One for the ladies.. my first Hollywood wax was horrendous

I thought my pain threshold was okay. I’ve had microblading, lip fillers, nose piercing.. but I’ve never felt pain like it.

I went for a Hollywood this morning and ended up getting an extended bikini wax because I couldn’t stand the pain any longer! I gave up. It honestly made me nearly cry and she wasn’t even at the worst bit yet. She did mention that because I had shaved last week, it’ll be more sensitive and also because my period was also last week.

It still really really hurts now and it feels burny/really uncomfortable.

I use hair removal cream! Never looked back!

Well, yes. You had a stranger rip out your pubes by the root. What did you think it would feel like?

Would it have hurt less if someone OP knew had done it?
Of course not.
I suspect "by a stranger" is another use of emotive language to shame women who make a choice that differs from your own.

Do you believe you actually have any influence over other people, LastChanceChica? You can use whatever inflammatory terms you like, ripping, bald vagina (which is really not possible).

I used to be proud of holding feminist ideals but I'm really not any more because I don't like being in the company of women who do exactly what you and others of your ilk are doing. You're talking to women as if they don't understand the process, the pain or the cost. Patronising just about covers it.

If you like to believe that women do this only for men then you must. It's not true in many cases, certainly not for me. Women get away with creepy behaviour that men would not, because they are women. A man taking this much interest would be told to fuck off in no uncertain terms.

Raw nerve?
Please point to the post where I mentioned men?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 20/09/2023 11:13

No raw nerves other than you're getting on them a bit. It's irritating to have to explain oneself to anybody about this, let alone another woman (if you are one?)

Why do you think we do this then? If not for the menz? You're painting yourself into a corner, just so you know.

LowbrowVictoriana · 20/09/2023 11:19

I'm just waiting now for someone to say, as they do on EVERY SINGLE THREAD about this, that no one has made their choice (to remove or groom pubic hair) "in a vacuum".
There's always one 😀

It is true.

But most things we do are influenced by society so it's not strictly a bad thing. I have long hair, I like it. I recognise that if a buzzcut was seen as the beauty standard, I might take my bikini shaver to my head...

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 20/09/2023 11:27

I agree, Shelly. I bought a Renault Clio because, at the time, Thierry Henry (the twat) was constantly on the tv saying how brilliant and sexy they were... Angry
Terrible car! On the plus side, it was so terrible, it had a dashboard fire and is no more... Grin

This has really got to you.
Why?
Apparently people DONT do it for the menz at all. They do it for themselves! Isn’t that lovely. Such a beautiful thing having your peep hair ripped out.

You my dear, certainly need not explain yourself to anyone, you are choosing to. I doubt anyone cares. I don’t for example. What you do to yourself is up to you.

Yet here you are again, lastchancechica, you don't care, have no skin in the game but here you are with your creepy posts. Ugh.

Yes, it was sad. Never buy one, that's my advice.

You're right, nothing does happen without outside influence somewhere along the line, following fashion is a clear example of that.

LowbrowVictoriana · 20/09/2023 11:59

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

Va va voom!

(Which, appropriately for this thread, sounds a little like a euphemism for vulva)

😂 Are you trying to be funny? ‘No skin in the game’. How on earth do you actually know that? You really are not that important (or funny) you know!

Maybe some self reflection is required?

There is no amount of money in the world would make me have my pubes waxed out of my body

Realistically that's not true, everything has its price I suppose, but I wouldn't do it for fun Shock

With you there 100%

isthismylifenow · 20/09/2023 13:07

I used to have everything off (I have to admit, probably for the wrong reasons in a failing marriage). The first few times were pretty bad, then it got easier during the wax as the times went on.

I also have other issues, and due to that, see the gynecologists twice a year. I always thought it best if I was all spruced up for the appt (again now in hindsight that is ridiculous). I would also have a wax a few days beforehand so that the bruising, swelling and horrendous rash that came with it, had a chance to calm down before then. But, every single time I saw the Dr, I had an infection or thrush of some sort. After this happened a multiple times, he asked me if I was waxing. Long story short, I stopped after his advice to do so. Just should mention that I cannot even use scented soaps or washes even on labia as they give me terrible thrush, so you can imagine was hot wax was doing. This is a man who sees vulvas, vaginas bare and natural, all day every day. He did say he would prefer it if it was not the norm now, as it does cause the area to become higher risk for infection (where the hair is pulled out, leaving the pores open). And burns too. So that was the last time I ever had a wax, I just trim edgeswith a lady shaver now if I need to. And I should mention in about the 5 years since I stopped, I have perhaps had thrush twice since. I used to have to use a Canestan pessary at least every 2nd month back then.

Not to say this is the case for everyone. But if you do wax all (including the inner lips) and you get thrush quite often, there may be a link.

ethelredonagoodday · 20/09/2023 13:20

I've had waxing for years and regularly have intimate waxing. I can be done fairly painlessly, but the therapist needs to use hot wax, AND enough oil or whatever it is to stop the wax sticking to your actual skin. If they do that, it's fine. I did briefly go to a salon where they used talc and it was nowhere near as good. For that reason I stopped going. With a decent therapist, I've been known to nod off during mine! It shouldn't really hurt.
