To ask would you buy a used bra?

I'm trying to be more environmentally conscious and buying clothes off of vinted and weird question I know but there's loads of brass on vinted and I was talking to DH about it and he thinks it's a bit weird but at the same time .. they're just boobs?

Like I've bought some dresses off there and who knows they could have worn them braless or whatever.

I just can't decide how weird it is, so would you buy second hand bras?

Obviously knickers are another matter, those are still being bought new! Grin

Yep, I would and do. I'm not short of cash exactly but I need mastectomy, post surgery bras and they are expensive and getting them off Vinted is great. I've never been disappointed. Wash it first, what's the issue?!

mariiiaa · 05/08/2023 19:58

No

Because bras stretch over time and won't be the same fit/size as they were.

Nothing to do with being used and grubby, just poor quality if worn a lot.

ASoapImpressionOfHisWifeWhichHeAte · 05/08/2023 19:59

Yes, I would if it was in decent condition. And I buy loads of things off Vinted/second hand. However my line is nightwear. I don't know why, but I hate the idea of second hand nightwear... gives me the ick. Knickers are also, obviously, off the table... but I assume that's true for everyone.

SadieOlsen · 05/08/2023 19:59

Yes, I've bought quite a few from Ebay - I'm very grateful that someone has worn one in for me first! I've also bought second hand shoes in great condition. The only thing I wouldn't buy second hand is any kind of sports shoes.

Sparagmos · 05/08/2023 20:00

I don't care, I've done it for at least 25 years. If something is well washed I just don't have a problem.

MiMiPies · 05/08/2023 20:01

I never thought about the quality of the bra, that's a really good point!

It's interesting really to see what people are willing to buy secondhand. I've become a bit obsessed with vinted though tbh I've bought all mine and DDs clothes for our holidays. It gets really addictive! Haha I don't think I'd buy PJS or swimwear (and knickers obviously) but I wouldn't mind shoes that are in good condition.

No, i would not.
Wires take wear and tear, can get bent out of shape, snap, poke out, bands stretch, the hook and eye can come out etc. I find bras don't really last me more than a year new (granted i'm buying primark and asda etc) before one of the above make it an "emergency" bra, or it needing throwing away entirely. I doubt a used bra would have much life in it. Unless its specially made for unusual sizes or with heavy duty shoulder straps wider than usual that are incredibly expensive to have special made, i'd just buy new.

DaisyAndDonaldDuck · 05/08/2023 20:04

Absolutely not. But then I wouldn’t buy or wear anything second hand anyway.

Wowzel · 05/08/2023 20:05

I would, as long as not worn much. I'm an unusual size and they are super expensive!

ZolaBudd · 05/08/2023 20:05

I had a breast reduction and so I have sold loads on Vinted. It’s quite a brisk market for them. Just wash them

ZolaBudd · 05/08/2023 20:05

Also bikinis. Just wash them you weirdos

Krickley · 05/08/2023 20:06

I have sold some new bras on there. I wouldnt sell ones ive worn but it is a shame as sometimes they are absolutely fine to pass on. I would only buy brand new with/without tags. I love vinted though. Ive bought and sold so much

ADHDDDDDDDBOOM · 05/08/2023 20:07

Yes.
BUT I have tiny boobs.
So I don't have the boob sweat.

If I had large breasts and endured the boob sweat like I did when I was a breast feeding, then no I would not.

Is it beneath you? 🙄

BoredAndNotDomesticated · 05/08/2023 20:08

I buy loads of second hand Ann Summers lingerie too and have never been disappointed. As long as it's washed before I wear it I don't have an issue with it.

I used to be like that but honestly the things I've got off vinted are practically brand new and I got them for like £8 when they are still selling for £45.

I always wonder why but I guess people buy them and then they either don't fit or they just can't be assed and sell them on!

It's brilliant for baby clothes.

NotGotAClue1 · 05/08/2023 20:08

I don’t like the thought of second hand clothes in general let alone bras. Just me personally though because I’m a germ freak!

FijiSea · 05/08/2023 20:08

Cheeesus · 05/08/2023 19:33

Yes, if it was the exact same model that I know fits.

This.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 05/08/2023 20:08

Absolutely 🤷‍♀️
It's just like buying a tshirt to me !

KimberleyClark · 05/08/2023 20:08

No because it would be most unlikely to fit!

DaisyAndDonaldDuck · 05/08/2023 20:09

ADHDDDDDDDBOOM · 05/08/2023 20:07

No Confused

I just like new clothes and fast fashion.

coreas · 05/08/2023 20:10

I don't buy second bad clothes, so no.

BungleandGeorge · 05/08/2023 20:13

Yes, literally no different to other clothing. My only reservation would be the quality of the elastic but I do t think it’s unusual to have nearly new or new ones for sale because they are sized so accurately that people change size

magicalkitty · 05/08/2023 20:14

No, only if it had tags on.

stayathomer · 05/08/2023 20:15

Arrgghhdecisions
Nope
I can't even explain why. Just feels a bit too personal 🤣

Exact same here, couldn’t argue it, but just couldn’t!!
