To think that Phillip Schofield is a fantastic example of a complete and utter narcissist?

His behaviour over the last week has given me no doubt. To be honest I’ve never really liked him and found him incrediably rude, smug and generally obnoxious but the brass neck he has displayed since the story about him and Holly’s falling out has shocked even me. The statement he released was a not so thinly veiled thread towards Holly and ITV. His refusal to stand aside or even take a break and lie low for a bit shows he completley lacks any sense of shame. Now he’s starting to play the mental health card when there’s fuck all wrong with him other than an out of control ego and an unhealthy interest in barely legal young men..

Also his eyes. They are completley cold and dead.

We are going to have weeks of Phil and Holly threads Sad

Obviously if he has harmed someone that is wrong and should be dealt with appropriately (either legal or disciplinary depending on circs) but other than that, do we have to discuss this at all?

TheNewSchmoo · 21/05/2023 19:29

No fan of his, but "play the mental health card". I should think what he has gone through will have negatively impacted his mental health.

Ladykryptonite · 21/05/2023 19:31

Wildfire, it's not mandatory to be here!

Enfys1982 · 21/05/2023 19:34

@TheNewSchmoo id imagine what he’s put others though over the years has been extremely detrimental to their mental health but he has no concern about that? I generally think you reap what you sow.

I don't know if he's an actual narcissist but I'd imagine years of being an ITV golden boy, cosseted and protected by the execs and adored by millions of viewers could bolster one's confidence to an obnoxious degree, to the point where you think you're untouchable.

LizzieSiddal · 21/05/2023 19:38

I agree with you. And yes the statement to The Sun last week was a threat to everyone who’s stood by him in the past.
It’s very telling that many people who’ve worked with him seem delighted that he’s gone. And I’ll never forgive him for the way he treated Fern Britain, he’s not fit to shine her shoes yet he got rid of her because he wanted someone young who he could manipulate.

Ozgirl75 · 21/05/2023 19:55

To be honest, having just moved back here from overseas, I was amazed that a presenter leaving a daytime TV show was a news headline on radio 4 of all places last night.

This 👆

I have no idea why it even features on anyone's radar. They are TV presenters, who gives a shit (apart from those directly affected by any wrongdoing obviously).

@Bloopsie yabu putting a link on of that odious woman!

Nevermind KH i think you are missing the point here..

KezzaMucklowe · 21/05/2023 20:01

Phil and Holly seem to be the new Meghan and Harry.

neverbeenskiing · 21/05/2023 20:04

I must have missed something, I heard he's stepped down and it wasn't entirely his choice but what is he actually supposed to have done?

Ladykryptonite · 21/05/2023 20:04

Happiestsleeping, why does anyone care about anything, why bother coming on a thread to belittle?

SilverGlitterBaubles · 21/05/2023 20:05

Possibly yes but we will never really know the actual truth about any of this only what PRs and newspaper gossips quoting 'a source' or 'those close to'. There is not doubt that Philips brothers conviction has tarnished his reputation and there is absolutely no way brand Holly Willoughby a multi million pound brand was willing to risk any contagion.

cushioncovers · 21/05/2023 20:07

What has he actually done? Genuine question as I don't watch the show.

tiredhadenough · 21/05/2023 20:07

I met him when I was a teenager and he was horrible and rude!!

Will be interesting to see what comes out in the wash

WarmButteryCrumpets · 21/05/2023 20:07

@wildfirewonder and @HappiestSleeping why on earth have you clicked on a thread you're not interested in?

We can talk about whatever we like 😂

2chocolateoranges · 21/05/2023 20:08

I personally don’t think he would have had this length of career if he was a horrid arrogant person, the majority of people badmouthing him eg Kim Woodburn, Dan Wooton, etc aren’t exactly kind, polite people themselves.

it seems to have turned into a witch hunt and the media are keeping it going.

people seem to forget what happened to Caroline Flack and the huge publicity of be kind when she died.

Ladykryptonite · 21/05/2023 20:09

Jimmy Saville had a long career

Greenpin · 21/05/2023 20:10

I didn't "adore him" but I've always liked his presenting and preferred him to Holly. Nobody knows the complete story and he seems to have been kicked enough. He's gone which apparently is what alot of people wanted . So that should be the end of it.

OooYoureHard · 21/05/2023 20:16

He seems to have been fiercely protected, I'm curious as to why that seems to be stopping now

Cat1066 · 21/05/2023 20:22

You don't know him. I don't know how you can say that?
I'm not a fan of Phillip Schofield but as someone who has been the victim of a narcissist I'm not sure how you can make a diagnosis based on watching him on tv.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 21/05/2023 20:24

If the rumours are true, then I don’t know how Holly thinks she can shove him off now and come up smelling of roses. She was there, she said nothing, she should be stepping down too if it’s true

Prescottdanni123 · 21/05/2023 20:26

I'd be really careful of accusing someone of 'playing the mental health card'. I remember people being just as glad when Caroline Flack got into trouble and posting nasty threads on mumsnet and nasty comments online and look how that ended up.
