Hotter shoes aren't that bad?

Just bought some hotter sandals. They don't look that bad and are so comfortable @

I went in to next the other day for sandals for my daughter who is 5.
In the girls section there was not one pair that were supportive, had wide enough straps to not cut in and had decent grip on the bottom.
However, almost all the ones in the boys section did.
Of course I could have brought my daughter a boys pair...but she likes rainbows and pink the best.

Why is comfort for female feet an afterthought?

Sherrystrull · 24/06/2023 11:43

I got the Tourist sandals that were advised on here. I almost cried when I put them on. I've never had well fitting and comfortable sandals before.

To me, I associate fit flops with being grannyish so everyone should just wear what they want

RudsyFarmer · 24/06/2023 11:45

Shoes on someone deeply untrendy can make the shoes look dowdy. Same shoes on someone dressed fashionable look edgy. It’s not the shoes people, it’s the body attached to them!

JanglyBeads · 24/06/2023 11:49

Love Hotter.
Think some of their styles are horrendous and some fantastic-looking (like yours). 🤷🏻‍♀️

Zhougzhoug · 24/06/2023 11:54

It doesn't matter what's cool or "in", that's true, but coolness is something that exists whether you like it or not. It might be a silly irrelevant thing but it is still a thing. Hotter shoes are beloved of my 80 year old MIL whereas you can get Tevas in Arket. There's basically nothing hipper than head to toe gore-tex and camping wear at the moment. I do not think the Dalston gaze has expanded to include Fitflops but hopefully it's only a matter of time because I recently started wearing some around the house and they've cured my dodgy ankle.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/06/2023 11:55

I've got some 1920's style heels. I love them.

I have awkward feet. Hotter are the only brand that manages to fit properly. They will not win fashion awards, but are practical & comfy.

And they're the only brand I've tried that you can wear all day on a first wearing without them rubbing. I wear extra-wide, and they're blissful.

BarrelOfOtters · 24/06/2023 12:58

I wear birkenstocks too so I probably know nothing.

Comfortable footwear is a feminist issue. I wear hotter shoes and don’t give the teeniest damn.

and yes, they also look fine.

Me too. I have several pairs of boots, shoes and sandals - they fit well, are really comfortable and look great.

WHO says they ARE "bad"?

TheWernethWife · 24/06/2023 13:14

I like comfort and wear hotter and Skechers.

I wear my skechers every day (have 4 pairs in different colours) and have 2 pairs of Hotter Tourist sandals.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/06/2023 13:20

I have two pairs of the Tourist sandals. Everyone asks where they are from. I also have two pairs of Hotter ankle boots and bright pink Fitflop sandals. I don’t care if they are frumpy, my feet love them.

shortandpaleandoldandugly · 24/06/2023 13:24

I bought some Softlights sandals from Amazon for less than £20. I expected nothing because I have terrible feet and need v comfy shoes but honestly, they are amazingly comfy!

LadyBird1973 · 24/06/2023 13:27

Honestly I can't see what makes Skechers trainers less 'stylish' than other brands - trainers are all pretty ugly really. Same with hotter sandals versus DM sandals!

I wear sparkly fitflops and Skechers and dgaf anymore about whether teenagers are judging my footwear. I only have to impress me (and maybe dh Wink). So buy them if you love them.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/06/2023 13:30

The best footwear is something you can't feel, if you know what I mean
Feet are too precious to worry about the brand. I think they're lovely
I always go for Clarks as they're best for me

starfishmummy · 24/06/2023 13:33

I've got those too I love them. I have other hotter sandals from previous years and while they're nit the most stylish, well neither am I anyway, and they are soooo comfortable

Gorringe · 24/06/2023 13:56

Anxioys · 24/06/2023 11:26

Never had a brand been so misnamed

😂

Tinkerbyebye · 24/06/2023 14:01

I have lots of hotter shoes, the Mary Jane ones for winter, with a few summer ones, very comfortable and live in them along with some boots

however since they were bought out/taken over the variety and colours are much reduced and I hate all the sales that go on

I get that they are very comfortable to wear but sadly they look very fugly clunky to me.
I live in Fitflops in the summer but only the ones with the much slimmer sole/footbed, I think the style is Gracie. Standard Fitflops are clunky too.

Those Fitflòps are lovely but don't look to me like they serve the same purpose as the Hotter Tourist sandals at all - thin sole, no straps or support. I have 2 pairs of the Hotter ones linked. They are the most comfortable sandals I've owned.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/06/2023 14:02

I got some a little while ago and had a big thread on here at the time. I’m really pleased with them - black Tourist sandals.

IrisGold · 24/06/2023 14:05

Opt1234 · 24/06/2023 11:25

@GardeningQuestionTime I bought the black version in the sale paid for delivery and they were £49 but now they're offering free delivery but the price has gone up to £69? Bizarre but I'm tempted to buy all the bloody colours!

I have a mug that says "If the shoe fits buy it in every colour". I try to adhere to this. Same with jeans. Most of my shoes are either sketchers or earth spirit.
One of the benefits of getting old is my complete and utter indifference to fashion or what anyone thinks.

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 24/06/2023 14:08

Some Hotters are lovely, some aren't. Same as every other shoe brand. It's only really the nasty ageism on forums like MN that dismisses an entire brand.
If those shoes were made by Dr Marten or Birkenstock (and both brands this season have almost identical styles) everyone would think they were funky/edgy/cool.

It was the same with THE M&S dress a few years ago. Dissed universally while the equally horrific Zara one which was identical (except your size 6 M&S would be a size XXXL in Zara) was lauded as the most on trend dress of the year.

Mimilamore · 24/06/2023 14:13

I have these in gold and brown leather, so comfy and I think they look good too

lieselotte · 24/06/2023 14:14

I've lived in Hotter sandals for many years now. They are very comfortable and I can walk miles in them. I don't care if they are considered granny shoes, the comfort and long term health of my feet is more important.

My mum likes Rieker sandals. They tend to be a bit less granny-ish.

BrioNotBiro · 24/06/2023 14:15

They are about the only place on the high street I can go and get a choice (not a solitary pair that looks like a bloke's)in a size 43/9, so I give them a thumbs up for that alone.
