Joe Biden speaking now.

I think there are states now working on de-escalation including obvs the US, UK and Jordan.

pickledandpuzzled · 07/10/2023 19:50

Impossible situation. We shouldn’t be starting from here, but here we are.

Fizzadora · 07/10/2023 19:50

Fucking ridiculous

Lamelie · 07/10/2023 19:50

Thank you.
I’ve been watching threads today and just feeling inchoate and helpless.

LittleRedYarny · 07/10/2023 19:51

Absolutely, agree. Setting aside the “fault” this is just brutally sad for the masses on both sides who have to shoulder the burden of pain and fear.

AutumnCrow · 07/10/2023 19:51

Biden warning that this is not a time for anyone to 'seek advantage'. Good point well made to all 'sides' and civilian groups.

TomatoSandwiches · 07/10/2023 19:51

What makes you think this thread can achieve what no other platform has been able to accomplish?

Because you asked nicely?

Good luck with that.

AutumnCrow · 07/10/2023 19:52

Netanayu looking at forming unity government meanwhile.

Poppysmom22 · 07/10/2023 19:53

It's hard to believe that in this day and age we are still doing this to each other

Worddance · 07/10/2023 19:53

It's incredibly sad. Such suffering.

EtonMessy · 07/10/2023 19:53

For innocent civilians on both sides it’s absolutely horrendous .

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/10/2023 19:54

I was horrified when I heard the news thus morning, and it just gets worse.

If any other country attacked another, people would be calling that country out.

Palestinians attack Israel, killing and hurting mass people - "it's sad on both sides".

WTF. Let's call this as it is. It's atrocious that Hamas, a terrorist organisation, gets to bomb civilians and hide behind a long standing conflict. What they've done is awful.

Noicant · 07/10/2023 19:57

I feel sorry for all of them, no-one absolutely no-one should live with the threat of being bombed. There are going to be Israeli and Palestinian mums trying to protect their children right now and terrified that they won’t be able to. It’s fucking heartbreaking.

Time4TERF · 07/10/2023 20:01

God bless everyone involved.

I'm a pretty optimistic person, but I just don't see how the conflict can ever be peacefully resolved at this point? The two sides will never trust each other.

There are always innocent civilians on both sides caught up in conflict. I don’t hold every single civilian responsible for the actions of their leaders or militants within their country.

Hell for everyone, so sad. I can't see how it can ever be resolved. Sympathy to anyone affected.

Poudretteite · 07/10/2023 20:19

I have family in Israel. It is terrifying.

Catsfrontbum · 07/10/2023 20:23

It’s a terribly sad situation. Israel seems to be hell bent on a mass land grab and erasing Palestinians. Palestinians seem to be radicalised en masses from brith to hate all of israel. Meanwhile ordinary people want nothing more than peace.

Yes, faults on both sides and on both sides the innocent are suffering. I often feel it's like a couple of young children poking each other until one reacts and the other starts crying. During the Yugoslavia break up my then 4yo DS told me their mummies should send them to their rooms until they are prepared to be kind and share, I often think he twigged the only solution to so many conflicts.

DuvetsAndDreams · 07/10/2023 20:36

Every innocent life lost on either side is one too many.

lavenderlou · 07/10/2023 20:38

Was trying to explain the situation to my DC today (11 and 13). They couldn't understand why there was still hostility after so many years. Sadly it's one of those situations where there doesn't seem to be a solution that will work for everyone.

ConcreteUnderpants · 07/10/2023 20:39

A terrorist group has attacked a democracy, targeting and killing innocent people.
