Is there a second thread? Can't find one anywhere. I am also overly invested and need to know the outcome and marvel at the detective work of MN's.

And now the photo has changed

It is hilarious that Dave / Clive / Olive is taking all his marketing advice from MN.
Surely the obvious thing now, is to pitch in with some really dodgy advice Grin

OMFG.

It HAS to be a MNETTER on a wind up. Surely?!

Found the go fund me - don’t think MN will let ne post the link though.
they’re after 15k! Only got £128 so far for some reason…

This is what it says which makes sense - just blame everyone else:

Bring Louisa back home

We have been left stranded by the British government in Grenada a sovereign country

Even now 2 weeks later after providing a DNA test we are still not given any travel documents for our baby

Louisa has never met her 8 year old sister in the UK and the passport office in the UK Refuse to give our elizabeth 8 year old her renewal passport

We are asking for help to pay for legal funding accomodation and food

Our FAMILY is Broken

My Daughter Elizabeth is 8 years old, all she wants is her Mum back home and to be able to hold her baby sister for the first time

What are we supposed to do when your own country abandons you

We are not looking for sympathy only some support from loving people please

Mum is in tears everyday hair falling out and struggles to sleep at night which is traumatic when breastfeeding as we want the very best for our new baby Louisa whom is only 3 months young
A baby is innocent and we are being victimized for wanting a freebirth

I don't wish this feeling on any Mum

We have jumped through all their hoop's but to no avail it's heart wrenching to think this could happen to anyone of us

We have been treated like criminals the immigration and UK high commission
Have abandoned us it's our worst nightmare

Someone has to help surely

We have jumped through all their hoop's

How can a country abandon it's Sovereign people

How can people do this to people their own and a Mum I can't come to begin to understand

Is there any hope for any one of us friends or family could be in the same situation especially being told that a baby is entitled to a passport with right of soil Latin ( jus soli) guess the government's dont think they should follow laws anymore

We was told before we left the UK of our natural rights we researched and did our own due diligence but have been let down by the system

We pray that we will receive justice and remedy before it goes on any further

Please help anyway possible and thank you with love to all the people that care

Oh to be able to use a red pen. The most glaring mistakes...

You could do with using some punctuation Clive:

Full stops
Question marks
Apostrophes you don't need
Capital letters you do need
Capital letters you don't need
Not forgetting some commas

Some spelling and grammar wouldn't go amiss either:
'We was' really??
anyway and anyone should be two words

Dave! Ignore the GoFundMe! Sail back to the UK on your tiny yacht. The British government won’t be able to refuse a passport if you arrive in Portsmouth. Aim for the naval base, that’ll show them you mean business 🤣

There’s probably a compass app on your iPhone, that should be sufficient “due diligence” so no need to prepare any more than that.

Yep sadly I suspect it is fake. I still want to know why Clive was banned from fell running!

There's a contact Clive button in the Go Fund Me...

Just catching up...

The blurb seems to be written by a barely literate person who thinks they are extremely clever.

Which is likely why they're in this mess in the first place. Is Iullia as stupid as Clive, does she think he really IS clever?

Oh dear.

Or by a Mumsnetter who knows how to push our grammar buttons.
I really want it to be him but am nowhere near convinced.

Alevelwoe · 19/08/2023 16:00

Surely there's a reddit or some corner of the interweb where these freemen gather to complain about having to abide by various laws. Maybe he could try there for some support?

meditrina · 19/08/2023 16:14

I was googling a few days ago (during part 1 of the thread) and discovered that St Lucia has jus solis.

So if they could prove to the St Lucian authorities that Louisa had been born there, she could have had a birth certificate and idc a passport. But because 3 days had passed before they presented themselves to the authorities, they were required to supply proof, which appears not to have been forthcoming (if they said she's been caught short on a boat, and they'd come straight in for a mother-and-baby check, then it might have been different (as the timings would support only just off-shore, but a 3 day gap does not)

So they sailed on to Grenada, where they are being assisted by the British High Commission in establishing entitlement to British citizenship by descent when there is no birth certificate.

It seems (from the GoFundMe wording) that the test was taken only 2 weeks ago (though they must have been there for considerably longer - has anyone got the details of that bit of the timeline at their fingertips?) and there's no explanation for that delay (and the obvious explanation would be parental tardiness rather than bureaucratic obstacle).

I can't think why the older DC would have had a passport renewal refused before they left the UK. Unless they had one of those awful "oops" moments when you don't realise until it's too late that a passport has expired, and they couldn't get it done in time. There are limited fast track options for child renewals - takes a week and requires an appointment - and I guess it's possible that the "refusal" refers to the inability to get a faster turnaround than that (just my speculation)

I want to know this, too.....

I'm not a fell runner, but run in a lot of other races (including trail events).

The sorts of things that lead to bans are:

  • running with a fake bib aka "banditing" - running an event without paying the entance fee.
  • using someone else's bib (also a form of banditing, but I think unlikely as he must have been pretty well known in the fell running community)
  • applying for a good for age place using someone else's time (unlikely, he was pretty good)
  • not actually running the race. This happens quite a lot - people get lost, take wrong turns, might not even realise until later. But they should realise later (their Garmin data doesn't match the distance they should have covered). But occasionally it's done deliberately (to go round notorious technical sections). And there are even notorious cases in long-distance events of people getting a lift! All forms are considered cheating. If you made a mistake and fess up, your results are scrubbed for that event, but chances are there will be no further action (could happen to anyone). But if deliberate cheating is suspected, then yes there could be a ban.

Some clickbait type account has now popped up on my FB telling the story of Clive and Iulia, using stock photos. Skimming the comments they are all of the opinion that the parents are irresponsible and have only themselves to blame.

If you’re reading Clive/Dave, hoop’s is wrong. Experts say hoops’…

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 20/08/2023 08:00

Can someone please ask Clive to explain the significance of "Grenada a sovereign country"? Do you think he thinks that because Grenada and the UK are sovereign states they are one? ie that they are the same country?

MaggieFS · 20/08/2023 08:15

Perhaps he thinks it means it can go FreeThinking and just dish out birth certificates or even passports for Brits?

Bruisername · 20/08/2023 08:19

if they travelled from one sovereign state (st Lucia) to another (Grenada) with an undocumented child - is that legal?

Freeman of the Land are very closely related to the Sovereign Citizen movement. There is a certain amount of overlap.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_citizen_movement
Sovereign citizens claim to be answerable only to their particular interpretations of the common law and believe that they are therefore not subject to any government statutes or proceedings, unless they consent to them

And

The movement may appeal to people facing financial or legal difficulties, or wishing to resist perceived government oppression, and looking for a mechanism that will solve their problems. As a result, it has grown significantly during times of economic or social crisis. Most schemes promoted by sovereign citizens involve means to avoid taxes, ignore laws, eliminate debts, or extract money from the government.

Basically someone who reads too much shite on social media and then regurgitates it uncritically because they lack the willingness to unpack the crap because it fits with their world view.

Someone who doesn't take responsibility for their fecklessness would be a good candidate.

As a Freeman type, Clive must be so pissed off that so much info about him was freely available online (as evidenced by Mumsnet detectives on the last thread!)

Has there been any update to the go fund me?

WhatapityWapiti · 26/08/2023 08:13

“Whom is only 3 months young”

ha ha ha.

I’m also thinking that if a person doesn’t have the brain power to understand the very simple rules around how apostrophes work, getting their head around citizenship of a child born at sea is going to be impossible…

Toothpastestain · 26/08/2023 08:20

The Go Fund Me is still £128.
