Just bought some hotter sandals. They don't look that bad and are so comfortable @

The main downside of them is they can't be worn with a skirt or dress - that does look frumpy. But they are fine with shorts/trousers.

KirstenBlest · 24/06/2023 14:18

Hotter shoes make lots of different styles.
Some are a bit 'sensible' and others look great IMO.
I'm told they are comfortable and last well.
They're a british family firm and the shoes are made in the UK.
Off to look at their site...

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 24/06/2023 14:19

If anyone commented negatively on my comfy shoes (including Hotter) my only thought would be how shallow they are.

Having said that my purple Hotter shoes have had lots of favourable compliments.

If your feet are uncomfortable you are uncomfortable all over, as my mother used to say.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 24/06/2023 14:22

I like a fugly sandal. Those aren’t fugly, they are just sandals. Sadly dont fit over my high instep.

ColdHandsHotHead · 24/06/2023 14:22

I’ve got Karrimore walking sandals. They’re heavenly.

OdeToBarney · 24/06/2023 14:22

I would wear them. I've just bought a pair of sketchers that are similar to tevas. I had DD last year and no longer gaf what people think. I need to be comfortable, especially while running around after a mad toddler!

Fizbosshoes · 24/06/2023 14:23

I bought some birkenstock style sandals recently that I thought would be comfortable sort of every day (rather than dressy) sandals.
How wrong could you be - walked less than a mile and they've virtually ripped my feet to shreds! 😳 there is a cut/blister on almost every toe!

Comfortable clothes are a feminist issue.

Whilst we're desperately trying to stem the rise of toxic masculinity in school, I speak to girls who genuinely can't see that bullying girls who don't roll up their skirts so you can see their pants, rip their tights etc, calling them "sad nuns", is simply stoking the fire. Women shouldn't be comfortable if they can be attractive apparently.

Nowt wrong with wearing shoes you like. Aesthetics are important. I love my shoes. But labelling perfectly normal shoes as hideous and atrocious is bloody weird.

It's ok to not like certain things, I think Birkenstocks are hideous- it's not a sexism thing, or toxic masculinity

Silly me, ignoring this utter nonsense right now. I probably won’t win any awards but I don’t think I’ve scared any small children.

Ageist AND snarky. What a charmer.

lieselotte · 24/06/2023 14:29

My post got split from the other one by another poster so the comment was out of context.

I am wearing Hotter sandals right now. But they'd look stupid with a skirt/dress. My opinion which I am allowed to have. So much aggression on here today.

As I said in my post above - a lot of aggression on MN today. Is it the heat?

GulesMeansRed · 24/06/2023 14:32

I bought a pair of Clarks' sandals a couple of years ago after reading a recommendation on here and they are the comfiest footwear I've ever had. I don't care if they're ugly. Was at a wedding recently in heels and they were SO uncomfortable, everyone was slipping off to their cars to change into sandals as soon as they could. I like the ones the OP posted too.

Aggression? Okay… I’ll just carry on looking stupid.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/06/2023 14:34

And frumpy.

Ffs

Summerskies2023 · 24/06/2023 14:35

I love hotter shoes

ColdHandsHotHead · 24/06/2023 14:35

I always find it interesting that shops are full of heels but out in the street 99% of women are striding along in flats. Manufacturers must sell heels, or the shops wouldn’t be full of them, but maybe they’re mainly for looking at😉

Childh00dMemories · 24/06/2023 14:49

I am allergic to plastic shoes

I used to wear leather DMs flat shoes

I've been wearing leather Hotter for years, they are comfortable & come in a variety of colours

I have travelled all over the world in them

They have my vote

FrogFairy · 24/06/2023 15:17

@GulesMeansRed are the straps on those sandals stretchy? The soles also look as if they are cushiony.
If so, please do you have a link for them or remember the name of them?
They might just be perfect for my problem feet.

What ones are they?

Are Hotter mainly for wider feet, as I'm narrow...?

Tourist - standard fitting. My feet are very narrow, but you can tighten both sets of straps on these.

Saying that a pair of shoes are OK only if you're over 70 is snarky and ageist.
You aren't the poster who is being referred to, but crack on defending ageism and other women's choices.

I have a mug that says "If the shoe fits buy it in every colour". I try to adhere to this. Same with jeans. Most of my shoes are either sketchers or earth spirit.
One of the benefits of getting old is my complete and utter indifference to fashion or what anyone thinks.

I used to do that, buy in lots of colours, when I was working, it was fine until sitting in the morning breifing the Deputy Head kept looking at my feet and smiling. Eventually I realised I had one black and one dark blue shoes on having dressed very quickly when I'd overslept a bit!

Thereoughttobeclowns · 24/06/2023 11:28

They’re definitely comfort over style.

They are not as bad as those gopping Saltwater sandals.

I love my saltwaters! I live in them during the summer - comfiest sandals I’ve ever owned.

I find that my Birkenstocks cause blisters on the arch of my foot if I wear them for too long. I have some Hotter shoes I've had for years but the most comfortable sandals I have are Josef Seibel, they must be about 10 years old and have travelled miles with me!
Victoria Wood once said in a sketch that she knew she was getting to be middle aged when she looked at a pair of shoes in a shop and thought 'Oh, they look really comfortable'.
