Just that really. Bored on a Saturday evening and wonder what others might think! What would be your number one choice, ranking from favourite to least. For reference the Nordic countries are Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and Finland.

I’ve read that Finland is the happiest country, so Finland. Plus Lapland is there

Catusrusty · 15/07/2023 23:27

Whichever has the least midges

HellonHeels · 15/07/2023 23:28

Maybe Norway but only because Ive got a friend there. Have only visited briefly but enjoyed it. I have been to Finland and didnt like it as much. Not visited the others.

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 15/07/2023 23:28

Norway

Wildwildwildwest · 15/07/2023 23:31

Oo that’s interesting I would put Finland last! It might be considered the happiest but it also has the highest suicide rates out of Nordic countries

Finland because I'm shallow and liked the Eurovisions entry.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 15/07/2023 23:31

Denmark

MammaTill2Pojkar · 15/07/2023 23:32

Sweden. Already moved here even.

Wildwildwildwest · 15/07/2023 23:33

“What country has the least amount of mosquitoes?
In almost every country in the world, mosquitoes are a menace. Everywhere but Iceland, that is. Iceland is one of the few habitable places on the planet that is mosquito-free, and nobody really seems to know why”

there you have it 🤣🤣

TwilightZ0neSleeper · 15/07/2023 23:33

Iceland
Horses
Landscapes
Hot swimming pools
History

moggerhanger · 15/07/2023 23:34

Iceland. I love it there and I'm a sun/heat loather, so it would suit me to a T.

Sakura7 · 15/07/2023 23:34

Norway is fabulous, the only drawback is that it's the most expensive of them all, but then wages would be very good too.

ConsuelaHammock · 15/07/2023 23:35

I’m in Denmark at the moment on holiday. It’s lovely but I wouldn’t want to live here. Norway is lovely but too cold in winter. I’ll stick to home.

moggerhanger · 15/07/2023 23:35

@Wildwildwildwest Iceland might not have mozzies, but it does have midges that could swallow you whole. Ask me how I know 😖

FOJN · 15/07/2023 23:36

I've visited Norway and Sweden and loved both but the lack of mosquitoes in Iceland swings it for me.

Wildwildwildwest · 15/07/2023 23:37

@moggerhanger oh no!! Moved to the back of the list then 🤣

Finland or Norway, Sweden is quite right wing and Denmark is homogeneous.

Bumblepig · 15/07/2023 23:41

I want to visit Copenhagen because of hygge. Not sure if I want to live there

Nothingbuttheglory · 15/07/2023 23:44

Norway. Massive Jo Nesbo fan.

Wildwildwildwest · 15/07/2023 23:44

@PTSDBarbiegirl mmmm Sweden is quite right wing but I wouldn’t consider Denmark to be so. I’m from one of the Nordic countries btw and recently moved there. After living for 8 years in uk!

Finland, because my Finnish colleagues have a sauna in the office and because it is (or was, not sure how current) the world’s biggest consumer per capita of ice cream. The office also had a free ice freezer.

Fjords, meatballs and small mermaids? Nice, but no contest for the ice cream.

aintnothinbutagstring · 15/07/2023 23:48

Denmark - big fan of The Killing - could wear a gudrun gudrun jumper 24/7 like Sarah Lund - can't do that over here, too sweaty.

Findyourneutralspace · 15/07/2023 23:50

Norway. My mum has friends there so I spent a few childhood summers there, and she’s taken my kids in their early teens. The landscape is beautiful and lifestyle is very wholesome. It’s the best side of me.

Ive been to Denmark, Sweden and Lapland too - loved taking my kids to see Santa in Lapland but didn’t really experience much local culture, Sweden I think I liked the least, Denmark was nice. But Norway…. ❤️

Findyourneutralspace · 15/07/2023 23:51

Also, that brown cheese they have. I’d move anywhere in the world for the brown cheese
