Lighthearted but obviously the US congress are preparing to reveal the existence of Aliens.
What would be the first thing you would do?

Get the good biscuits in?

switch the telly on, look out of the window to see if they’ve come me for me.

Think it was conspiracy theorists and ignore it.

If I was due an alien visit I'd hope they'd rate me as Outstanding

Why would there be an announcement? If another form of life is advanced enough to travel the vast distances involved, they would be able to do whatever it is they have planned without any input from us.
It's like a human watching an ants nest, they can either do it unobtrusively and observe & measure all activity without the ants' knowledge, or they could kick it open and watch the pandemonium. Either way, the ants have no say in the matter.

My first plan would be "nothing", since - if the events that triggered all of this discussion are genuine - it's already happened a number of times, so it'll just be another Tuesday.
