuffragette · 14/10/2023 16:21

I think the price is fine and your hair looks lovely!

northernbird1988 · 14/10/2023 16:23

Aww, Thank you. I think the blonde is what's letting it down as I wanted more darker/caramel autumnal tones where as this is still very blonde. I'm not crying about it and will live with it but it's disappointing when it isn't what was in your head isn't it!

I remember always paying around £50 for ages.. then went up to £60. But maybe £100ish must be the going rate now even up north? I just thought it sounded an awful lot as I didn't have any Olaplex treatments or anything.

I might have to go back to box dye before too long Sad

I paid £170 at the start of the year, and I am in the West Midlands, I was outraged.

cherrypied · 14/10/2023 16:24

£100 is cheap if that included cur and blow dry.

I have balayage and its looks like yours. The first one has more highlights in it too i reckon.

I am no hair expert i hasten to add

northernbird1988 · 14/10/2023 16:25

@EsmeT Good lord 😳 I'd have needed an ambulance not a hairdresser if it had come to that price! Haha x

Millybob · 14/10/2023 16:25

That would be a half-price bargain around here and I'd be thrilled at the price. The first photo looks like something has gone wrong; yours is much nicer.

cherrypied · 14/10/2023 16:25

It looks nice by the way! Just a fairly standard balayage. It'll be low maintenance.

northernbird1988 · 14/10/2023 16:25

@cherrypied Yeah it was a cut, blow dry, curled etc. I think you might be right they do look more like highlights in the photo I showed x

@Millybob @cherrypied ahh thank you. You've made me feel a lot better about it Flowers I never trust DH's opinion as he's told me some of my most awful styles looked nice.. don't think he dare say otherwise! x

Looks lovely.

£100 is pretty standard.

Blackandwhitemakesgrey · 14/10/2023 16:27

I think what you got is way nicer than what you wanted. It looks really lovely.

MrsEG · 14/10/2023 16:29

£100 would be very cheap for that where I am in Manchester! Also I think it looks lovely.

NewYorkBride · 14/10/2023 16:30

I paid £185 in East Anglia

TimeForTeaAndG · 14/10/2023 16:31

I pay £60 for a colour, cut and blow dry so £100 for balayage would be about right.
You could go back and ask if they'd tone down the blonde a bit as it is quite a bit lighter than the example but I think it's lovely what they've done.

I trained as a hairdresser though I don't work in the industry anymore and it was £100 for a full head of foils back then.

Creativebee · 14/10/2023 16:32

I’m in the Northwest and pay £130 plus tip on top, I think £100 is really good.

vapesareforsnakes · 14/10/2023 16:34

£100 is an excellent price and your hair is gorgeous.

TimetoPour · 14/10/2023 16:36

Midlands here.

Was it a salon or home hairdresser? I’ve had quote’s recently for balayage , cut & blow dry (no treatments) £210 at a salon and £100 for home hairdresser.

Either way, you got a bargain.

Hullabalooza · 14/10/2023 16:37

I pay £100 for the same sort of thing and I’m in a medium sized town in an insignificant part of the country. It looks really nice, but if you want to tone it down you can use a colour toner such as knight and wilson from Amazon to warm or tint it a bit. I often do this to my balayage with a touch of pink. They’re not like normal box dyes, they’re more of a stain that you can mix with conditioner to apply and then they gradually wash out.

@EsmeT Good lord 😳 I'd have needed an ambulance not a hairdresser if it had come to that price! Haha x

It’s cheap for Balyage but what you have doesn’t look like balyage. I would wash and style as normal. I think you’re going to be cross.

InSpainTheRain · 14/10/2023 16:48

Looks gorgeous, I'd be thrilled. I paid 90 for cut and bliw dry recently (in the south) so your price sounds decent.

northernbird1988 · 14/10/2023 16:48

@TimetoPour it was in a salon! Either my hairdresser has been undercharging me for years or it was cheap because there's more competition than there is round here? I'll just have to get my roots or something next time as I can't afford £100 every 6/8 weeks xx

northernbird1988 · 14/10/2023 16:49

@AnneValentine oh really Sad she's done nice curls so I don't want to straighten it but at the same time I want to see how it will look day to day x
