To have told my friend exactly what I think of her?

Now ex-friend. In February I hurt my wrist and had to cancel meeting up with her because I couldn’t drive. Turns out that I broke it. She never once since that day reached out to me to ask how I am, spoke to me at all or asked to meet up.

Shes (from her Instagram) out with friends most weekends and yesterday after I saw she was going on a spa weekend I just snapped and told her what I thought and that I didn’t want to be friends anymore, she’s never checked in on me and that she’s selfish. She messaged me back saying it was odd I was still worked up over something that happened ages ago, that it’s attention seeking and she “won’t react to it” and then blocked me.

Depends what sort of friendship you had before.

VickyEadieofThigh · 26/08/2023 18:14

Friendship needs effort and compromise on both sides.

RoomOfRequirement · 26/08/2023 18:15

Are you 14? Unless there's a massive back story, this is a huge overreaction. Would it have been nice if she asked how you were later? Sure. Does not asking make her selfish, a bad friend, or worthy of being horrible to? 'What I think of her' is just immature trash behavior from people who love drama, and I'd have blocked you too.

neverbeenskiing · 26/08/2023 18:15

Did you message her, call her or suggest meeting up in that time though? If not then I don't think she's done anything wrong. Why is it her responsibility to initiate meeting up?

Tailfeather · 26/08/2023 18:17

Sounds like a total overreaction unless there is more to the story.

Daphnis156 · 26/08/2023 18:18

Very childish of you, now instead of cutting her off, she has dumped you.

No, because when I cancelled she didn’t acknowledge it, she just did and said nothing and I was in agony. She didn’t ask me to rearrange either.

Sounds like there is more background to this that we need to know.

CherryMaDeara · 26/08/2023 18:22

YABU. Is this a reverse?

I think your ex-friend sounds brilliant.

Maybe she thought you were just making it up to get out of seeing her.

Why didn’t you re-arrange when you were better?

caerdydd12 · 26/08/2023 18:24

You were the one who cancelled, surely you should be the one to get in touch to rearrange?
I expect from your actions you've probably got a flair for the dramatic.

Thewizardbinbag · 26/08/2023 18:24

Do you have a history of cancelling a lot or being a flaky/bad friend?

Her reaction when you cancelled suggests that it was the last straw for her so she ignored you.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 26/08/2023 18:25

Does a broken wrist render you incapable of making calls and texts? You sound like a drama queen. I hope my friends aren’t logging all of my efforts in some big spreadsheet.

FizzyFucker · 26/08/2023 18:25

You broke your wrist, it wasn't exactly the rapture.

SiobhanSharpe · 26/08/2023 18:26

You hadn't seen each other since February, the friendship sounds as if it was on its last legs anyway.
She's no loss, move on.

namechange1986 · 26/08/2023 18:27

You are a bampot

curaçao · 26/08/2023 18:29

She isn't your mum

Do grown women really behave like this?

Telling someone you don’t want to be friends any more went out when you left reception, surely?

How pathetic. I’ not in the habit of blocking people but I would certainly do if anyone was quite so childish as to behave like that. Really, she’s better off without you in her life, and if you really said that on her instagram post you’ve done a marvellous job of showing yourself up.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 26/08/2023 18:31

YABU.
From her point of view you've just gone from 0-100 and given out to her out of the blue. She is probably baffled and hurt at this random attack. She doesn't owe you any care.

pinkdelight · 26/08/2023 18:32

She went on spa weekend months later that was nothing to do with you, so you snapped and gave her a load of shit out of the blue?! Good on her for disengaging and leaving you to stew.

10HailMarys · 26/08/2023 18:32

I’m Team ExFriend. You sound insane.

Hawkins009 · 26/08/2023 18:33

Hope your wrist has recovered and feeling better @foreverreverof

Bellyblueboy · 26/08/2023 18:34

Oh god friendship shouldn’t be this hard!

I just pulled the plug on a friendship because it was like walking on eggshells.

life is too short for this nonsense.

Clefable · 26/08/2023 18:35

All sounds a bit playground, sorry, OP. I don't think as an adult I've ever told anyone I don't want to be friends with them any more, contact has just waned and we've grown apart, no need for shitograms or drama. I would be a bit taken aback to receive message like that months on after I had just had a nice weekend away!
