To not be surprised to see threads on LGB being questioned now?!

Just typed a reply and the thread disappeared quickly (makes a change as when it's trans related ones they stay?!)
So it's not a TAAT, it's just to say that after all the anti trans rhetoric you see on here sometimes, it comes as absolutely no surprise that there are now more threads attacking lesbian and gay couples ( not natural was the phrase used)
Not to mention one still on the go as far as I'm aware that refers to LGBTQ as "special rainbow people"
YABU you're imagining things
YANBU things seem to be ramping up against LGBT people in general
(I say this as someone who's straight and not trans)

I‘m not really noticing an increase in negative commented against gay/lesbian/bi people - it’s all just focussed on trans people from what I can see.

But some bigoted people will from time to time let slip their broader bigotry when talking about their sadly more generally accepted bigotry. These are the same people that would probably already call gay people fags in private so not really any change in attitude from my perspective.

Clymene · 15/09/2023 23:47

Not noticed it. I'm pretty hot on homophobia

catgirl1976 · 16/09/2023 00:06

I think a lot of people questioning the TRA agenda ARE LGB. It’s an incredibly homophobic ideology as well as everything else.

you’ll get a few bigots who are anti LGB in all views but I really think you’re stretching things if you think the concerns about gender woo are because people are homophobia. Quite the opposite in most cases

Ok
You're usually pretty vocal on trans threads though so would have hoped you'd have more to say than no, I havent seen it?
Fair enough though if actually haven't

Oh god here we go… ‘anti-trans rhetoric’ 🙄

…by that do you mean ‘perfectly reasonable concerns voiced by women about their rights and dignities being infringed by men’?

I would superglue myself to a wall for LGB rights but this is different. Only the feeble minded or people who genuinely hate women refuse to see it.

SueVineer · 16/09/2023 00:32

I haven’t noticed that at all. Those at the front of the gc movement in the uk are LGB - the trans ideology is considered deeply homophobic as well as misogynistic by many (including me).

FOJN · 16/09/2023 00:33

...anti trans rhetoric...

Did you mean pro women and safeguarding?

It's almost as if there is a clash of rights which requires a reasoned debate.

Some people might describe you as a GF to frame the discussion as anti trans.

There are few things more homophobic than claiming two men can be in a lesbian relationship with each other.

AncientBallerina · 16/09/2023 00:34

´Bigot’ has become so overused - it’s now meaningless. Up there with ‘allied with the far right’ All these stock phrases designed to shut people up. We all see straight through it now.

That's kind of tied in with my point though?
As in, the T has been separated from LGB on here and elsewhere as in a "look, it's them, not us?"
They see themselves separate.
When it comes down to it, yes, a lot of people will be with you (general you) as they don't agree with the T
Doesn't make it right though. An attack on LGBT rights all seems to be an attack on women as well ( bodily autonomy, whether it be surrogacy laws being reduced, trans men (as in born female ) being portrayed as vulnerable little children even when they're grown adults.
I'm not surprised to see more threads questioning being lesbian or gay recently was my point

They are separate.

L, G and B = sexuality (who you are attracted to/want to have sex with)

T = gender (don’t get me started on defining that)

SlipperyLizard · 16/09/2023 00:42

Trans ideology is deeply homophobic. Replacing “same sex” with “same gender” leads to lesbians being told they must accept fully intact males (complete with “girl dick”) in their dating apps, and that gay men should be into “mangina” (or, even worse “bonus hole”).

Not to mention gender non-conforming gay and lesbian teens being led to believe they are “born in the wrong body”.

If you can’t see the homophobia in that OP then your are either blind or wilfully ignorant.

Ladybrrrd · 16/09/2023 00:42

I completely agree. Trans people (most often TW) are at best disrespected on here with pronouns and names and things, and at worst called, perverts and pedos. Any man caught wearing 'women's clothes' (whatever that means) is a disgusting AGP.You're not wrong but it's been like that for a while.

And the trouble is LGB people then DO end up getting it in the neck - masculine women being accused of being trans and shouted at in toilets, drag artists (a tradition in the gay community for a very long time) being called groomers.

I am agender and gender critical myself, and I regularly have respectful conversations about it with trans people. There's a way to talk so people will listen. Deliberately disregarding what someone chooses to call themselves is not the way to go.

BreadInCaptivity · 16/09/2023 00:43

The constant attempts to re-frame legitimate safeguarding concerns about the rights of children and women as "anti-trans" is, quite frankly, ridiculous.

Anyone who is dismissive of such concerns needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

I am beyond bored of the "most oppressed" and "most marginalised" narrative that many trans advocates are trying to sell.

It's a movement that seeks to elevate one cause beyond all others whilst caring not a damn for the carnage (of more vulnerable people) it leaves in its wake.

Ladybrrrd · 16/09/2023 00:44

I'll join you in that cuppa! 😅

The humans with penis dont need womens rights.

surrogacy is not a human right.
