To ask would you buy a used bra?

I'm trying to be more environmentally conscious and buying clothes off of vinted and weird question I know but there's loads of brass on vinted and I was talking to DH about it and he thinks it's a bit weird but at the same time .. they're just boobs?

Like I've bought some dresses off there and who knows they could have worn them braless or whatever.

I just can't decide how weird it is, so would you buy second hand bras?

Obviously knickers are another matter, those are still being bought new! Grin

No but only because I would worry it wouldn’t fit well. If I ever find my go-to bra and can trust the sizing then I would. I’m with the rest of you on not buying second hand knickers… although I have bought swimwear but it was sold as unworn. PJs I’m also fine with. Why would they be different to day time clothes?

Cas112 · 05/08/2023 21:00

No.. it's where I sweat the most. Presume others do also

Siameasy · 05/08/2023 21:01

Yes I bought one and I bought 2 bikinis as as well as another bikini in a charity shop for 50p

Tangled123 · 05/08/2023 21:03

No way. It wouldn’t be supportive enough for my stupidly sized boobs and I wouldn’t want to wear anything covered in someone else’s underboob/armpit sweat.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 05/08/2023 21:08

Yes and I have but only BNWT or " only tried on"
In the wash with laundry sanitizer and it's fine

Threenow · 05/08/2023 21:09

Yes, and I have done once or twice.

Toottooot · 05/08/2023 21:10

Nae chunce.

PamelaShipman80 · 05/08/2023 21:12

Yes because I’ve got massive boobs so they cost a fortune for a decent one

imnotthatkindofmum · 05/08/2023 21:13

All but 2 of my bras I bought second hand. I buy molke bras.

Jazzybean · 05/08/2023 21:15

Yes if in excellent, like new condition. I don’t want a bra that someone else has already stretched the elastic in.

Redpriestandmozart · 05/08/2023 21:20

For a specific discontinued style, providing the photos are close-up and it's in fab condition then yes. I can tell by looking at the close-up photos, some will show balling, and some you can see the stretch but I have bought two that were in perfect new condition without tags.

caringcarer · 05/08/2023 21:24

Only if I couldn't afford new. I let my sister borrow my maternity and feeding bras though. If she had her baby first I would have borrowed hers. Once you wash them I think it would be ok. I wouldn't do it for environmental reasons but if I was poor and couldn't afford new ones I would.

EmeraldDuck · 05/08/2023 21:25

whatchagonnado · 05/08/2023 19:34

No way. The elastic in mine go after 12-18 months and start riding up my back. I replace them often. A used bra is likely to be very substandard for support and shape

Yup, in fact I'm wearing a second hand bra now. I buy used pants occasionally too, though only lingerie.

It's not virtuous - the second hand market is fuelled by cheap overproduction and fast fashion- but it's cheap.

JaceLancs · 05/08/2023 21:29

Yes I would if in pristine condition and I also sell on ebay
I bought a new bra a few weeks ago - tried on n seemed comfortable so took the labels off
I had to take it off after 3-4 hours as the wires went up too high in the middle and were digging in - I still have slight marks now!!
It was £36 and I will stick it up for sale as it really has only been worn very briefly

Fuchsiaplant · 05/08/2023 21:41

I,ve just brought a pack of three bras in M and S sale for £13, so not expensive.

M and s bras don't fit everyone. They don't do my size 🤷🏻‍♀️ most bras my size cost between £50 and £60 each.

nimski · 05/08/2023 23:00

Yes. At a certain size they are bloody expensive. I know what brand and size fit so regularly buy bras off vinted, always been in excellent condition at a fraction of the price.

Poshjock · 05/08/2023 23:30

Probably 3/4 of my bra drawer is second hand. It's £35 and upward for new Panache/Freya bras and there is a very strong market in good quality, barely used seconds, especially in particular FB groups. I always look for good pictures and the label is a very good indicator of light use as many wears/washes fades and blurs out the small text on them. Never had any issues with fit or quality hence why I do it so extensively.

lap90 · 05/08/2023 23:34

No.
I just sold a new bra today on vinted for 3 quid (£16 at full price) so there are bargains to be had on new bras.

LeiaOrganaBananaHamock · 05/08/2023 23:38

I feel like bras mould to the wearer after a few wears - so no, just from a comfort perspective!

NoChanceYouMetalBastard · 05/08/2023 23:40

Yes, I have loads of second-hand bras. I fail to see how tit sweat is much different than armpit sweat once it's been through the machine.

NerdyIsMyMiddleName · 05/08/2023 23:43

I do, but I have to get a 38F and I like an expensive make which I can't currently afford new. I get ones that are in good condition though (and they're all washed!).

mondaytosunday · 06/08/2023 00:22

No. It's intimate wear - sweat from their armpits, stretched out a bit - yuck.

JMSA · 06/08/2023 00:38

I used to have the most wonderful bra from M&S some years ago. It made my boobs look amazing! They don't make it anymore.
If I happened to see it on Vinted, you can bet your bottom dollar I'd buy it!
