To ask when was the last time you laughed...

Usernamechanged2 · 17/08/2023 13:32

I actually can't remember I think it was a year or 2 ago.
The reason I ask is because I seen my friend & her partner, they have both had time off annual leave and my friend said they have had a laugh together this week.
It just got me thinking. I don't really laugh with my partner.

That's sad. I've laughed this morning and regularly with DH and DC.

BlueChampagne · 17/08/2023 13:34

When listening to "I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue" with DH.

Comtesse · 17/08/2023 13:35

I laughed my head off yesterday when I was trying to do surfing yesterday on holiday

Autumnismyfavouritetime · 17/08/2023 13:35

A light hearted giggle at a funny tv show or something like that I’d say regularly but that proper deep belly laugh when you can’t catch your breath sadly not for a good 10+ years 🙁

Sunshineaftertherain187 · 17/08/2023 13:36

I can't honestly remember, but it must be 3 years ago.
I cry most nights though.

anotheranotheranotheranother · 17/08/2023 13:36

are you asking specifically about when people laughed with their partners?

With mine I don't remember but I almost peed myself laughing 2 nights ago with 2 of my DC - DH wasn't there otherwise obviously I would have laughed with him too.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 17/08/2023 13:37

With DH? Yesterday, but that's only because I've not seen him today.

In general? About five minutes ago.

DeedlessIndeed · 17/08/2023 13:38

OP, that sounds so tough.

There is one thing having a rough time, life isn't always going to be nice and happy.

But not to laugh for 2 years? I laugh almost everyday with my DP and I think I'd struggle without that outlet or stress relief.

What is the wider situation? There must be more to it

LubaLuca · 17/08/2023 13:38

I laughed very loudly watching 'Impractical Jokers' yesterday. I laugh easily.

Dogsaresooomucheasier · 17/08/2023 13:39

This morning but I am easily amused I think. Are things tough with your DH at the moment? We’ve definitely gone through phases of not laughing together for a week or two at a time when annoyed in general.

Robinhood47 · 17/08/2023 13:39

When i go into the office = belly laughs with colleagues all the time.
Home with kids and family fairly regular too.

Niftyswiftie · 17/08/2023 13:40

I cried with laughter (actual tears) getting a bit tipsy with my nanny a couple of weeks ago but I'm always laughing with DH. He's a naturally jokey, funny person so is always making me laugh.

There is nothing to laugh at when life keeps throwing heartache in your face.
I personally would feel guilty if I laughed after what happened in my life.

theemmadilemma · 17/08/2023 13:42

I tend to find humour in most things, but DH and I laugh pretty much daily, mostly more than once a day at something.

RitzyMcFitzy · 17/08/2023 13:42

I laugh quite easily. The last time I had one of those gasping for breath laughs was about a fortnight ago when I met up with an old friend and she reminded me of an ex of mine and all the plonkery things he did.

That kind of laughter feels like actual medicine.

Cakesandbabes · 17/08/2023 13:42

That is sad.
We laugh daily and about weekly to a point of nearly peeing ourselves.

IncompleteSenten · 17/08/2023 13:43

That sounds difficult OP.

Cakesandbabes · 17/08/2023 13:44

Is there something going in with you?
My and DH's family have ridiculous senaw of humour. Foe example we ended up having right laugh even after my father's funeral. Laugh heals

saltinesandcoffeecups · 17/08/2023 13:44

I have a rule that if I don’t laugh at least once every day while at work then it’s time to pack it in. Can honestly say I haven’t made it a full day without at least a chuckle. By no means is my job a walk in the park and some days it’s downright brutal, but if I can’t manage even gallows humor it’s just not worth it.

As for home DH and I are always doing something stupid so plenty of opportunity there (as well with 4 lunatic cats)

RabbitsRock · 17/08/2023 13:44

So sorry OP. DH makes me laugh even in our darkest times - I’m very lucky. I hope you find some laughter in your life.

Ironic username for that post.

KinooOrKinog · 17/08/2023 13:45

If you mean a proper laugh that lasts a few minutes, and not just finding something midly amusing for a few seconds, or blowing air out of my nose at a funny meme or something, then it's easily been a decade for me. So you're not alone.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 17/08/2023 13:46

About 30 seconds ago when listening to our favourite radio comedy with my dc! We laugh a lot in our house (with dh too)! Sorry to hear you're lackimg laughter in your relationship, OP.

Ironic username for that post.

That's what I'm hoping my therapy will lead me to.
I try to be positive, but there are days when I miss my son so much it physically hurts, and some days are stronger than others.
Maybe one day I will learn to laugh again.
