To ask when was the last time you laughed...

Usernamechanged2 · 17/08/2023 13:32

I actually can't remember I think it was a year or 2 ago.
The reason I ask is because I seen my friend & her partner, they have both had time off annual leave and my friend said they have had a laugh together this week.
It just got me thinking. I don't really laugh with my partner.

Ah that’s sad OP 💐 I laugh every day.

StopStartStop · 17/08/2023 17:55

I laugh every day. Dad jokes and memes set me off. I laugh at thoughts in my head. I laugh at things I misread on mumsnet. I laugh with my daughter (who has been making me laugh since a few weeks after she was born). I used to laugh a lot with my mother. It's been a big part of my life! And that makes me laugh, too.

Sunshineaftertherain187 · 17/08/2023 13:36

I can't honestly remember, but it must be 3 years ago.
I cry most nights though.

Flowers

I'm so sorry.

He doesn't really say much tbf @Cakesandbabes I do catch him laughing at podcasts sometimes but there not what I watch.

I can relate @Isis1981uk

Well maybe it's not you really.
I could not livw with someone who I wouldn't laugh with

ALongHardWinter · 17/08/2023 18:05

I think I laugh most days. Today I laughed at something Ian Payne said on LBC radio this morning. Can't for the life of me remember what it was though!

thefirstmrsrochester · 17/08/2023 18:07

I have had a truly horrible year with my DS being diagnosed with cancer and my not so DH buggering off when DS treatment (successful thank god) ended, however as well as my lovely DS, I also have the most idiotic Labrador that there is he makes me howl with laughter every day. He fell over earlier trying to scratch his ear with his hind leg and the ‘wft’ look on his doofus face was priceless. The daft mutt has gotten me through some very dark days.

ILookAtTheFloor · 17/08/2023 18:08

I laughed so hard at the cooking eggs thread from last week- MN regularly makes me belly laugh! I am easily amused. I sometimes have a dig around in classics to find the funniest threads and I revisit them often!

DeedlessIndeed · 17/08/2023 18:13

@GalileoHumpkins - 100% - I listened with DP a couple of years ago when we had a lot of long drives between Scotland and the South West England.

I had to pull over into a services as I couldn't stop belly laughing to the point where I got stomach cramp/stitch and I became terrified I'd crash on the M6!

red78hot · 17/08/2023 18:15

Today, but not a really good can't breathe laugh, I haven't done that for a few years now, I smile but I'm all done in inside.

Iamonholiday · 17/08/2023 18:18

I guess DH and I don’t laugh a huge amount together but we do sometimes. I laugh most at work as my colleagues are very fun and we share the same stupid sense of humour but I do laugh at home and with friends too. Sometimes (often) I laugh so much my stomach muscles hurt. I am middle aged.

thefirstmrsrochester · 17/08/2023 18:20

@ILookAtTheFloor I’d love a link to that thread pretty please and thank you 😊

Kowaii · 17/08/2023 18:23

Pretty much anytime my husband opens his mouth. He’s hilarious and loves making me laugh. And I barely see him as he’s a chef and he still makes me laugh multiple times a day even through text.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/08/2023 18:24

Cowlover89 · 17/08/2023 13:52

I laughed this morning with my toddler. He's a funny onion.

Aww @Cowlover89 i love the term “funny onion”. We use it all the time in my family and it really reminds me of my lovely dad. I’ve never heard anyone else use it though so thank you for making me smile.

I laugh a lot with DP every day but proper belly laughs mostly with my friends.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 17/08/2023 18:28

I laughed this morning. Have had a dreadful 18 months in all honesty, culminating in the death of my beloved mother a few days ago, but between the copious amount of tears someone will say something about a wonderful or funny memory of her and it will make me smile or laugh, even though my heart is breaking

Moversnotshakers · 17/08/2023 18:28

Daily in the office. Proper belly laughs with tears ..A man i work with is a natural born comedian. He is naturally hilarious and so quick witted. Also daily at home with DH and he is also funny and we laugh together a lot....

StopStartStop · 17/08/2023 18:29

SisterhoodWhatever · 17/08/2023 18:37

Yesterday, because I made DH laugh. We were watching the women’s football and I said one of the commentators sounded a bit like sporty spice so when the Lioness scored the second time I shouted Zig a Zig Eye.

I then laughed at DS doing an impression of his Father dithering, it’s so spot on.

I am very sorry so many people on the thread haven’t laughed for so long. Without going in to details but there was a very dark and despondent time in my life a decade ago and I didn’t laugh at all for a couple of years.

lljkk · 17/08/2023 18:39

Plenty most days, but some specific moments...

Last night, watching True Grit, the moment when the pony man is offered $10 for a pony (from a teenager he just bought the ponies from for $29 each) ... and he quips with fear, "Are we negotiating again?!" because the teenager whooped his butt in the negotiations previously.

And night before, when the wrong-side-of-tracks runner in Fast Girls is trying chat up lines on the hot totty physiotherapist, and she realises how stupid she sounds and rolls her eyes at herself. It's a great moment of nonverbal comedy.

Disturbia81 · 17/08/2023 18:43

I laugh all day, even during the shit ones. I could be going through terminally ill family and I'll find things to laugh about. It makes life easier.

Belly hurting breathless laughing though.. Maybe 2 a year! They are a rare joy.

pimplebum · 17/08/2023 18:45

I'm not one for big belly laughs but I find a lot of things amusing

My partner finds me funny ! and we watch telly and find same sort of thing funny

Maybe life has got you down and you need a rethink and shake up perhaps ???

TheYadaYada · 17/08/2023 18:45

That’s really sad OP.

It’s made me think. I am not exactly happy-go-lucky, but I do laugh every day.

ParisDispatches · 17/08/2023 18:46

We laugh every day! My dh is funny & has me in stitches a lot. Proper tears in my eyes type laughing. It's a big element in our marriage. Always has been & we're together 20+ years

FrogTaped · 17/08/2023 18:52

My DH makes me laugh every day.

His humour is brilliant, he's very witty, daft stuff makes me laugh too. I laugh every day, and properly belly laugh once or twice a month.

If I really, really laugh though I get an asthma attack! But I'd say that's rare.

hylian · 17/08/2023 18:55

I am really sad for everyone on here saying they haven't laughed for years.

I laughed my absolute guts out the other day at my friend being silly, and have been on a high from it since. It's making me smile now thinking about it. I think it's really important.
