To think this is a lot of money?

£100.. for balayage. I'm in the north. I've never paid more than £70 for my hair.. maybe £80 absolute max so I nearly hit the floor when she said £100. I don't dislike it but it's not what I showed her.. photo is what I showed vs what she's done.

Is this the standard price now for balayage? I'd been to same hairdresser for years but I moved away.

£350 round here (south west)

It's more like a dip dye.

This.
That is NOT Balayage.

Womencanlift · 14/10/2023 20:19

A usual cut and colour for me is close to £200 and once every six months I get a hair treatment that doubles that. Would love my hair bill to be £100

Mydogmybestfriend · 14/10/2023 20:29

I'm near London so that's a normal price here but your hair looks lovely. Obviously not like the photo at all as it's way lighter

londonguild · 14/10/2023 20:35

I pay about 350 in London for highlights, cut and blow dry!

PleaseGiveMeBackMySummer · 14/10/2023 21:01

Oh dear, now you have straightened it, it does look pretty bad... sorry @northernbird1988 Sad As a pp said, it looked better wavy/curly - on the first photo you put on.

On the subsequent photos you have added, it looks like you bleached it yourself about 6 months ago, and the dark roots are growing through. This is poor. I would want my money back, OR to have it fixed. That does look shoddy.

@LaurieFairyCake

Looks fantastic !

Dead cheap, what a bargain(six)

Have you both seen the additional photos the OP has put on further into the thread?

It really does not look 'lovely' or 'fantastic!' Sad It looks like she bleached it 6 months ago and the roots are growing back - OR a 16 year old trainee did a shoddy dip dye.

(Sorry @northernbird1988 Flowers )

HighlandCowbag · 14/10/2023 21:08

Ahh mate that's properly shoddy. There is too much contrast between the blonde and the brown and its wonky. Plus the blonde looks blocky and over processed.

Whereabouts in Yorkshire? I can recommend a s yorks salon that can correct it, but would be more expensive than the £100. I pay £110 I think for cut and foils and blow dry, with treatments and a toner.

Thatwouldbeme · 14/10/2023 21:25

I have very short hair and paid over £100 for bleached highlights and toner. I think that's expensive. You probably have more hair in your fringe than I do on my head

Shadowonasun · 14/10/2023 21:29

These pics are a reminder to myself why I don't go to hairdressers anymore. Don't get me wrong, OP, your hair really does look great. But on what planet is it even remotely similar to the first picture? Everything is wrong, completely different colours, etc. It's not the question of which one other people prefer, you asked for the first and got something entirely different.

Always happens to me, changed salons countless times, from cheap to high end. You show them one pic, nothing outrageous or difficult, they do something completely different and then pretend that it's what you wanted and it's supposed to be like that.

£100 is a normal standard price. If you get what you want, that is.

ActDottie · 14/10/2023 21:37

£100 would be cheap to me. Agree your hair looks much nicer than the picture.

Johnisafckface · 14/10/2023 21:40

I guess I’m weird as I actually like the picture better. It looks more naturally blended to me. But for what you got I’d say it’s a good price.

xyz111 · 14/10/2023 21:50

I would find a new hairdresser as she hasn't done what you asked. I went through 4 hairdressers until I found one that actually did what I showed her! Drove me mad!!!

xyz111 · 14/10/2023 21:53

Sorry, posted before I saw your updated photo. I would message her with the photo you showed her and the photo you've took and say it's not what you asked for. She needs to fix it or refund you.

northernbird1988 · 14/10/2023 21:59

I know.. it's terrible isn't it 🤦🏼‍♀️ it's bright blonde at the bottom and then uneven dark at the top.

Would it be easily fixable??

Really nice and tbh that’s cheap

stickybear · 14/10/2023 22:05

It looks lovely! I pay about £120 just for roots and a trim, South West

Changeditforyou · 14/10/2023 22:05

Oh whoops seen updates pics, doesn’t look very blended, so not very balayage, more ombré if anything I guess?

Spidey66 · 14/10/2023 22:10

I pay £150 for highlights (plus wash, cut and blow dry). I'm in London but it's a bog standard salon towards the salon so 170 seems OK. I think yours looks lovely.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/10/2023 22:12

Costs a lot more where I live!

tennesseewhiskey1 · 14/10/2023 22:26

I pay almost triple that in London - my hair is very long.

SD1978 · 14/10/2023 23:18

It looks lovely and that a pretty decent price, but they haven't used the right tone of highlights if number 1 was the inspiration, it's more coppery and you got more caramel- however that may be because your base colour is different from oic 1 too- I think your hair looks absolutely lovely!

Glitterybee · 14/10/2023 23:20

My balayage is £120

Also I think the colour you got is much nicer than the photo you showed her!

Don't just look at the photo in the OP's first post. Look at her other pics! It looks far from 'absolutely lovely!' Even the OP herself thinks it's poor.

littlekipling · 14/10/2023 23:56

I'm in Dorset. It's around £180 for a decent balyage. Your hair looks gorgeous, they did a great job x
