To think this is a lot of money?

£100.. for balayage. I'm in the north. I've never paid more than £70 for my hair.. maybe £80 absolute max so I nearly hit the floor when she said £100. I don't dislike it but it's not what I showed her.. photo is what I showed vs what she's done.

Is this the standard price now for balayage? I'd been to same hairdresser for years but I moved away.

You need a colour correction now, which is a lot more technical and will cost more.

Id go back to the salon and ask for a refund, or see if there’s a more experienced stylist who can correct it for you.

I have highlighted hair and got it done at a salon in Brighton and he did a fantastic job!

@Flutterbye22 the girl who did it is the salon owner 🤦🏼‍♀️ all she has offered is apparently a toner and to put some dark in the blonde.. she reckons that will fix it 😒

Okay, in that case - definitely need to go elsewhere! It sounds really unprofessional and like she hasn’t got a clue what she is doing.

I feel like I know what you wanted… you needed a dark base all over and lovely lighter pieces painted through it.

I've straightened it and must admit I'm not over the moon..

£100 is very cheap for a balayage. I'm in the north and usually pay at least £165.

However, from this photo, it doesn't look like a balayage, and it's certainly not the colour that you asked for.

Unfortunately, with hairdressers, I find that you often get what you pay for, especially when it comes to colour. Colouring correctly is a complex skill and a good, experienced colourist will charge a high price because people will pay it. When getting balayage I try to find the best salon/colourist that I can. Whenever I've gone cheaper, I've regretted it.

I've no idea on price, but I was going to say if you wanted your pic then surely you'd need the main part of your hair dyed darker as well? What she's done is lighter but it blends in a bit better than darker colours.

HOWEVER - your later pic shows she didn't do a great job anyway. I do my own balayage and it's better than that tbh.

MrsHughesPinny · 15/10/2023 16:05

I’d call that cheap. Mine (when I was in the UK) was usually £140-170. Where I am now it’s almost double that… 😭

@PleaseGiveMeBackMySummer - thanks. I normally don't miss reading all the OP's answers and I did this time, the straightened version doesn't look great, it is uneven. If she doesn't see that, then I wouldn't be keen on letting her anywhere near it again either. It's not cheap,if she's done a crappy job, it's an expensive mistake!

I need to move £270 odd down south!

notquitesoyoung · 16/10/2023 01:56

Your hair looks lovely and from what I know of colouring it sounds very reasonable given it also including a cut & finish. The base colour in the first photo looks much darker from what I can see of your base colour which might impact what's possible colour wise however the hairdresser should explain if that's the case so you can decide for yourself.
