To ask would you buy a used bra?

I'm trying to be more environmentally conscious and buying clothes off of vinted and weird question I know but there's loads of brass on vinted and I was talking to DH about it and he thinks it's a bit weird but at the same time .. they're just boobs?

Like I've bought some dresses off there and who knows they could have worn them braless or whatever.

I just can't decide how weird it is, so would you buy second hand bras?

Obviously knickers are another matter, those are still being bought new! Grin

I absolutely wouldn't. I'm happy to buy jumpers, skirts etc from Vinted by definitely not bras.

TogetherInEclecticDreams · 05/08/2023 19:31

No.

EpidermalLayer · 05/08/2023 19:31

no

RaceToTheMiddle · 05/08/2023 19:31

No

FrivolousTreeDuck · 05/08/2023 19:31

Not by choice, although 99% of my clothes are secondhand. The band might have stretched and not be supportive enough for my huge, saggy boobs.

If I couldn't afford to buy new, I probably would.

Arrgghhdecisions · 05/08/2023 19:32

Nope
I can't even explain why. Just feels a bit too personal 🤣

Comedycook · 05/08/2023 19:32

No. Id rather buy myself a Primark bra for £5

Mammajay · 05/08/2023 19:32

Yes

INeedAnotherName · 05/08/2023 19:32

No. Bras and knickers (and probably swimwear) should be new. It seems wrong somehow.

Can I ask why?

If you buy used jumpers and t shirts etc how do you know the previous owner hasn't worn them braless? The same skin would be touching the item.

I am probably gonna buy bras new but it did get me thinking about why it's such a big deal really.

I would, it's literally just boob skin

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/08/2023 19:33

No I would avoid used bras. I'm not at all funny about pre loved stuff but underwear is a hard no. Also gym kit.

Cheeesus · 05/08/2023 19:33

Yes, if it was the exact same model that I know fits.

wutheringkites · 05/08/2023 19:33

Don't you need to try on a bra before buying to see if it fits?

It's literally the only item of clothing that I ALWAYS have to try on first.

whatchagonnado · 05/08/2023 19:34

No way. The elastic in mine go after 12-18 months and start riding up my back. I replace them often. A used bra is likely to be very substandard for support and shape

elderflowerandpomelo · 05/08/2023 19:34

Well I’d think twice but that’s becUse I use my own bras until they are in rags, and I wouldn’t wNt to buy anything similar!

Enoughnowbrandon · 05/08/2023 19:34

Yes, and I have done.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/08/2023 19:34

Only if it was nearly new and barely worn. I am not squeamish, I would just be worried the elastic had aged or been overstretched.

Babyenroute · 05/08/2023 19:34

Yes

MoreStormyWeather · 05/08/2023 19:35

No. I like to try them and be able to return them. They stretch over time so I like new.

CrushingOnRubies · 05/08/2023 19:36

Depends on how used

Clearly a favourite bra worn to death no

A bra which had been brought but still had labels on but because it's underwear couldn't be returned despite not being worn type thing- then yeah

tuvamoodyson · 05/08/2023 19:36

No.

HoneyIShrunkThePizza · 05/08/2023 19:36

I have no real objection to it but I'd probably make sure it was a brand I'd bought before so I knew exactly what size and fit was right for me. And go for BNWT/BNWOT/lightly worn.

Drews · 05/08/2023 19:36

I've bought a couple of second hand bras on eBay vinted for a few pounds. Supposedly BNWT and not used and they looked pretty new. No stretched elastic probably just tried on but not a good fit. I wouldn't by used.

ZombieNations · 05/08/2023 19:36

No, but I have sold some on there, they sold straight away too!
Only ones I’d bought and tried on but didn’t fit right, or worn once for a few hours with a particular outfit etc.
