To ask when was the last time you laughed...

Usernamechanged2 · 17/08/2023 13:32

I actually can't remember I think it was a year or 2 ago.
The reason I ask is because I seen my friend & her partner, they have both had time off annual leave and my friend said they have had a laugh together this week.
It just got me thinking. I don't really laugh with my partner.

Belly laugh - yesterday with DH. Good giggle - today with the kids.

I laugh hysterically all the time at work, because I work with such a load of nutters, and our office banter is the best, my adult children have me in stitches too, and when I'm not moaning at my dh we also have a giggle, however I am very aware that sometimes life can be very cruel, and families have to deal with such awful losses and situations that there may seem to be no reason to find joy and laughter in life, and for that I send a massive hug to anyone struggling with life right now, and hope you find true reasons to smile and laugh again.

Ditto. My work colleagues are so funny and usually we are having the belly laughs most days.
They are the best.

idliketogetdownnow · 17/08/2023 19:58

Life is hard right now but I laugh every day.

My children and husband are always making me laugh, often unintentionally. I work with some very funny people too.

The only things that make me laugh properly on TV are Fawlty Towers and Only Fools & Horses. They don't make em like that any more!

yellowflowerss · 17/08/2023 21:05

Some of these replies are very sad 😢Yesterday during a conversation with my closest friend! Proper belly laughing when you can't breath. This happens often in my life with friends, family, colleagues or the person I am currently dating. Laughter is medicine to help you through even the darkest of times

Usernamechanged2 · 17/08/2023 21:27

Sometimes I cring if I see people laughing, other times I think what's the point, or maybe I am jealous of them laughing I don't know.

I probably have a shallow snigger a couple of times a week. A social “no you didn’t? hahaha!” a couple of times a month and a proper out of control full on belly laugh where tears come to my eyes once every couple of years. I wish it happened more regularly!

Ohyesreally · 17/08/2023 21:41

I laugh with my partner every single day. I also laugh both days a week that I head into the office. I'm (pretty) sharp and witty and love to have a good laugh, great fun.

CakAndMoreCake · 17/08/2023 21:45

Many times a day. We have ups and downs but we laugh and have silly conversations throughout the day, stupid stuff mainly. Not highbrow, half the time stuff like hiding them saying ‘boo’ or that level.
Do you like comedy shows, or anything like that you could share?

Clefable · 17/08/2023 21:49

I thought of this thread earlier when DH and I walked to pick the girls up from nursery. We laughed together at least three times on the 10-min walk there and then same on way back with the kids. That's entirely normal for us. I find it so alien that some people are going whole days let along weeks or months without laughing. It seems impossible to me, but maybe it is a personality thing too. Some people maybe just aren't laughers.

Clefable · 17/08/2023 21:55

@ManateeFair My stepdad and I had a proper laugh after the undertaker had left the house for the first meeting. He had mentioned a trolley to put the coffin on to transport it to grave site (it was a woodland burial so some uneven terrain and a bit of a distance on foot) and for some reason both of us independently just had this vision of it whizzing down the aisle at the service on wheels at top speed. We held it together at the time but when he left we both had a real laugh about it. You've got to find those lighter moments. Laughing is an emotional release like crying, I think.

fluffiphlox · 17/08/2023 22:43

We laugh all the time. We’ve been together for 40+ years one way or another. I’m very lucky on a number of fronts. We usually find something funny even in the darkest of days.

Monkeytrousers04 · 17/08/2023 23:02

A few months ago I was watching a stand up comic on TV and laughed out loud… DP came running downstairs to see if I was OK. I said I was fine and just laughing at the TV. He seemed confused… because I don’t really laugh with him - unless one of the kids does something amusing and we can’t help ourselves.

It might be worth to speak to someone professional. Especially since it does obviously bother you now

Cracklecrack · 18/08/2023 07:05

O my. Yesterday for me. Hope you get some giggle therapy soon x

Globules · 18/08/2023 07:10

Several times throughout the day when with one or both DC.

Deep belly laugh...a few times within the last month.

Used to belly laugh all the time with XP, to the extent it hurt at times. Current, about once every 2 months.

I can't imagine not laughing regularly. Go see someone OP if it's getting you down.

EverybodyLTB · 18/08/2023 07:11

I’m very much single and always laughing. If I was to get into a relationship, or even spend time with a man/casually date, I would Jack it in if there were no laughs. I get together with friends and we’re talking and laughing all the time we’re together. Even something sad or serious, we will try to lighten with a bit of dark humour or silly reference to something. I’m on holiday with my kids and we’ve laughed loads at what each other says, what we’re seeing and doing. Maybe I laugh easily, I’m not necessarily one of these overly cheery people, but something is always making me laugh. I was laughing listening to a podcast last night, parenting hell.

Enko · 18/08/2023 07:13

Last night having dinner with 2 of our daughters. They were being silly about the dog and other things. It was nice 😀. Dh has been very depressed this year after loosing his job so moments like that matter.

5128gap · 18/08/2023 07:26

Several times a day. I have some very funny people in my life, family, friends and colleagues. But a lot comes down to my own personality. I love to laugh and can see humour in most things.

I think because we say 'made me laugh' it can be something we see that a person or situation does to/for us, when in truth seeing and creating humour is something we need to actively participate in.
If you don't laugh at all with anyone, I'd say that's more about your personality and mind set than any particular relationship. Because even if the dynamic with your DH is humourless, it shouldn't stop you seeing the funny side of everything.

SillySausage21 · 18/08/2023 07:28

You cringe at people laughing? Being miserable about your own life isn't an excuse to take the piss out of other people's happiness.. find your own or find a new DH. You sound so miserable and very jealous.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 18/08/2023 07:39

Can't remember the last time I had a proper laughing fit - nothing on tv does it. I'm not depressed. I think I only find accidental things funny, I find stand up comedians too try hard. There is a YouTube video of a woman losing her wig on a slingshot ride, that did raise a chuckle tho!

PeachF · 18/08/2023 07:41

Last night - we're on holiday and I stole DHs pjs because they're comfier so he decided to put mine on in return. Tiny little pink shorts and a vest top. Gave me a good giggle 🤭

Okay that's strange. Sounds like jealousy.
