Hotter shoes aren't that bad?

Just bought some hotter sandals. They don't look that bad and are so comfortable @

@Sleepertrains , why would they want to make them? Those sandals are pretty but they look flimsy and have no adjustment other than the heel strap.
Not many people have pretty feet.

I doubt that they would sell. Who'd go to Hotter looking for a flimsy sandal?

Wish they still came in red. I don’t like any of the other colours they currently do, apart from the black.

I know. This is one of the situations where I wish I'd bought two pairs in red. They have got coral this year, which looks fairly red, but it's difficult to tell in the photos.

@KirstenBlest what I'm saying is why can't they make a non flimsy version, wider straps and adjustable but overall a very similar look?

Based on the number of mn threads over the years 'stylish but comfortable' I think they'd sell very well!

Comfortable shoes are definitely a feminist issue

Nothing looks less 'stylish' than someone wearing shoes they can't walk confidently and comfortably in.

I've not got any hotter shoes yet, I don't think anywhere in my town sells them, but I'll have to visit a shop elsewhere, it's hard to find shoes that fit now my feet have got wider. I'm currently mainly using my merrell walking sandals - great for walking in but maybe wins the prize for least aesthetically appealing ever.Grin

@Sleepertrains , because by the time they'd have added wider adjustable straps they'd probably not be attractive.

So totally different then?

Because posters would see the name Hotter and go "mwahaha my 103 year old dead granny wore something like that".

Shoes are definitely a feminist issue and it starts early.
Working in pre school, boys in trainers running, riding scooters and balance bikes and climbing the climbing frame and slide.
Girls in pretty sandals tripping on the front, scraping tops of feet on balance bikes and scooters, can't climb as fast.
The psyical movement of girls restricted by unpractical clothes.
Of course some girls were in trainers too but many were not and no one sent boys in sandals

These for example, are £690 from Aquazzura and stunning imo. What's to stop hotter making something like that with a cushioned, leather footbed, and straps wider with hidden velcro? For £50 🤣

There is no support in those

Why anyone would spend that amount of money on them is beyond me

woodhill · 25/06/2023 14:20

My feet are narrow and hotter stopped making slim fittings which is a pain

I agree - I have dodgy knees and need good supportive shoes and sandals to cushion them.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/06/2023 14:51

I'd rather wear ugly sandals than those Aquazzura ones - too fussy, too flat and stupidly expensive.

*Not aimed at you in particular @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie, but more at this thread in general.

Your post really made me laugh, however, because I have those Aquazzura sandals, although in a different colour. They are flat, yes, and with a very plain outfit, not fussy at all. They look fab with jeans and a white shirt, for example. and whether or not they're stupidly expensive is at the discretion of the purchaser. I wear them out to dinner sometimes and, when I glance down, they make me happy. I have slender feet and ankles and good arches and, while I wouldn't wear them to hike long distances, I find them perfectly comfortable. I also have more practical sandals (although fitflops work better for me than the other brands mentioned) and trainers. It doesn't have to be an either/or situation. Sometimes I priotise style over comfort and sometimes the opposite.

I think it's no better to shame someone for owning/wearing something impractical that they like and that makes them happy than for wearing something others might consider 'grannyish'. Why can't everyone just wear what they want without judgment?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/06/2023 15:55

I was expressing an opinion about what I would like to wear, and wasn't attempting to 'shame' anybody.

Having said that, I really do think that spending almost £700 on a pair of sandals is beyond the remit of most people.
