How much domino's pizza can you eat?

TulipVictory · 15/08/2023 15:48

We are just about to do an order and it's dawned on me it's costing nearly £50.00 😨

Me and my Husband can pretty much eat a large pizza each. We have three children so we are ordering three large and one medium, totalling a whopping £48.98. Surely this is ridiculous for four pizzas. ?! This includes the 50% off too 🙈

The most I'd eat is half a large Dominos.

I have the rest the next day, for breakfast and lunch.

It’s not “food issues”to say a large dominos pizza is massive amount of food.

Exactly - I mean, a large pepperoni pizza is 2500 calories. That's a lot for just one meal. Nothing wrong with that as a one-off, though.

All the "I just sniff a massive salad" jokes might have been funny the first few times, but now they're just painfully dull and predictable.

It’s a large amount of food, but telling someone that they are greedy, should eat less, blathering on about calories when nobody asked is absolutely projection of personal issues with food.

Madickenxx · 15/08/2023 16:31

I could and am sure I have done in the past. These days I order an Italian crust medium and tell myself I'll save a few slices for the next day but somehow they're always gone.

They are ridiculously overpriced even with a deal but a few times per year when watching a big game is well worth both the cost and the feeling of yuk afterwords.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 15/08/2023 16:31

I don't know as I haven't had a Domino's for years.

But if we get pizza and sides from our local place it'll be around £50 for five of us. It's less than we'd pay in a restaurant. And if I want to spend my money on a takeaway I bloody well will!

FrenchandSaunders · 15/08/2023 16:32

It is expensive but so are most takeaways now. I ordered fish and chips for three people a while ago …. £53 😳😳

Dominoes say it's for 4.... like Twix say it's for two people... Or a bar of Cadbury chocolate contains 5 servings of 4 squares each .. or a bottle of Fanta is for 2 people etc.
they fudge the servings qty to make it look less bad for you.

It's at least meant for 2

both domino's and pizza hut have gone seriously downhill and overpriced. so many great pizza places out there these days - often cheaper I find and better quality.

Totally agree. We have only had dominos pizza 3 times in about 7 years. And then we had the little £2.99 ones... They were about the size of a small side plate, and you could get 2 toppings on it. (Only available from 3pm til 6pm Monday to Thursday though I think...) Not sure if they still do it. We get pizza from Iceland or Morrisons - less than £3 each, and just as nice - and they are twice the size. The takeaway ones are crazy prices!

God the 'huge salad', 'sniff the pizza box', 'One small pizza would last me a week' jokes are so bloody boring and repetitive 🙄🙄

I think MNHQ should update the OP with

"These 'jokes' have been done to death and are about as boring and predictable as 'Did you mean to be so rude?' " 😂

I'd much rather go to the pub with someone who makes a fair point with a running joke than the fun police.

@Allmarbleslost see you at 7-ish? 🍷🍷

mumofteenss · 15/08/2023 16:32

We used to get 4 large as 4 adult sized people, we would eat half that night and have the other half the next night.

However, it so bloody expensive is a rarity nowadays.

And we prefer pizza hut deep pan which is even more expensive

Eat less is a good response when someone moans about the cost of a takeaway pizza. Its not designed to be eaten in huge quanities

Just get 2 then? Half the price!

Middleagedmeangirls · 15/08/2023 16:34

I don't much like Dominos but LOVE Pizza Express. If I bulk it out with salad I can make a Romana last for 3 meals. Obviously I also add wine because I'm an epicure that way.

I'm currently in recovery from bowel surgery and on the world's dullest, blandest diet. I cannot wait until things are back to normal and I can enjoy a Pollo ad Astra again.

Laiste · 15/08/2023 16:34

Thing is though, if you're having your domino's as a sat night blow out meal and eating minimally during that day and healthily the rest of the week, the 2k calories isn't worth a thought.

If you're having it a couple of times a week and/or having it on top of a normal day's calories then yeah it's a lot. But i don't assume folks are doing that so wouldn't think to post about the calorie content.

Skyrim41 · 15/08/2023 16:34

Papa John's has large for £8.99

ssd · 15/08/2023 16:34

Oh christ i really want a meat feast with bbq base and chive dip

Your fault op

panko · 15/08/2023 16:35

I usually eat a small by myself, no sides, no dip. I tried to have a personal sized one but no. I get the small which is meant for 2 I think.

The deals dont usually work like that i dont think? TBH ive not even looked in about a year

Niftyswiftie · 15/08/2023 16:36

I genuinely can't eat more than half a 9 inch in one sitting but never dare post on these threads for fear of being accused of being a competitive undereater. People do exist with small appetites in real life and yet on here are made fun of. Luckily in real life this never happens.

I disagree. The use of the word greedy is always unacceptable but the calories are just facts.

Many people could eat a large pizza but wouldn't. Their views are valid.

What’s it ‘designed for’, if not to be eaten? Are you suggesting that Domino’s ‘design’ their large pizzas to be shared so they can…sell less food…? I don’t follow your logic there buddy, sorry.

19lottie82 · 15/08/2023 16:36

A take away for under a tenner a head isn’t extortionate

Popworld · 15/08/2023 16:36

Large pizza wedges and a dessert easily

Curseofthenation · 15/08/2023 16:38

A large pizza for one person is a lot and it's a woman's entire calories for a day. It's been over a decade since I had a takeaway (we just prefer curry or Chinese for a special occasion), but I would probably eat half of a large Domino's pizza if I ordered from them today. Why don't you knock up some oven chips as a side and order one less large pizza if you think you'll still be hungry?

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 15/08/2023 16:38

I really miss the Double Decadence base. It was filth.
