What would your first plan be if its announced we are due an imminent Alien Visitation?

Lighthearted but obviously the US congress are preparing to reveal the existence of Aliens.
What would be the first thing you would do?

You don't think aliens exist anywhere in the vast universe?
Why would our planet be the only one inhabited?

Why would they hit pyramids.
They built them if they are not some new aliens

I arrived ages ago, seems I've assimilated well

I hope they are nicer than humans and if they decide to take over the planet that they do a better job of taking care of it than humans have.

I would check the calendar to make sure it wasn’t an April Fools prank.

I would want to see them for myself and check they didn’t have zips and weren’t some kind of Mr. Blobby prank.

If they were real I would try and befriend them in the hope that they would choose someone else to experiment on!

Ask them why? There’s a lot younger, pristine exoplanets out there to take over inhabited by a few single cell organisms at best, that it’d be easier and less messy to invade to acquire resources or to colonise

or if they’d just come for a few days visits to “earthzoo” point out we’ve got a lot of trigger happy governments that might take pot shots at them, so probably best to send unarmed craft and make their equivalent of David Attenborough documentaries- or actually they could just tune into bbc iPlayer from over there and watch.

really it comes down to motive in all seriousness. Why would aliens be visiting given the enormous resources it would take and that their technology would have to be so advanced to cope with time/ distance of 5 light years absolute minimum , that they’ve probably got stuff on earth they’d be monitoring back home in a lot of detail

as I’ve said, as a planet we’re not a good prospect for hostile bids. Sun half way through lifecycle, so on the downward side of “Gianting” and annihilation of earth, and a well evolved earth with depleted resources and a salient life form quickly making it near uninhabitable
