Many of you out there who’ve never had Covid?

Not really an AIBU subject so apologies, thought it might reach a wider audience than buried in the Covid section!

I’ve a nasty cold and just taken yet another Covid test which is negative. Beginning to feel like a bit of an anomaly & freak of nature as I don’t know anyone else that’s never had it (always tested when I’ve had colds and weekly when tests were free). Slept next to DH when he had it and DD has had it twice. I assumed I’d get it when they did & didn’t really take precautions as it seemed inevitable I’d get it too.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not keen to come down with the bloody thing, just seems a little odd!

I haven't, as far as I know. Family and everyone else I know has had it at least once.

gamerchick · 21/09/2023 11:42

I haven't had it. Or haven't tested positive for it. Rest of household has had it.

But I know people who had also escaped the past few years and are now dropping with it so I'm assuming my time will come.

blobby10 · 21/09/2023 11:43

I haven't had it. Had very close contact to both parents last year when they had it (before they had tested) and still didn't get anything. Haven't really had any colds or sniffles either tbh. Having said that I don't mix or mingle with lots of other people at close quarters so maybe thats it?

LittleLlama · 21/09/2023 11:43

I know a few people who have never had it including my husband, son, MIL and myself. I don’t know how we have managed to avoid it, mostly luck I guess.

x2boys · 21/09/2023 11:44

I have had it once my son has had it twice at different times as far as I know my dh,and youngest son have never had it 🤷

veiledsentiments · 21/09/2023 11:44

Not had it. Have flown loads as I live abroad, and have lots of UK family occasions. ED not had it either. Youngest has had it 4 times. OH once, but was in the UK at the time.

MariePaperRoses · 21/09/2023 11:44

Never had it and neither has my husband or our children or other family members.

CinnamonBear · 21/09/2023 11:44

I only know two people who haven't had it. Both work in hospitals and both of them still testing regularly. I'm amazed neither of them have contracted it yet!

Inmy40 · 21/09/2023 11:46

Me too. It’s been in the house with no one isolating at least 3 times. I’ve been on planes, public transport, hospitals, cinema, theatre but no never got it. I get all the kids colds regularly and always test out of interest to see if it’s covid as I’m baffled as to why I never catch it but nope nearly 4 years on I’m still waiting

Phos · 21/09/2023 11:46

Never knowingly had it despite sleeping right next to my husband when he had it! I tested around then to see if I was just asymptomatic but all tests were negative. I’ve only been unwell myself once that I suspected could have been it in around July 2022 but again tested negative.

Picturethat · 21/09/2023 11:47

I haven't, just gone through my workplace for the umpteenth time and I have somehow escaped it again! Only had one cold since 2019 and tested negative throughout.

Mischance · 21/09/2023 11:47

Nope - never had it.

To my knowledge, I haven't,

Not had any type of cold or cough in ages

YukoandHiro · 21/09/2023 11:50

They said at the time it first broke out that some people had natural immunity.
I've only had it once but felt horrific, so I'd say be grateful for it!

Beanqueenie76 · 21/09/2023 11:51

Nope never had it and never tested. Probably just usual seasonal cold.

SparklyLeprechaun · 21/09/2023 11:51

I had it, but DH and the DCs haven't (even when half their school was off with Covid)

Berlinlover · 21/09/2023 11:52

I’m a supermarket worker and never got it.

Fr1day · 21/09/2023 11:55

Never had it as far as I know, despite being in close contact with multiple people with it. DS got it for the first time a couple of weeks ago so thought my time had come to catch it this time, but nothing.

Vetoncall · 21/09/2023 11:56

I haven't had it as far as I'm aware. Haven't had more than a mild cold in the last few years so unless it was asymptomatic I'm pretty sure I've avoided it. DP and both of my parents haven't had it either.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 21/09/2023 11:58

🙋🏻‍♀️I've never had it. I work in healthcare and used public transport all the way through. Can you be immune?

MintJulia · 21/09/2023 12:01

I had a cold and loss of taste/smell in May but tested negative. I had chemo last year and had to test for covid every week, but always negative.

My ds has never had covid. He's 15 and it just doesn't seem to touch him.

Nannyfannybanny · 21/09/2023 12:03

I joined the "covidence study group" 3 years ago with Queen Mary's university London. Have never had a symptom or positive test.... have tested when the grandkids have been in contact and gone down with it. Haven't had a cold or similar for over 15 years, can't actually remember the last one. I'm 72,was nursing over 40 years, and very fussy about hand washing . My youngest DD says I have a magic immune system. Prof doing the study says either that or I am 18!!

mateysmum · 21/09/2023 12:04

I avoided the bloody thing for 3 years ... until Tuesday. Thought I just had a bad cold then somebody I'd been with told me they had covid, so I tested and it was positive. DH had it 2 years ago and I didn't get it. Really annoyed but then I guess I've been lucky so far.

Whohashiddenthebiscuits · 21/09/2023 12:04

Thanks for the responses - lots of you then and obviously not that uncommon & I’m not about to be rushed off to some secure facility as my blood holds some key!

To the PP upthread who commented upthread to be grateful, I agree & am. Various family members & friends have been really ill with it. But like another PP, I’m kind of expecting when my luck runs out that I might get it with some vengeance!
