To think this just sums up XL Bully owners?

Look North last night. Peter Levy is interviewing a woman who owns two XL Bullys. Both cropped and docked which she says happened in another country before she got them (yeah, course it did).

Peter asks her “so why do people want these dogs in the first place, what’s the attraction for you?”

She replies “well I wanted dogs that were good with kids and famines and stuff so we got XL Bully’s cos they’re great with kids”

Wtf? If I didn’t know better I’d swear this was a spoof interview. Good with kids and families?? These dogs have been responsible for the most human deaths in dog attacks in the UK in recent years!!! Just last week an 11 year CHILD was attacked by one of these dogs … so when looking for a child friendly dog she bypasses the golden retriever etc and goes for the breed with the biggest track record of killing humans …

He then asked her if she will comply with the muzzle when the laws are changed - she said NO.

Then the cherry on the cake … he asked her “would you leave your child alone with these dogs?” And she said “yes, absolutely. I leave my two year old alone with them all the time whilst I’m busy making dinner etc”

Honestly the interview couldn’t have been any more gobsmacking.

This just sums up XL bully owners doesn’t it? Thick as pig shit with no regard to their own safety or the safety of others.

She probably doesn't want to comply with the muzzle law because she knows there's a good chance it'll have her hand off if she tries to put one on it!

Zebedee55 · 19/09/2023 16:17

These dogs are penis extensions for insecure males. Shame that dopey women go along with it.🙄

Or she’s too thick/lazy to muzzle train them! I can’t understand the stupidity around these dogs! I really can’t

Yes, that's right, because every single XL Bully owner must be exactly the same 🙄

Don't be so bloody offensive and ignorant.

I shouldn't find this funny, but I did laugh a little 🤭. I'm sorry.

Its good to reduce women to just parotting what they're told when you want to blame men for something a woman has said

Missingmyusername · 19/09/2023 16:21

Meanwhile Telegraph states that pit bull semen is being shipped into the U.K at £16k a pop.

We will never learn and it’ll never stop.

@Ozarkz your sweeping generalisation is plain ignorant. The irony of you labelling people “thick as pigshit”….😂😂

Yes, they are all the same. No decent person of sound mind would WANT one of these dogs unless it was to use as a status symbol. Give me ONE genuine reason why someone might one one of these dogs … I’ll wait …

A lot of people unfortunately have bought into the "nanny dog" lie that was spread originally about pit bulls I think but has bled into these great ugly fuckers as well.

My dog is an ex therapy dog who worked with children with additional needs and was literally bomb proof, lowest bite risk possible, you could pry open his mouth and remove a prime fillet steak from between his jaws and he'd do nothing, put through testing to prove it... and I still wouldn't leave him alone with a 2yo. Just in case. This jellybrain is leaving her 2yo with a creature bred specifically to kill with a bite like a hyena and thinks that's fine. No hope for these people unfortunately.

MixedTocopherols · 19/09/2023 16:23

It seems like some people feel it’s a part of their cultural identity to be a champion of this type of dog, it’s really weird. Like XL Bullys are some sort of downtrodden underdog (no pun intended) and if they were to admit to any doubts about them being safe, it would be a sign of weakness or almost a betrayal, letting a whole community down.

So they simply cannot and never will shift.

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 19/09/2023 16:24

She shouldn’t be responsible for a hamster let alone a very powerful dog breed.

I never ever left my kids alone with my dog. Meant I didn’t have an unsupervised piss for years but thems the breaks when you get a dog. The dog used to enjoy me reading out the shampoo bottle to him anyway Grin

RunningUpThatBuilding · 19/09/2023 16:24

I think it’s highly inappropriate to leave a 2 year old alone with ANY type of dog! I say this as a dog lover.

Two year olds could easily decide on a whim to see what happens if they poke the dog in the eye or any number of other mad scenarios!

When I was that age I got bit in the lip by a family members dog as I thought it would be a good idea to play horse with it.

Fault in that case lay with the adults - not me or the dog!

I’m not the one bypassing 100s of different dog breeds to buy a breed responsible for the most attacks on humans in the UK - that IS thick as pigshit

Our accountant has one. I don't see the appeal myself but he and his missus are not thick.

No doubt some examples of the breed are as placid as any other dog? There must be some out there, as my accountant's dog has not hit the headlines yet.

I haven’t seen the interview you are talking about, and yes, a parent leaving a young child alone with any breed of dog is stupid. That STILL doesn’t mean that every single individual who owns a particular breed of dog is “thick as pigshit”.

MintsPi · 19/09/2023 16:29

Owning an animal with the potential to horrifically kill a grown man is pure stupidity. These owners believe their dogs are special and would never attack. They can't comprehend that the owners of the dogs that have mauled people to death also thought the same thing.

The upsetting thing is that although they are making the choice to own a killer dog they are also risking the lives of others. Poor Ian Price did not own one of these dogs yet suffered an horrendous death due to one. You can't reason with these people. The only way they will ever learn is if they or a loved one are killed by their own dogs.

JenniBlanco · 19/09/2023 16:30

I feel so sorry for these dogs. Bred by humans, brought into the world for whatever reason and now having to cope with suddenly being muzzled.

And then there will be the next breed, when these become obsolete, and the next.
If the government are really interested in solving the problem of dangerous dogs, this is not the solution. This is lazy government, with no real idea what to do, so they solve it a bit, for one breed. No talk of proper regulation.
I can guarantee we'll be having the same debate in the next couple of years because this is just lip service.

PaulaZackMayo · 19/09/2023 16:31

Me and my DH were out with a couple of friends yesterday and I started a conversation about them and got told (again) it's not the dog it's the owner. I'm not saying they are all nasty but they all have the the power to kill so why would you risk it.

Like PPs have said it's not wise to leave any dog alone with a child but the woman being interviewed leaving a Bully dog with a 2 year old is just madness.

SpringViolet · 19/09/2023 16:31

YANBU especially the bit about leaving children with them. Absolutely idiotic and the common sense of a amoeba.

They expect there not to be a problem until there is, and why the actual fuck would you take the totally unnecessary risk of having an animal capable of killing someone horrifically in a matter of minutes in your own home anyway? Not only your own DC but random people/kids in the street.

I wonder if they follow safety guidelines like keeping knives/medication out of reach of children, removing blind strings, choking hazards, while ignoring the danger of the hulking beast sleeping on their bed.

BelindaBears · 19/09/2023 16:34

I didn’t even leave my child at 2 alone with my cats (albeit that was mostly for their sake). Thick as fuck indeed. There must have been a serious propaganda campaign carried out on behalf of these dogs by someone because they don’t even look nice.

Pizzanight · 19/09/2023 16:36

I saw an interview the other day with a man who was upset and worried about what he will now do with his litter of puppies complaining that responsible owners should not be targeted. He was then asked how his Bully became pregnant, he explained it was an accidental pregnancy after his dog with left with his sister's unneutered male..

Hermittrismegistus · 19/09/2023 16:37

The women I've seen that own these type of dogs are the same women that love a "bad boy" / piece of shit type of partner. Everyone knows these men and dogs are no good but certain women feel the need to prove society wrong about them.

The men that own these seem to see them as a penis extender/ weapon.
