To think the amazon delivery man was being unreasonable

sparkleshin · 12/09/2023 16:00

I didn't want to answer the door for a delivery, I was cooking lunch. It was a multipack of toothpaste through amazon, less than £10, so not expensive. Rather than just leaving it at the front door, the delivery man went around the back where he could see me cooking 😐

Did you thank him @sparkleshin ?

Wexone · 12/09/2023 17:51

Sweet jesuus - if you dont want to answer your door don't order stuff online to be delivered. Who do the f do you think you are the queen of sheeba ??? 😝This has to be the most crazy thing i have read on this - what has human life become to ???

londonrach · 12/09/2023 17:57

Soooo....you answer the door like a normal person. Yabu.

Throwawayme · 12/09/2023 18:00

No he wasn't unreasonable. I'd give him a good rating for making sure I had the parcel. Not sure why making lunch meant you couldn't take 30 seconds to answer the door, especially if you knew a delivery was coming.

ghostyslovesheets · 12/09/2023 18:02

Where you following The Naked Chef cookbook a little too literally?

tescocreditcard · 12/09/2023 18:03

BitOutOfPractice · 12/09/2023 17:43

He saw you <stifles gasp and clutches pearls> cooking? Whatever is the world coming too when those pesky working class people do the job you paid them to do eh?

@Chowtime you sound a delight!

Thanks!

You don't. Your response to the OP was nasty and sarcastic.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/09/2023 18:05

As opposed to your "none of your business" 4 word reply upthread. OK!

TulipCat · 12/09/2023 18:06

I am amazed by two things about this post. Firstly, yes, another bonkers MNetter who doesn't answer the door despite being at home, but more staggering is the notion of an Amazon delivery driver who doesn't merely chuck your parcels over your wall and mark it as "handed to resident"!

Snazzysausage · 12/09/2023 18:07

Well the only problem here is if you were cooking with tits akimbo and even if you were it's still your fault for not leaving a note requesting the package be left at the front door as it was your day for preparing an "in the buff buffet" or whatever.😉

ilovesooty · 12/09/2023 18:09

Redskyatwhatever · 12/09/2023 16:28

“Where he could see you cooking”, OMG were you naked and dancing around your kitchen while suggestively sucking a wooden spoon? If so you probably made his day if not get a grip for goodness sake.

Perhaps sex lube and a fish slice were involved.

This is just weird. The guy was doing his job.

SauvignonBlanche · 12/09/2023 18:09

So you ordered something to be delivered to your home and someone attempted delivery - the nerve!!

jays · 12/09/2023 18:12

He didn’t know what the value of the parcel was. Further, it’s not worth his job to decide whether you’re ok with risking the parcel being stolen because it’s a ‘nothing’ item to you. You could have claimed the item wasn’t delivered and he could have been reprimanded or worse. He was doing his job properly.

Bigminnie1 · 12/09/2023 18:40

@Chowtime you basically said you were so pissed off with the delivery person for walking into your house that you could've punched them. If you don't want someone walking into your house, you lock your door.

TheFormidableMrsC · 12/09/2023 18:50

Coming back to this thread, maybe he was new, maybe he was on probation, maybe he had been admonished for leaving a parcel and it was stolen. I recently had a delivery of a prize I'd won, hundreds of pounds of stuff in a massive box that I returned to find draped with my front door mat. I'd much rather he'd walked round the back and left it there. Your delivery driver was just doing his job (and better than most IMO).

Itick8outof10boxes · 12/09/2023 19:49

sparkleshin · 12/09/2023 17:25

What are the 8 out of 10 boxes that you tick?

Norman Bates is my twin brother.....I'm fully diagnosed, but even I don't get het up about delivery men when I'm cooking nor do other posters on here, so....why have a pop at me?

PleaseGiveMeBackMySummer · 12/09/2023 19:50

😂 Just when I thought I'd seen it all on here! Thanks for the laugh @sparkleshin 😆

KVick · 12/09/2023 19:55

What was in the box isn't relevant, since the delivery guy doesn't know the contents of the box. It could have been something really important that you were waiting for.... and he wanted to ensure the box didn't get stolen from your front porch, which happens a lot in some areas.

LakeTiticaca · 12/09/2023 20:10

Christ on a 3 wheeler bike how do some people on here actually deal with everyday life 🙄

readbooksdrinktea · 12/09/2023 20:14

Were you cooking in the nude? What's the problem?

DoubleTequilaSunrise · 12/09/2023 20:16

I would find it annoying if a delivery person didn't just leave things at my front door, they all do, but I guess it must go with the area. Most of them don't even knock or ring the bell, I mainly know something has been delivered when I get the delivery email!

But they wouldn't be unreasonable to want to give the parcel to an actual person.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/09/2023 20:17

The problem is?

Maybe just buy toothpaste at the shop next time?

Cheeseandlobster · 12/09/2023 20:41

This. I am embarrassed for you

jlpth · 12/09/2023 20:45

He prob didn't know if it was just toothpaste, he prob has seen loads of theft. He sounds like he was trying to get your parcel to you without it getting lost/stolen. I don't really see the problem with him going round the back - if you don't want this, you need a locked gate to prevent anyone from doing it. Since it is presumably easily accessible, I don't think he did anything wrong. Plus, cooking or not, I think you should have answered the door, rather than inconvenienced a very busy delivery driver by wasting a bit of his time, thinking what to do/going round the back.

You'd be astonished how much theft goes on in the UK. Probably more than 99% of it completely ignored by police.

sparkleshin · 12/09/2023 20:48

why is everyone asking if i was naked

Because on the extremely minuscule chance this is real, there isn’t any other reason why anyone normal would find seeing you cooking stressful, unless you routinely cook in the nude.
