Reborn dolls in the pram bay

A couple of times now I've been unable to get on the bus with my baby in a pram because there are two local women who take their reborn dolls out in prams and take up the pram bays. I know they are reborn dolls as I've seen the dolls in their pram.

I understand people have reborn dolls for many different reasons but to take up a space meaning a real baby can't get on the bus surely isn't fair?

I've complained to the bus service and they've said they cannot monitor whether babies are real or not so if they get on the bus first I should ask them to put their pram down upon boarding.

I'm worried this will cause an altercation on the bus so I'm wondering AIBU to say something on the bus even though it may be embarrassing for the women?

I feel like getting one myself after reading that AMA. My own kids my friends kids and my relatives kids are all teenagers or young adults. It seems like years since I've cuddled a baby. I can't think how it can be the same though. Surely they are completely inanimate.

DD's was weighted and had some sort of built in artificial smell built into its skin, a powdery smell. Their skin is soft, too.

I'll be honest (and I never said so to dd) that I think they look like they're dead and have been laid out nicely, with their painted on complexions.

Yes I was thinking that. They wouldn't be holding your finger or doing anything real babies do, even when they are asleep. Just lying there.

Apparently you can get reborns that breathe, make sounds and have a heartbeat. I can't decide whether that's cool or creepy.

Hadn't heard of the heartbeat sort, but it's years since DD had hers and we visited a doll shop.

I can also see why people might find them comforting, in the way that they find other stuffed toys a comfort, and there has been a thread or two about those on here.

I suppose taking them out in the pram, or role playing, is more extreme, but that AMA was a good read for more understanding about that.
