To think the amazon delivery man was being unreasonable

I didn't want to answer the door for a delivery, I was cooking lunch. It was a multipack of toothpaste through amazon, less than £10, so not expensive. Rather than just leaving it at the front door, the delivery man went around the back where he could see me cooking 😐

What on earth is unreasonable about that? He wanted to make sure you actually received the delivery how bloody dare he. 🙄

Hermittrismegistus · 12/09/2023 16:02

It's his job to deliver the package to you and that's what he did his best to do.

Next time leave delivery instructions if you don't wish to answer the door.

Clefable · 12/09/2023 16:02

What? Where's the unreasonable part? Confused

Clefable · 12/09/2023 16:03

Did half the post get cut off?

Mumof2teens79 · 12/09/2023 16:04

He doesn’t know what's in it, or how important it is. Or why you aren't answering the door. He was doing his job responsibly.

Don't like it, don't order from amazon. Get your toothpaste from the supermarket.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 12/09/2023 16:05

The horror!

Why on earth should you have have to respond to a lowly delivery man, regardless of whether you’ve ordered an item specifically to come to your home and you’d be entitled to complain if it was taken from your doorstep?

He should have been trained to accurately guess whether a parcel is valuable, or worth less than £10.

Doesn’t he know you pay his wages?

I’d make a complaint and see if you can get him sacked.

AuntieSoap · 12/09/2023 16:05

And then what happened?

Discoconut · 12/09/2023 16:05

He wanted to fulfil his delivery. How was he meant to know you were purposely ignoring the door? Couldn't you specify an instruction on your order for them to leave parcel in safe space?
These delivery people get paid a pittance and I'm pretty sure they only get paid once items are delivered.

CafeAuLaitRoyale · 12/09/2023 16:05

Fetch the stones!

StrawberryWater · 12/09/2023 16:06

What a weird world you live in.

You ordered something with the expectation it would have to be delivered. It was. Answer the door next time, it only takes a few seconds. Your food will be fine.

Chowtime · 12/09/2023 16:06

Lol it's annoying but they only get paid if they deliver the package to you.

One Amazon woman actually walked into my house and left a parcel in the hall because i was upstairs having a lie down and couldnt be bothered to come downstairs. I could have fucking punched her but I guess some of the blame does have to lie with us. If we order something then we should take it when it comes.

What's annoying about them trying to do their job, jeez, delivery drivers cannot win sometimes!

Wendysfriend · 12/09/2023 16:11

Did you cook something nice ?

Thedogscollar · 12/09/2023 16:12

Are you being serious? You are whinging about something being delivered that you ordered. Couldn't be bothered to answer your front door as you were cooking. I'm sure it would have taken less than a minute to complete this mammoth task🙄 so what exactly is your point?

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 12/09/2023 16:12

My postman will do that for me sometimes if he sees my back door open. He knows me and my neighbours well and knows we can’t hear our front doors if we are in our gardens so shouts round and makes sure we don’t miss our parcels. I think it’s a kind considerate thing to do.

I think you’re being a bit of a dick tbh. It would have taken you less than a minute to answer your door and take the parcel that you ordered. You knew it was coming and if he had left it there and it was damaged or stolen you would have complained so he did the right thing.

PickledPurplePickle · 12/09/2023 16:16

It would have taken 10 seconds to answer the door - what is wrong with you?

Tohaveandtohold · 12/09/2023 16:20

You are being massively unreasonable. If you order something and you’re at home, why can’t you go and open the door and get your parcel. He came to give it to you so I can’t see what he has done wrong. He was only doing his job

SleepingStandingUp · 12/09/2023 16:21

I'm confused, are you saying he forced his way into your back garden, or just walked round the side and knocked a window where he could see you?

GrimGrinningGhosts · 12/09/2023 16:21

Unless you were par boiling live goats I don't see why seeing you cooking is an issue?

Gettingbysomehow · 12/09/2023 16:22

My Amazon driver just tosses my parcels in the rose bush even if I've left the front door open for him. I have scars on my arm from retrieving them Why can't he throw them in the lavendar?

PuttingDownRoots · 12/09/2023 16:22

They can't win.
Left on doorstep... bad.
Not leaving it... bad
Putting it in a safe space... bad.

Have it delivered to ka locker instead perhaps so you can deal with it at your leisure.

RandomButtons · 12/09/2023 16:23

Answer the door next time. Guy is just doing his job.

Sushione · 12/09/2023 16:23

Why are mumsnetters so weird when people knock on the door. Why wouldn't you answer it? Driver was just trying to do their job.

Starlightstarbright2 · 12/09/2023 16:23

They are on shit money per delivery . You should have just answered the door .

BoohooWoohoo · 12/09/2023 16:24

I don't understand the link between cooking and answering the door. I would have dashed to the door (because my kitchen and front door isn't far) but as an alternative I would have turned the job off.
