Is there a second thread? Can't find one anywhere. I am also overly invested and need to know the outcome and marvel at the detective work of MN's.

I'm not in the habit of donating my money to people who rent private yachts.

Fucking idiots.

gogomoto · 17/08/2023 07:52

My dd was born abroad in a hospital with an American birth certificate and still it took me months to get her consulate birth certificate and passport, and this was years ago before they made it even slower! Anyone who adopts abroad will also tell you it takes ages to get a foreign issued British passport with the correct passport, usually you just get a permission to travel document.

gogomoto · 17/08/2023 07:53

These 2 are with elaborate trolls/chancers trying to make money or very naive

TakenRoot · 17/08/2023 08:06

His GoFundMe is still at £110 . Oh dear!

None of it makes sense. Either something very dodgy is going on or they didn’t actually think about the need for the baby to have a passport before being brought into the UK.

I once sat opposite a couple and their tiny baby on Eurostar. When staff came round checking and asked for the baby’s passport they didn’t have one. Said they didn’t realise they needed one because they would apply when they got home.

The staff were very polite and calm but border officials escorted them off the train when we arrived and took them away.

If he is a Freeman is it possible he doesn't believe that children need a passport or objects to them or something daft like that. It's just that all this business with not renewing the elder daughters passport first because "they forgot" and then because "the UK authorities refused to renew it" makes me think that maybe Iuliia wanted to but Clive started making up shit about why it wasn't possible. Like others say there's bits of this story that just don't add up.

I can believe they are inept but only to a point. And this constant conspiracy theory bollocks or refusal to take responsibility for their own shit does make me wonder.

Given that Freeman believe things are only legal if you give consent and children cannot consent I'm wondering if this is part of the mentality and they thought they could blag it.

This jus soli business and one way tickets also is fascinating coupled with a claim that the government refused to renew their daughter's passport. You can come up with any number of trashy novel worthy explainations for that one. MN could have some fun with that. I'm thinking comedy incompetent bond villain style.

Due diligence and one way flight tickets are not things that stand up together - you can buy open ended return flights which you can change the dates on. They didn't. If you were being duely diligent that's what you'd do. Or you'd realise that there wasn't a cat in hell's chance of you making the return flight date you'd planned if there were delays to your paperwork which are common enough for you at least to have a large contingency fund for. They didn't.

Why do they need 15k anyway. Clive's maxed credit card is 6k. Why do they need another 9k? Even accounting for return flights and more accommodation and living costs, you still have the be living the high life for a long time to be hitting that 9k.

Also, did you know that egosurfing is a sign of being a massive narcissist prick?

This is what I don't get.

Just where does anyone read on the internet that that this is a quick process?
No where at all.

= Due Diligence

Of my family who have kids born outside the UK, it's taken endless hoop jumping and documenting.

They haven't got a passport for their eldest child. They haven't managed that whilst actually based in the UK.

= 🤔

These people can not possibly have done "Due Diligence " . That's literally a joke.

It smacks of half baked, tin hat, freetwatery , "do your own research " , conspiracy theory, jus soli, jus sans blah blah, internet diving.

And then just to make it even more difficult- they rock up too late to the hospital just to get the basic^ birth certificate! ^

Due Dilligence my A*.

ButtonSister · 17/08/2023 09:17

Is Clive the 8 year olds dad? If not, perhaps her actual father has objected to her going abroad/has her passport/whatever and that's why she cannot currently travel?
Or is she subject to care proceedings that means she cannot be taken abroad by a parent?

sunglassesonthetable · 17/08/2023 09:26

Clive champ, if you're reading this, you didn't do " due diligence ".

You wouldn't be in this situation if you had.

I'd take it out of the GFM because it makes you look daft.

eish · 17/08/2023 09:30

I think the last thread debunked the idea that the older daughter was a step child of Clive’s.

I gave birth abroad (because I lived there and had medical insurance) and whilst visiting the UK on may leave applied for a British passport for DC here. Quite straight forward, a little time consuming.

more recently (and now back living in uk) we have applied for new passports for both children. Amazingly the government didn’t refuse my application and returned them back efficiently and quickly. There is a reason they didn’t get one for their daughter, one dearest Clive is keeping to himself.

Well if they rock up at the hospital saying they wanted to freebirth in the UK it'd possibly set social services off. It was explicitly voiced to me that it would raise concerns as I had an unusual case history.

A red flag over 'wacky behaviour' of the Freeman father might well also do the same.

eish · 17/08/2023 09:32

I think Clive’s idea of due diligence is booking a one way plane ticket, applying for a credit card and asking auntie to care for older child.

it’s the sense of entitlement that they can bend the rules but are still entitled to so much.

on another note, had they made it to the beach and had things started to go wrong and they had decided to go to a hospital, would they have been given free medical care and if not had they insured against this?

sunglassesonthetable · 17/08/2023 09:34

why oh why didn't they just fly somewhere, sit tight , give birth in the waves when the 🐬 called, follow the legal process, fly home.

You can buy open ended, changeable air tickets.

Could have emailed the High Commission of whichever country and asked about legal timescales ?

why oh why Clive? And Iuliia ?

RedToothBrush · 17/08/2023 09:38

Agree. Either he doesn't want her to have one because:

A) Of his beliefs (and he may be concealing this from Iuliia by hiding the truth that he can get a passport for the elder one but doesn't want to)
B) He is trying to control Iullia and prevent her from leaving the country with his daughter without him. (He REALLY doesn't want to leave Iullia by herself and go look after his elder distraught daughter does he? Hmm)
C) They are prevented from getting her one for child protection reasons.

He is a man with a complex about authority being 'out to get him'.

There are a lot of bright red flags about his behaviour here.

MaggieFS · 17/08/2023 11:10

Phew. I've finally caught up. Great detective work. What a pair of numpties. And I wouldn't care if that's where it ended but blaming others and expecting others to sort out their mess is not on.

I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute apart from the fact I've been to Rodney Bay, and nice as it was, it certainly isn't the Caribbean idyll one would have in mind for sharing on Instagram. There is a fun looking inflatables area though with lots of slides!

WorriedMumofTeen16 · 17/08/2023 11:20

Another rewrite and this line is now included:

We are asking for help to pay for legal funding accomodation and food

MustardChair · 17/08/2023 11:21

Clive, get off MN and go and call the High Commission about those DNA tests.

MustardChair · 17/08/2023 11:33

and honestly.... the process is clearly step by step. Do one step (DNA) then do the next step. Take guidance from the HC. They at least know what is required.

I do hope that you and the family get home safely. But honestly- stop making it so difficult for yourself. As my former boss used to say 'Go and do the necessary'.

The baby doesn't need food and it is the only of the three I have sympathy for, so I think I'll pass!

Just goes to show they're following this thread. Have to be. The magical friend who says the daughter they abandoned is happy (when they state otherwise on GoFundMe, maybe this will be the next update) maybe gave them a heads up to come nosey. I feel like tagging her in this thread to gather her thoughts on how things have magically changed 🙄

BloodyPrime · 17/08/2023 13:36

Its a good question about the flights. If they just bought one way tickets, then they presumably budgeted for return flights to potentially be expensive since they'd have to buy them for them plus newborn, and with little notice? So why are they complaining about the cost of the flight back? Due diligence presumably included making sure they could afford to get back home once the baby was born...?

sunglassesonthetable · 17/08/2023 13:45

Well the Fell Runner community aren't putting their hands in their pockets.

Interested to see he's put " it could happen to any one ...."

Really, really don't think so.

Alevelwoe · 17/08/2023 14:06

What do they need "legal funding" for? They've been told the steps that they need to take. They don't need a lawyer; they simply need to bide by the relevant laws.

Whilst heavily pregnant past the time limit to fly.

Yep could happen to anyone. Freebirth is all the rage amongst er .... Hmmm... Noone.

PriamFarrl · 17/08/2023 15:13

Could happen to anyone in this exact same circumstances.

It’s not like say, becoming homeless, which could happen to anyone with a run of bad luck. This was because of deliberate choices they made.
