I know it’s a bit silly and we should all do what we are comfortable with of course…

But are you dressing up for it if you’re seeing it?

I didn’t know anything about dressing up as Barbie for the film. But I’m taking my DD, and now I’ll absolutely be dragging something pink out the closet for us both.

*Wardrobe

MachinesOfGod · 21/07/2023 01:32

My wardrobe already contains quite a lot of pink, so just added to it with an Asda Barbie T-shirt in age 13-14 years. All of the adult stuff in the collection was comically oversized - perhaps in tribute to Sam Smiths Barbie premier outfit!

I’m not sure what combination I’ll put together just yet, quite fancy the sequin skirt and fluffy with my Barbie t-shirt and my platform Dr Martens. But the Crushed velvet trousers are probably the most comfortable for sitting through two hours of film 🤣

It does make me laugh all the bandwagon-jumpers scuttling along, half of whom will never have owned a Barbie doll nor ever had any interest in it whatsoever 😆 But trends MUST^^ be followed! Themz the rulez 🤘🏻

You just had to add in that it's a children's size didn't you?! 😉😉

KajsaKavat · 21/07/2023 01:47

That’s a lot of pink

And here, madam misery arrives in this thread! I bet you're a load of fun. Don't tell me, you hate Eurovision too🙄🙄🙄🙄

I am watching Barbie with my mum friends and of course we will be wearing pink! As we have no reason to take life so seriously and i cannot wait!

Yeh everyone with a mental and emotional age of over 5 is a 'misery'...sigh.

I had two Action Men

What on EARTH for?! Attention?

Yup. And from the look of this thread, to sneer at the normals.
I'm going in order to use up some free tickets got with my bank account

By all means go and check out the Asda Barbie offering for verification of how oversized it is. The size medium sweatshirt was easily equivalent to a normal men’s 2XL, if not bigger.

From your comments it appears you’re a pretty nasty piece of work, do you realise it’s okay to have interests and things that you enjoy? Do you realise that frivolity and fun are so scarce in adulthood (and clearly even more scarce for you 😢), that people are just happy to grab onto a little bit of joy whenever it presents itself?

And for what it’s worth, I have a long and enduring history of loving Barbie, it was the only toy I ever wanted to play with as a child. I had a Barbie Dune Buggy, a Barbie Jaguar, a camper, a dream house, pretty much every single Barbie you could possibly think of. The only reason I stopped playing with my Barbies at age 13 is because some horrible, miserable girl off my street started telling everyone at my new comprehensive school that I still played with Barbies, I imagine you’re cut from the same cloth.

Ikeatears · 21/07/2023 01:57

@Moneynewpence can't quote you but how ridiculous! So, people want to go out and have a bit of lighthearted fun and dress HOWEVER THEY WANT TO and they must have the mental age of a toddler??!
I would argue that the people who can't appreciate that we all find fun on our own way (illegal practices aside) are the immature ones.
Each to their own, if somebody wants to dye their hair pink and wear stiletto's to a movie, it doesn't hurt me but if I'm there and look down my nose, it might hurt them...

marblemad · 21/07/2023 02:21

I had planned to watch both movies but now as of tonight I am recovering from an open foot fracture , absolutely gutted, can't walk much or drive at all so definitely wont be able to get to my nearest cinema.

SD1978 · 21/07/2023 02:32

Absolutely not. As an adult I have no interest in this. Very much looking forward to seeing it, but I've never 'dressed up' for any movie as an adult.

steff13 · 21/07/2023 02:47

We're wearing pink.

I don't know that I know any girl/woman who didn't own a Barbie. She's been around since my mother was little.

Agree, I owned around 10 barbies, the jeep, a ken and the dreamhouse and I was a 'tomboy' who to this day hates frilly pink and anything like high school musical etc. But the Barbie movie is clearly satirical and Ryan Gosling looks hilarious in it.

CouldIHaveThatInEnglishPlease · 21/07/2023 07:12

I might wait until Wednesday to go and see it, because it’s Wednesdays we wear pink here 😉

AlfietheSchnauzer · 21/07/2023 01:24

What on EARTH for?! Attention?

For fun, ffs. Some of you lot need to try having some of your own. Then it won't offend you so much.

And before you say it, it doesn't have to be this kind of fun if that's not your thing. But it'll help you understand that different people enjoy different stuff so you aren't always reaching for a bad motivation when someone does a harmless thing that isn't your thing.

DrSbaitso · 21/07/2023 07:23

The film is obviously satirical. But I really hope that, as well as satirising Barbie, it also takes the piss out of people who make a hobby out of performing superiority over those who like her. Ironically, the sneerers are the ones who don't get the joke!

gogomoto · 21/07/2023 07:26

I volunteered in my local charity shop yesterday and had over a dozen women come in looking for pink outfits, not together. We had saved done clothes ahead over a few weeks to do a special barbie window but everything sold straight away

nutmegnook · 21/07/2023 07:27

Hi barbies! Is this film ok for age 9 year old? Xx

What a shame I hope you recover quickly.

TheChosenTwo · 21/07/2023 07:39

No, none of us own anything pink! Actually my sister said she might have something pink but it’s pyjamas 😂
Neither of us had Barbies as kids, I’ve never been into dolls and neither of my dds were either but we are all excited to see this tonight!

Porageeater · 21/07/2023 07:42

I wasn’t but I am now!

afaloren · 21/07/2023 07:58

Wearing a bright pink dress when I go!
