To think that Phillip Schofield is a fantastic example of a complete and utter narcissist?

His behaviour over the last week has given me no doubt. To be honest I’ve never really liked him and found him incrediably rude, smug and generally obnoxious but the brass neck he has displayed since the story about him and Holly’s falling out has shocked even me. The statement he released was a not so thinly veiled thread towards Holly and ITV. His refusal to stand aside or even take a break and lie low for a bit shows he completley lacks any sense of shame. Now he’s starting to play the mental health card when there’s fuck all wrong with him other than an out of control ego and an unhealthy interest in barely legal young men..

Also his eyes. They are completley cold and dead.

I'd be really careful of accusing someone of 'playing the mental health card'. I remember people being just as glad when Caroline Flack got into trouble and posting nasty threads on mumsnet and nasty comments online and look how that ended up.

Well said. I'm no fan of Schofield but the witch hunt is horrible.

SerafinasGoose · 21/05/2023 20:28

No idea. I'm not competent to diagnose narcissism.

Thatladdo · 21/05/2023 20:30

He is a fantastic example of a complete and utter Sausage!

JenniferBooth · 21/05/2023 20:31

Well his attitude when he interviewed three of Savilles victims on TM probably didnt do their mental health any good since we are bringing it up.

wildfirewonder · 21/05/2023 19:28

We are going to have weeks of Phil and Holly threads Sad

Obviously if he has harmed someone that is wrong and should be dealt with appropriately (either legal or disciplinary depending on circs) but other than that, do we have to discuss this at all?

If only there was an option to not open the threads that you have no interest in....

Papernotplastic · 21/05/2023 20:31

I’m not a psychiatrist and I don’t know him so I’ve no idea.

Dibbydoos · 21/05/2023 20:34

I haven't kept up with this, but I kniw his brother raped children and is in prison. I heard he was linked to at least 1 under age relationship with a boy. Who knows the real truth, but I was told by people who worked with him when I wasa teenager that he was weird - whatever that meant.

I don't watch daytime TV btw, so like other posters - unless what he's done is criminal or has damaged someone, I don't give a fiddle.

Famous people are just like all other people, the breath, eat, piss and shit just the same.

I personally don’t think he would have had this length of career if he was a horrid arrogant person, the majority of people badmouthing him eg Kim Woodburn, Dan Wooton, etc aren’t exactly kind, polite people themselves.

it seems to have turned into a witch hunt and the media are keeping it going.

people seem to forget what happened to Caroline Flack and the huge publicity of be kind when she died.

Jimmy Savilles career was longer than Phillip Schofields and look at everyone that covered for him, including the BBC.

Philip's already admitted to knowing a out his brothers paedophilia and not reporting it and to grooming young boys himself, makes me wonder what other dirty little secrets he is keeping.

It’s the British pastime though.
Build someone up and then knock them down.

Prescottdanni123 · 21/05/2023 20:41

@AbreathofFrenchair

So you think he should be driven to suicide like Carolone Flack was over things you think he might have done?

Ladykryptonite · 21/05/2023 20:42

If only some kind of 'witch hunt' had been done earlier in Jimmy Saville's career

manticlimactic0 · 21/05/2023 20:47

Let's just wait for the super injunction to come to its end shall we? 😁

Sillybanana · 21/05/2023 20:48

Ugh please warn people that you have posted a Katie Hopkins link!! 😡

@wildfirewonder and @HappiestSleeping why on earth have you clicked on a thread you're not interested in?

We can talk about whatever we like 😂

I know. I find the whole thing fascinating if I'm honest. Not what PS and HW are doing, I couldn't give a monkey's. It's the MN fascination that never ceases to amaze. Many of the topics are like that though, which is what makes it so addictive.

Keep it up Mumsnetters, it's a great way to forget the world outside for a few minutes 👍

LizzieSiddal · 21/05/2023 19:38

I agree with you. And yes the statement to The Sun last week was a threat to everyone who’s stood by him in the past.
It’s very telling that many people who’ve worked with him seem delighted that he’s gone. And I’ll never forgive him for the way he treated Fern Britain, he’s not fit to shine her shoes yet he got rid of her because he wanted someone young who he could manipulate.

How did he get rid of her? Was that not the decision of the producers? Genuinely curious. Fern is lovely and I always thought they were a good and equal match unlike Holly who just simpers along to everything he says...

@AbreathofFrenchair

So you think he should be driven to suicide like Carolone Flack was over things you think he might have done?

Caroline Flack had a well documented history of mental health problems and suicide attempts. She was hounded unfairly by the press and they, as per, printed unnecessary and inflammatory articles about her.

Philip Schofield covers up for paedophiles and has publicly declared an interest in young boys and displayed how he used his power and position of authority to groom young boys.

What would you preferred outcome be for for him? Protect him for life because he suddenly decides he has mental health issues and therefore we can't possibly upset him?

People who groom children and cover other paedophiles have no place in society. They are rotten to the core.

And I can't abide do gooders like yourself who think they deserve to live and be protected.

I'd say grooming a young boy is illegal, which he has done, but sure, let him carry on.

He only covered up his brothers paedophilia too but hey, let him get on with right?!

Superdupes · 21/05/2023 21:04

I agree OP, the complete obsession with always looking good and manipulating any situation to keep it that way is what makes me feel it. I loved him as a presenter when I was young though.

LuckySantangelo35 · 21/05/2023 21:05

“What would you preferred outcome be for for him? Protect him for life because he suddenly decides he has mental health issues and therefore we can't possibly upset him?”

@Prescottdanni123 what is your take on this ⬆️
surely people need to be held accountable when they behaved in heinous ways?

KirstenBlest · 21/05/2023 21:05

He's always given me the creeps.

Aslanplustwo · 21/05/2023 21:07

Ozgirl75 · 21/05/2023 19:55

To be honest, having just moved back here from overseas, I was amazed that a presenter leaving a daytime TV show was a news headline on radio 4 of all places last night.

Living overseas I agree with this, also the numerous threads on MN about it. We did see a snippet about it on the news here last night, but as he started his career in this country that is not surprising, but all this dissection of why he left and everyone thinking that they KNOW the real reason - it's madness!

Thinkbiglittleone · 21/05/2023 21:08

He only covered up his brothers paedophilia too but hey, let him get on with right?!

Did he lie and cover up for his brother or did he know about it and not report it ? Both are terrible but I don't know the story surrounding it?

And yes it's a disgrace and he should be made to leave if it's been proven he used his power to manipulate and abuse a young staff runner.

Is he a narcissist, you Just couldn't say without knowing him

Wonnle · 21/05/2023 21:09

Ladykryptonite · 21/05/2023 20:09

Jimmy Saville had a long career

Now then , Now then ,how's about that then !

Iwasafool · 21/05/2023 21:09

I wonder about psychiatrists needing years of training when people on here can diagnose all sorts, narcissism, autism, ADHD to name but a few.
