I know it’s a bit silly and we should all do what we are comfortable with of course…

But are you dressing up for it if you’re seeing it?

If I was going, I 100% would.
I'm dying to see it but not well enough to go the cinema yet, but when it comes out at home I'm gonna barbie pj up and do something fun for DP and I.
Might make a pink platter of food 😂

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 17:02

I have a Barbie T-shirt. Tried to get some bright pink leggings but couldn’t find any. Daughter has the bright pink Barbie tracksuit bottoms from Primark which she will probably wear with a goth T-shirt 😂
Will have to see if we have pink nail polish.
I will also be taking my Barbie and Ken dolls with me.
I am very excited.

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 17:06

@WeAreTheHeroes you need one of the Barbenheimer T-shirts 😂

I'm 50 and my 76 year old mother has asked me to go and watch it with her.

Damn right I'm buying the shit Primark tees for the both of us!!

If I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna DO THIS!!

I hope you both have an amazing time.

Dressing up in something pink that you already own/painting nails pink/ pink hair accessories... Yes absolutely! Buying a cheap Barbie sweatshop tshirt that will end up in landfill with thousands of others, not so much. If that makes me a killjoy, so be it!

Can I wear this if there's a 7 hour gap between movies?

Oysterbabe · 20/07/2023 17:15

I hadn't planned to but now I've read this I definitely want to 😃

justasking111 · 20/07/2023 17:16

Lots of people dressed up for the mamma Mia theatre show I went to. Was a lot of fun

Backstreets · 20/07/2023 17:16

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 20/07/2023 17:16

My feeling on it too, or get something from a charity shop. That's where all of this shite people are buying will end up in 6 months time, that or the dump.

Marblessolveeverything · 20/07/2023 17:19

Yep, wearing pink going for a brunch and putting a few quid in the breast cancer charity box as it is the pink ribbon.

MrsMitford3 · 20/07/2023 17:20

DD going to a midnight screening with a bunch of mates and yes they are dressing up!

Think a bit of fun really!!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/07/2023 17:26

I bought a Barbie sweatshirt on Depop (I’ll wear it for WFH/loungewear too) and already have perfect Barbie pink nail polish to use. I’m excited!

Pkhsvd · 20/07/2023 17:28

My teen has a whole pink outfit planned and I have agreed to wearing a pink top; just a bit of fun isn’t it

ElWantsACuggle · 20/07/2023 17:33

Absolutely!

My eldest bought me a Barbie visor from Primark the other day🤣. All three of mine (all older teens) have been to Primark and kitted themselves out (I'm a fatty so got a t from Simply B). We're doing pink make up and pink nails. My middle on is generally house bound so it'll be absolute treat to be out with her for a bit.

Everything will be worn to death, so I don't feel there's a significant environmental impact from the purchase of some T-shirts and sliders.

I can't bloody wait Grin

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 17:34

@inomniaparatis I bought my Barbie T-Shirt about 2 weeks ago and have worn several times already. It’s already one of my favourite T-Shirts. I would have worn it today but it was still drying after being washed.
I don’t put clothes in landfill.

good grief no - is dressing up for movies a thing now? do we all need to go Marvel movies dressed as The Hulk or Iron Man?

Do you say the same when men dress up in their football shirts to watch a match at home?

Mumtothreegirlies · 20/07/2023 17:35

Is this the new tic tocky facebooks thing?

My kids wore spiderman clothes and shoes when we watched the spiderman movie.

And a Sonic T-shirt when they watched the sonic movie, similar with Mario.

They like clothes with characters, and if theres a movie we will try and match the theme/ or characters if we already have clothes that fit.

But I wouldn't generally dress up for a movie. Not for a barbie one anyway.

Chachatrex · 20/07/2023 17:36

Omg hadn’t thought of this but what a great idea!

Canisaysomething · 20/07/2023 17:37

Yes I'm dressing up as "fat barbie".

Coleslawclara · 20/07/2023 17:37

Didn’t even know this was a thing so no! Maybe it’s area-specific?

PandorasBoxers · 20/07/2023 17:38

I’m wearing pink

queenofthewild · 20/07/2023 17:38

I dressed as Mario for the Super Mario movie. DS was not impressed.

I feel the urge to go pink and sparkly for Barbie now.
